To be honest I don’t understand why people were being mean about it in the first place? Buying a different mic costs money, maybe the person making the video doesn’t have the money? Such a weird thing to complain about, as if there aren’t other youtubers they can just go and watch.
alb0zfinest to be fair, people were very nice when they mentioned it and I wouldn’t have even known it was an issue if someone hadn’t mentioned it, so that’s good! 😄 luckily everyone was very nice with their comments but yes I agree it wouldn’t have been great if the comments had been mean-spirited haha
i guess im asking randomly but does any of you know of a method to get back into an instagram account..? I somehow forgot the login password. I appreciate any tips you can offer me
@Rodrigo Braden Thanks for your reply. I found the site thru google and Im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will reply here later with my results.
I’m with you on catching up with series it seems everyone else had read! Seven Realms is such a good and solid series! I finished it earlier this year. I’m reading Last Argument of King’s. I’m also listening to the audiobook while reading and the narrator gives life to the story! I think I’m enjoying the story more bc of the narrator. I finished Theft of Swords last night, lol. It was fun but took me a while to get interested in the story. I liked it well enough by the end to continue with the series.
Wooo! Now I’m even more excited to get to all of those! The narrator for the first law is amazing! I definitely think audiobooks for the series are the way to go because of him!
The audio sounds great! I can't wait for the live show for Kings of the Wyld! It is going to be such a fun time! OoOo I have the Gone World too! My mom actually gave it to me, apparently, he is her 2nd cousin and I had no clue haha I need to finally read the book though like I feel kind of obligated! I have been super into Sci-Fi too, I may or may not have just ordered a few new sci-fi books to read soon haha
Ahh I’m so excited for the live show, too!! Haha that’s so cool! It has such an intriguing premise, I can’t wait to get to it! I’m totally on a sci-fi kick, I’m loving it! Can’t wait to see the new ones you got 😄
I hope you enjoy The Poppy War, I loved it! I flew through the first couple hundred pages and the ending was amazing. The Dragon Republic is even better. Can’t wait for the third book later this year.
I never said anything about the audio, but I usually had to turn up my volume full blast... Much improved 😘 Wow! that was a lot of sci-fi / fantasy!! Not my usual go-to genre lately... Not sure why, I usually enjoy these types of books when I actually read them. *The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind* sounds right up my alley... All you had to say was JESSICA JONES vibes and I'm all over it!! JJ was my favorite of the Netflix Marvel Shows. You have me intrigued with *The Founder's Trilogy* , *The Gone World* , and *The Poppy War* .
Theft of Swords !!!! I'm telling you, this series is the best of this whole bunch. I've read at least 65% of the books you're describing in this post, and wow this is soooo gooood. You have to know that Michael Sullivan wrote all 3 books before publishing. So the story is perfect and the characters are also perfect, character driven or story driven this one has it all. In my top 5 fantasy series ever. And I have to say that Lawrence with her gray sisters is amazing, again mixing story and characters. Keep up the good work. I want you to review a couple of them in a near future. Cheers
I totally get that! I used to be so intimidated by them but now absolutely love them! I highly recommend Dark Matter by Blake Crouch as a starting point for sci-fi 😄
Great video and the audio improved a lot! And I am going to check Foundryside since you seemed to like it so much and I tend to like you fantasy recommendations. I look forward to see your thoughts about Shadow of the Fox, Sword of Kaigen and Fifth Season.
The audiobooks for First Law are amazing! I also think the most helpful thing I was told about this series before I read it was think of it as one very large book split into three parts. There is a plot, but it really spans all three books. Definitely more character driven.
Sunborn rising is literally what I want to do with my book, with the soundtrack especially. Dark Tower is so good. I didn't know you lived in Japan. I just read Assassin's Apprentice too. I didn't really like Uprooted either. Poppy War FTW. It's also so weird to look at some of these old videos and know your opinions on some of these books after haha.
This haul is like the ultimate fantasy haul. 'm really looking forward to your thoughts on all of these. So far the only one I've read is The demon king and I can say that the series is really easy to read and fun.
ahh I just discovered your channel and I love your content and personality! Your book taste is really different than what i normally see on booktube (and is similar to mine) thanks for the recs💖
I really enjoyed More Than This! Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on it. The Gone World sounds wonderful - definitely adding to my Goodreads TBR :)
I love that trope as well, where a power being doesnt want to bother with responsibility. You should read warbreaker if you haven't. I dont usually like recommending book bc you probably get recommended alot of books but you said you love that trope.
