Amazing how much better a film can be when the makers actually explain what's going on instead of just writing 1/2 a story and then forcing the viewer to figure out the rest. Great job!

Everybody keeps saying to these short "that was great, make a whole movie" in the comments. I recently listened to an interview with Neil Blomkamp ("District 9", Oats Studios) in a podcast. He produced some remarkable shorts with his Oats Studios which you can watch for free on his website, also short films. He said if you are thinking about making a full length movie you can barely get around traditional movie making and financing and this leads to all sorts of limitations like a certain plot structure, budgets for everything and so on. He knows the business and I believe he's right there. What we love about these shorts is they don't do all that traditional movie stuff. They sometimes don't give a f*** on how you're supposed to make a movie and for them, it works. It might not when the creative minds behind those shorts get forced to integrate into the traditional movie world... In other words: be careful what you're wishing for, or that dream might become a nightmare.

Exactly, I always roll my eyes whenever I come across the "This needs to be turned into a movie" section why can't the two co-exist? Hollywood/Movies produce many crappy & unnecessary scenes that keep you sitting for 2 to 3 hours, who's got time for that? I was having my breakfast & needed a quick watch and these shorts serve exactly that purpose. Different content exists for different reasons guys.

And Neil would know - his short film "Alive in Joburg" got expanded into "District 9".....

Yeah, but that's not an inherent flaw in turning a short into a full-length flick, but rather limitations placed on creativity by the big studios. They're not willing to experiment and take gambles. They go for safe money making over unique stories.
@dereinzigwahreRichi
@dereinzigwahreRichi 9 месяцев назад
@@me73941 that is right and you could indeed make a movie without all these limitations but that would mean to stick to independent platforms start to end, that means financing via kickstarter etc., streaming it just on YT or similar, maybe getting it screened at some festivals, putting out some DVDs in online sale, but not much more. It would be a love project, not a commercially successful one. Iron Sky comes to mind here but I don't remember the exact story of its creation.

That's what everyone always says to each dust short film. I don't disagree, it was great and it may be a good plot for a movie, but also maybe it's great as it is because what it is.

There's a huge difference between a 9mins short film to a 90-120 mins one. Keeping the story, tension, suspension, pacing, etc is getting harder each minute a film is longer.

Full length movies have so much unnecessary fluff, which adds nothing to the story, just to make it longer.

C'était bien! The best SciFi is always able to introduce new/fresh concepts that compel us to ponder the moral, ethical, and political ramifications of on society, and this little gem does just that. With breakthroughs in quantum computing, nanotechnology, and robotics, I can definitely envision a future in which nano-bots are deployed by a totalitarian government, or a multinational corporate conglomerate, on an unsuspecting population in order to induce mass hallucinations.

I hope that the state will never get into the heads of its citizens, because then we will not be able to be sure of anything. In ourselves, in what we see... in everything. Therefore, it is a bad idea, no matter what they promise us. And by the way, at first glance this short film seems unremarkable, but damn it! You managed to so succinctly tell us a story with many plot twists about a hypothetical future where neuroimplants have become commonplace. This is impressive. This is how short films should be made, so that it is a compact film 😃

Acting and directing with a captivating AI monstrosity plot. My technical background finds the plot implausible. Network technology is with In/Out loop signals just as every cellphone has a constant ping signal keeping data packet readiness with the next nearest tower in any traveler. That's why wearing cellphones next to the flesh all day is a cancer risk. The receiver nanobot enables the reception of live-feed images in a network. The central plot tech idea the "camera-live-feed" nanobot "augmentation" activating the receiver image modification "hack" of perfection is so much more dangerous microwave radiation than everyone infested with and brain-tissue embedded with the receiver In/Out Loop Ping nanobot seems implausible. The whole networking data streaming brain image hack is microwave toxic from the start. If one cellphone can give a lot of women breast cancer for wearing it in their brazier when driving their daily commute to work, then 20 thousand nanobot In/Out loop microwave signal networking devices embedded in everyone's brain has to be massive cancer death risk. So then, this as an actual science fiction scenario is implausible. But it is a captivating story and well done expose' on ethics in AI research and corporate capitalism issues.

🟦... Very well done!...taught and well-paced from beginning to end!.... .... However, there IS one thing that I don't understand, and that is how the mechanics of it reach outside the confines of her skin to affect her clothing!... And does that mean her clothing becomes an extension of her & she can feel of it as she would her own skin?

Very impressive story line and production. No problem at all turning this into a full feature film with a series of flashbacks to the deaths during testing. The party and meeting the young lady. Perhaps the young lady should be the daughter of one of those that died.

I see similar comments under every short film, but in my memory there has not been a single case when a short film would become a full-fledged film... it seems to me that what was originally intended to be short will remain so.

Rather well acted , but a bit sloppily plotted: The viewers of the film have no "nanobots," so Holly's appearance should never have replicated the man's from our POV once she murdered him because there was no other character to be fooled. This is particularly true since she broke the "fourth wall" and spoke directly to us, belying any suggestion of an omniscient POV. Another actor, another character's POV, was needed subsequently for Holly to appear in her new form as the dead man to the new character and, thereby, the viewers.
