It is dazzling and brilliant performance. D.Trifonov well expresses Schumann. What a impeccable play is !! In the middle part when Schumann's piano concert of a part appears, I fell a thrill for a moment. In my humble opinion, I appreciate it is the best Robert Schumann's masterpiece.
absolutely impeccable! The variation 5 is possibly the most beautiful thing I've ever heard in my life. I love his interpretation because he's calm, he doesn't rush, and above all, he feels it. I'm sure Schumann would love to hear Trifonov playing his fantastic Etudes❤❤❤

Herr Trifonov hat einfach alles, was man als Pianist braucht: eine atemberaubende Technik, ausgesprochen hohe Musikalität, Temperament und vor allem Risikobereitschaft! Mir scheint, dass ihm der musikalische Ausdruck wichtiger ist, als "nur" richtige Töne zu spielen(von denen er aber in höchster Erregung immer noch wesentlich mehr trifft als die meisten seiner Kollegen in vergleichbarer Situation . Hochachtung, Bewunderung und demütigen Dank an ihn für dieses Geschenk

Среди лучших произведений Шумана - цикл Симфонических Этюдов. Композиторский стиль индивидуален и очень своеобразен. Следить за вариационными изменениями темы интересно, постоянно рождаются новые контрастные образы. Шуману - восхищение. Трифонову - браво! Автору - спасибо!

I have listened to this so many times! I am amazed at how wonderfully he plays one of my favourite pieces of music. He is simply fantastic. He captures the emotion perfectly. This is now, by far, my favourite ever version!
В последнее время в исполнении этого очень талантливого пианиста слушала музыку Баха, Моцарта, Бетховена, Шумана, Шопена. Сложилось мнение : наиболее "близки" Трифонову композиторы с "мужским" характером и подсознанием (преобладание энергии Ян) - Бах, Бетховен, Шуман. Но надо признать: пианист прекрасно исполняет любую музыку.
Самые лучшие концерты Данилв на Вербье Фестивале.1). они -живые,2).лрекрасная операторская работа,3).замечательная публика и главное-Даниил там восхительно выступает.Думаю,ему нравятся эти концерты на VF. A уж как мне...!!! Петербург.
I need to find a more recent vid of him in this . Not world shattering as he can be8 years ago! That LeifOveAndnes might be something in this-never heard his Schumann! This great musician frightens me . He has some magic power he gets the types of tone anywhere on the register he wants ! Horowitz would havesmilied at beamed at some of the music I've heard from him ! Schum:SymphEtudes is always a fantastic ride ! Can't wait to hear his Kreisleriana and geiste and Waldszenen and maybe the Sonatas he is so passionate and most of all he can impart and communicate vividly !! This is 8 years old and he is not as intense here as I have often seen him recently the constant travel, hotel, people,problems have made him even more interesting . hope it doesn't burn out he hasso much to give Pogo& Sgouros and countless others can't fight all the managers, hypes,competition judges,teachers etc.
Gorgeous, thanks for posting! I'm in love with his interpretation of the 1st posthumous variation at 1:55. Most other interpretations are now too fast for my taste.
Wonderful, scintillating performance, bravo Maestro Trifonov! Brings out the symphonic character of the music envisioned by Schumann. Glad Daniil incorporated the posthumous variations. I like his order of placement too! What a pianist!
I love this piece. I have a couple of recordings by Geza Anda which I've always cherished. It's nice to hear this young guy play with equal sensitivity, balance, etc. Wonderful.
+Russell Thompson Not quite what I said. His face doesn't help him play the piano with more emotion. But for him to stop making faces like that, it would make him play with less. I am not a pianist. I play guitar. I have absolutely no idea what is going on with my face when I play. I'm in the music. Most of the time, my eyes are closed and I do not have time to be looking in the fucking mirror. Trifonov plays at a level roughly 14,000 times higher than my own. That doesn't give him more time to be looking in the fucking mirror making sure he doesn't give a sour look to prissy little assmonkeys like you.
+eschelar Totally agree with you here. I'm sick of people demanding showmanship in classical music. Unless his playing was unspectacular, there is no reason to be upset with what he might be doing physically. These are extramusical actions that should have no impact on the final result. And after all, we're only here for the final result.
+eschelar The funny thing is his faces actually show he doesn't quite yet grasp the true, deeper meaning of this work. The music is not so outwardly extravagant, but a piece like the slow variation before the finale is actually very dark, and foreboding, but in a very inward, insecure way.