No justification needed to buy books lol I need to read Octavia Butler. I’m sleeping on her books. I’ve heard nothing but good things. Yas, A Monster Calls!!! So freaking good!! “Dragon he hires to help on the farm”?!! Sign me up! Sunborn Rising looks soooo good! Looks epic! The Girl who can move sh*t with her mind!!!! I love that title 🤣🤣🤣 definitely looking that up! You got some thick books!! Holy moly! I really enjoyed Shadow of the Fox. Still need to get through the other books The last couple of years, books covers have been hitting different! The sheer amount of books I’ve bought just because of the cover is ridiculous lol Great video! ❤️Nicole
Haha these books are all soooo thick, like what am I doing?! 🤣 omg truly some of these book covers are so beautiful, I can’t stop staring at them lol!!
The audio was so much better. I am new to fantasy books. The only ones I have read so far are the Girls of Paper and Fire series and I am on book three of the A Court of Thorns and Roses series. Which fantasy series out of all you mentioned in this video would you recommend for a beginner? By the way, I love your channel!
Yay!! So happy to hear about the audio! For fantasy beginners I think Foundryside is a really fun one to start with or the classic recommendation I think most people give is Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson 😄
Sold me on, Gone World. Absolutely intrigued. Your enthusiasm is contagious! Audio sounds great, though I didn't have any problems with previous recordings. Forgive me if you addressed this in a previous video, but based on some of your reviews, I think you'd like some Weird Fiction, China Mieville for example. You already have such a large list... Proud to be on your shelf. What a fantastic spotlight! Cheers!
Oooh I haven’t heard of China Mieville before but definitely looking him up! Where do you recommend starting with his books? 😄 Thank you again for your beautiful book! Can’t wait to read!! 🙌😊
@@JessieMaeBooks Oh oh, start with Railsea. It's maybe not Mieville's most complex work, but it has all of the richness and detail that I love about his writing, as well as being pure fun. I began with, Perdido Street Station, which I also love. And you are so welcome for the book! Can't wait to hear what you think of it.
I want to get into The Expanse at some point myself, I haven't really read any hard sci-fi so it's exciting to hear that you are reading it. Gunslinger is one of those series' that I've heard pretty much all praise with a possibly controversial ending to the books, no clue what to expect there. I have Fifth Season sitting on my bookshelf too! Annnnd haven't opened it haha. Rage of Dragons and Malice are fantastic!!! I loved Rage of Dragons, it's pretty much a non-stop rollercoaster and Malice is a fantastic epic fantasy book 1 to the Faithful and the Fallen series. Also, John Gwynne is the coolest person ever. I personally didn't care for Assassin's Apprentice, but to be fair it was my first fantasy book I read after a decade of not reading so I don't think it was a great way to re-introduce myself lol. SO MANY GOOD BOOK IN THIS HAUL. Poppy War is great too!
I always ask the same question about buying books. In fact, right before I listened to your book haul, I placed an order for 9 books with Book Depository. There were 3 books that I wanted. The first was Road Brothers by Mark Lawrence which is a short story collection. Next, The Obsidian Tower by Melissa Caruso which is the first book in her new series (I would recommend her first series Swords and Fire). The last was We Ride the Storm by Devin Madson. Devon is a self published author and this is the First by a major publisher - Orbit.
Oooh I’ve had Melissa Caruso on my TBR list for a while but now I need to bump her up to higher priority! Thanks for pointing these books out, adding them to the TBR now 😄 hope you enjoy them all!
The Rage of Dragons is definitely one of the best books Ive read this year... it is amazing! The 2nd book was going to come out in July, but I believe it got pushed back until November (but I’d be happy to find out they moved it back up, because Rhythm of War comes out in November, and that is a must read immediately for me book).
@@JessieMaeBooks I am getting a little bit too old for middle-grade books, but I am completely flabbergasted that nobody on booktube talks about the School for good and evil by Soman Chainani. I am 44 and I have devoured the books.
@@JessieMaeBooks The last book just came out and I don't know if I am mentally ready for it to be over. It has been in my audible queue. I am buying all the hardbacks so my 7 years old can eventually love them too. I originally started the series with my older daughter's but they seem to have lost interest where I am still very invested in Agatha and Sophie.
Ha yes! I can finally hear you. I didn't love Uprooted either. I listened to Poppy War and I hated it, 1 star. I couldn't get into Cinda Williams Chima. I didn't read her first series but I started with her second one, Shattered Realms, and gave Flamecaster 1 star. I've started listening to Malice and it sounds amazing! The narrator is amazing. Hated Kings of the Wyld, 1 star! LOL
The audio sounds great, but could you actually zoom into the covers next time? I had a really hard time reading that one author’s name....I think it was James something? Not sure
I just found you channel, but based on this haul I think we have very similar tastes. I recently hauls Wild Seed, and Octavia Butler is a new favorite author of mine. ❤️ Also, I love the Light Bringer Series! Please read Robin Hobb. She is one of my favorite authors, though Assassin’s Apprentice is one of my least favorites by her.
