So I was looking around for some inspiration…and also to do something novel. While I was cleaning up on a project on the house, I thought to myself that I could use the scrap drywall and lumber for a Star Wars Panel. I wanted it to have a Galaxy’s Edge kind of feel, even though the base design is very empire. I think the mashup of those two worlds came out very nice.
I did learn that using fiber optics is much trickier than expected. I wanted it to look like electrical sparks, but unless the room is completely dark…it was unnoticeable. I chalk that up to a learning curve.
Since I have started this journey, a part of my goals is to always make the price point of these props to be as close to the zero cost as possible. Using found items and scraps help make most any prop affordable…another reason why I like this hobby. I also learned that while drywall and 2x4’s can be used…they make for a very heavy prop. So foam and ¼” mdf will still be my go to for future builds. This was just a “Can I do it experiment?”
….Mission Accomplished
