Scientology makes it easy for public officials to side with them. They invite them to huge parties where they are served with the best meals and entertainment, they are shown all of the icing (PR) on top of Scientology. And all of this gives them a warm feeling as a proud supporter. So much, that it doesn't even cross their mind to do deeper research into types of crimes they're supporting by doing this.

100,000 happens to be one of the higher estimates, the only higher one is 200,000 scientologists worldwide. This is 152,000 fewer members than there are Jedi in just the UK according to the last UK census. Incidentaly, the last census recorded fewer than 2000 scientologists in the whole of the UK. My msg to him: I was dismayed after watching the hearing on protests 'targeting' a dwelling. To watch all cogent arguments simply ignored shook my faith in the propriety of local government in Riverside. The concern over the wording "property line" was ignored, the definition of "targeting" was dealt with glibly, the VITAL request to defer and exempt multi-use properties was ignored. Special interests held sway. The only person to emerge unscathed in my eyes was Roy Wilson and he was misled.

I don't understand how any government entity can issue any type of law or ordinance infringing on free speech. The bill of rights clearly states: Bill of Rights Amendment I Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

My neice was stopped by them in street,she asked if they were scientolgists-they said they were just giving info on Dianetics studies.Thankfully she said NO!

I grew up in the Riverside area and Riverside Sheriff patrolled our city. It was a all messed up then...and it sounds like it's messed up now. Riverside is weird...end of story.

NOT true, I was baptized catholic at 23 days old. I was forced by my parents to attend a catholic school and kneel daily to a fictional character and when I grew up, my family still treats me like shit for not attending Mass.

I watched the meeting, Jeff Stone is bought and sold in my opinion. The arguments of exempting multi-use properties were ignored. Property Line wording was ignored and the property line wording was ignored. Even I discerned that the ordnance would exclude all protests based on the obvious wording described during the meeting based on the fact that they have residences on both sides of the road and the law says "property line". It is a disgrace that they rubber stamped this law.

Yes of course by peaceful protest. Imagine how bad it is going to look when mass arrests are taking place against peaceful protesters against an unpopular organization with questionable ethics. But that might be best reserved as the last resort. Sometimes I get too passionate.
