The reason the metal ball didn't really do anything is because of the Leidenfrost effect. Because the ball was so hot, it created a layer of gas nitrogen that kept the liquid nitrogen from actually touching the ball.

I use chalk to mark fabric. Whiteboard chalk is the best to use because it's easy to remove from fabric. I have this chalk that stains fabric because it's made of some kind of waxy substance, it really doesn't make sense for it to be called chalk but whatever.
