I am going through the whole foundations of strength and conditioning series and taking notes diligently on everything. Very impressed with all your content. I have a crossfit training bias, and am finding myself more and more concerned with finding a method of building strength in the big 4 and developing power and strength in the Olympic lifts. For someone looking to improve weightlifting strength would one suggest to incorporate more or less specificity to compliment conditioning? Does the same overload principles from a general phase to the specific phase apply when doing more conditioning? Does incorporating more frequent deloads, say monthly deload phases to manage fatigue become more critical?

You say about heavy training session being too close to each other, can lead to over training ect.... so my question is that. I had a big heavy session on competition lifts on Friday, where I attempted 100% twice on snatch and 95% on C&J. The following day was heavy back squats . Sunday is rest day but Monday is back to heavy session on on snatch starting at 80% triples 85% double 90% double 95% single drop back to 85% double then back up 90% double and 95 % single. This was session didn’t happen because I woke feeling like crap and my whole body hurts. Would this be an example of too close of heavy session?

Hi, I am a big fan of your RU-vid channel. I have a question for you JTS. Would you consider a first time 6 month powerlifting training cycle which took the bp from 105 kilos to 120 kilos, the sq from 140 to 180 kilos and the dl from 135 to 145 kilos, for a 120kg male lifter at 30 years old, a successful one? The ohp (strict) went up to 75 kilos from 60 kilos. The lifter has 10 years of experience doing bodybuilding-style training in the gym and 10+ years of experience of practicing different kinds of sports at the amateur level. Thanks!

it is a bit weird that your deadlift is quite weak compared to your squat but i guess its because you have done squats before already when you were focusing on bodybuilding ^^