I can’t wait to read allll the Octavia Butler! I’ve heard the most amazing things! Lightbringer is soooo good 🥰 ahh that’s good to know about Assassin’s Apprentice that even if I don’t LOVE that one, to just keep going 😄
Ooh nice mic! :D I'm still mad that Rage of Dragons has such high ratings. hahaha! Aaahhhhh Demon King! I really love the Seven Realms series. It's just super solid! The spinoff/continuation series wasn't quite as solid but ONE of the books was SO GREAT.
Omg haha I know I’ve seen only the title of your rage of dragons review video and I’m waiting to watch it until after I read it but I’m so nervous after seeing that hahaha 🤣🤣 Yay! I’ve just heard such great things about that series, I’m really excited about it!
Am new to the channel so maybe you already read and/or talked about it but anyway, I highly recommend The Demon Cycle series. It's a 5 book fantasy series. Every night there are the demons that come out from the Core and their hide and skin and all is so thick that it's very difficult to impossible to kill them with normal means and the only protection against them are wards and the book follows a dude Arlen who tries to find the wards that are said to be able to harm the demons and there are other pov characters and also some politics and all. I really recommend it and only have one problem with it; there are 2 rap* scenes and that is a big turn off but I vouch that the rest is really full of great stuff. And about Malice and the Faithful and the Fallen series: I'm glad that you try it out it's sooo underrated. It's easy a 9/10 for me and there is a follow up trilogy called Of Blood and Bone who takes place around 130 years later and is as good as the Faithful and the Fallen. But I guess you should read the Faithful and the Fallen first before I praise the follow up series lol
Girl. Get ready. I neverrrr get anxious reading but this one got me. The situations just seemed insurmountable and I was just internally screaming "HOW ARE THEY GONNA GET OUT OF THIS!!" lol. I can NOT wait for the 3rd book
Yay!! I’m so glad to hear that! I got this one off amazon: www.amazon.com/dp/B01AG56HYQ/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_Tpk8EbSHB1B0V I was happy to see it wasn’t too expensive 😄
Hi !! I've just come across your channel and I love it :) I think you're really going to like The Expense series. It is almost finished and one of the very rare books series in which quality is constant and might even be increasing.
@@JessieMaeBooks I'm really happy to have come across your channel, I'm always eager to find people that read somewhat in the same genres as me (sci-fi, fantasy, graphic novels...) but most of Booktune is overcome with YA. Which is fine but most of those books are not hits with me. Thank you again for doing those videos and looking forward to watching you!! (in a less creepy way than it sounds, haha)
Well I’m so glad you’re here and can’t wait to chat books with you!! Yes, I’ve found that in recent years YA books just haven’t been working as much for me, but I do still find gems in the genre but I have soo much in the adult space to explore so it’s been fun! 😄😄
@@JessieMaeBooks Same !! I still absolutely love Philip Pullman and I fell in love with Strange the Dreamer lately. Red Rising is also such a good series !!
Jessie Mae I used to like them as well, The First Law and ASOIAF used to be my favorite book series. But now I don’t know I prefer something slightly more light hearted like Lord of the Rings. And with Phil Dragash’s audiobooks which have soundtracks from the movie and sound effects....it’s AMAZING!
If you haven't read It he Eyes of the Dragon by Stephen King you should. It is really good. I just finished the last book in NK Jemisin series and it is amazing.
I was looking away when you mentioned “The Girl Who Could Move Sh*t With Her Mind” so I thought you just tossed “shit” in the title and looked over bewildered like “what’s this book?” 😂🤣
Don't feel bad about buying books. I think I have bought 200 books this year. Why? Because it makes me happy. No excuses. My money. My choices. much love, amy
Not rude at all! 😄 a very fair question! I used to turn my unread books around on my shelf so that it motivated me to read them faster because I didn’t like not being able to see their spines haha but I don’t do it anymore!
I love buying books, but then I get last minute "check out anxiety" that actually keeps me from spending money. I probably should be thankful for it, but dang it, I want stuff
I get that all the time! I actually used credit card rewards to get gift cards for these books so didn’t feel as guilty hitting the check out button! Haha 😂
You should read One Punch Man manga it's about Saitama a superhero who can defeat anyone with One Punch but people don't acknowledge him and he can't find villains who can give him some fight so he's bored and you can see him do daily life things, it's really good
I disagree with the about the best SF writer of all time. I.am very old school about this sort of thing. Andre Norton is the best of all SF writers of all time.
