"Melody Skylark And The Cosmic Soup" is maybe our most ambitious film yet, especially in terms of visual effects. It appears you are totally mistaken. That wasn't a happy ending, not even an ending at all, but rather just the beginning, and the beginning of a deadly fight against impossible odds for all we can tell. 😜 On a more serious note, for quite some time now, let's say it has been going on in ever increasing intensity for roughly 70 years (though i admit the number is somewhat arbitrary and others could be argued), most of the commercial entertainment industry, and more recently, quite some indie creators too, seem to think that everything is just entainment and nothing but fun no matter what. Including, like in this case, looming armageddon in a dystopian setting. Sure, there is quite a bit of mocking parody of clichés of heroism here, too, but it still appears to be mostly intended as funny and entertaining...

I see a lot of comments wanting this to become a series or a movie , but to me, you guys made a perfect 13 minute film that says and does everything it needs to.😊 As a music lover myself,l really appreciate the great weapon against the invaders. I'm imagining this as a series, in which different people--like Melody--are recruited to stop the Eternal Ones, by revisiting things they used to love to do, but life 'forced' them to put away: Rod Zingleman and the Cosmic Cheeseburger (the condiments do the messaging), Deena Miller and the Constellation of Chocolate Chip Cookies, etc. Then, they must team-up, with Melody, to defeat the ultimate Eternal One.

@@maxpayne2574 Not if you put some thought into how each person is warned--perhaps have other things happen to them that would differ from another person. The concept of being warned and fighting back is an old trope, but with some clever writing, it could work.

Haha yes!!! Emily was such a trooper when we filmed that. It’s way harder to slide like that on carpet in PJs than you’d think. And yeah we felt bad about John too. Unfortunately he got Astral Bound and was basically destroyed haha 😢

This was terrific. Funny, suspenseful, well-written and expertly directed. And the cast was pitch-perfect. Emily Topper was especially good, playing the role with just the right mix of humor, exasperation and resolve. 4.6/5

@@ecphorizer Yes -- though your question isn't unfounded. The humor and the mythos of the material make the outcome predictable, of course, in the same way you know any protagonist in this kind of story will be victorious in the end. But when done well, suspense in this genre is created not so much by whether the hero will win, but how they will get out of this or that impossible situation. To that end, the guitar was an unexpected MacGuffin -- and clearly an artful nod to Bill and Ted -- and fit with the doesn't-take-itself-too-seriously tone of the film.

I Absolutely Adored this film! It really took me back to those feel good, Christmas classic, "adventure films" of old, that the whole Family could watch & enjoy together.. *memories* lol.. Lot's of Comedy, a cute, silly adventure story about saving the Earth, goofy jokes AND an epic battle involving a guitar as the Ultimate "anti Alien invasion" weapon!?! What's Not to love?? I really enjoy this kinda self deprecating humour, especially when it's done right.. Like this!! ! I might even be looking forward to Christmas after watching this Beautiful, wee film! Also, Really good acting, a Fantastic film crew and a Fabulous soundtrack added an epic, extra riff into the overall fun in this short film. Excellent work!! Please Make this short into a Classic style, Family film ASAP!!! AAA+
