In my lifetime I just want to see the tax exempt status revoked from this cult

I was in Scientology in the 70s and 80s as a child. I attended the Scientology school (called Apple School at the time, and then Ability Plus later on) I was on course a lot. I attested to Clear at age 12. I recall reg cycles where I was heavily pressured and coached on how to scam money from non-Scientology family members to pay for more courses. My step-dad had a good job as an aerospace engineer and made great money, but we were always broke. We would make trips to his father's ranch (his dad had money) and I was coached what not to say because the purpose of going there was to scam grandpa out of more money to give to Scientology. Parents took out a 2nd and then a 3rd on the nice house we had, then we didn't have it before too long. Despite being upper middle class, there wasn't enough money for Scientology - they were always pushing for more courses and more money. I got to Clear at 12 because I was a smart kid. Smarter than my parents were, at least in recognizing the bullshit. I played the game to told them what they wanted to hear, that's all. Clear, what a joke. I hated them for it. They financially destroyed my family and as far as I'm concerned engaged in child abuse (not physical) by how they treated me. The organization is evil. The higher ups running things are evil. Most the line level scientologists I knew were super cool people, very smart even. But they lacked something, they had holes in them that Scientology filled and exploited. In the end it all comes down to one thing - MONEY. It's all about money, every bit of it leads back to the bottom line. Age old greed wrapped up in modern science fiction. Grifters.

I was a little disappointed the FSM hat wasn't an actual hat.

When our cruise ship visited Aruba recently, the Freewinds was docked next to us and looked as though it had been there for a while. We saw maybe four or five people on deck at times, but not many. One of the locals told us Aruba was its home port and that it didn't leave very often. I've always questioned Scientology being labeled a "religion". My view is, they don't worship a God. They only worship money they get from someone dumb enough to give it to them.

My dad was a doctor. He told me that sometimes he had patients with adult children in this cult. The kids would ask their parents to get their inheritance while the parents still lived, and if they signed it over to the adult children they would hear little, or nothing from them again

I’ve done a lot of research into Scientology in the past 12 years. I had to stop for awhile because of how disturbing and aggravating it was. You’re bringing me back in, I have high hopes for what you’re exposing, keep up the good work! Also, your neighbor not wanting to disconnect from your dog was one of the funniest and unreal examples of the nonsense that is Scientology.

It's amazing to me how there are so many people who are both rich and gullible! Just because someone became financially successful doesn't mean they can't fall prey to cults.

I imagine that convincing people to pre-pay for services also helps keep people in the cult by exploiting the sunk-cost fallacy. People will think they shouldn’t leave because they’ve got all this auditing paid for that they still have to use.

In June, our cruise ship docked in Aruba next to the Freewinds, and I didn’t know anything about Scientology or the Freewinds, but I got a very dark, uneasy feeling looking at it. When I searched Freewinds on the Internet, I was horrified to read about it. We saw a few people running laps on the deck, but very few people on board. I’ve never seen anything that gave me the creeps, like that! Apparently, it’s not allowed to travel in American waters because of the high levels of asbestos on it. 😳

The auditor who did my OT Eligibility auditing was a Class IX who was sent to the FSO from the Freewinds for her "Golden Age of Tech" retraining. The one who did my OT Preps was a class XII in training. My auditor for TRs and Objectives was a Class VIII. He took Me up through NED. When I went into Scientology I had certain goals I wanted to achieve. I did, and I'm happy to say, 20+ years later, It was a good experience. I'm glad I got in when I did and I'm glad I got out when I did.

We took a (normal not Scientology) cruise last December and docked next to the Freewinds in Aruba for a couple nights. Dude: that ship is EMPTY. I was fixated on counting the number of non-SO people on the visible upper/outer decks at any given time - the most I ever saw was 8 or 9 - this is assuming anyone I didn't see in uniform was non-SO, meaning it could have been fewer 'passengers' than my presumptive count. Even saw one guy getting his picture taken with his OT-8 framed certificate. There were other weird things about the scene too, especially considering the covid precautions they were taking which were way above & beyond anything I saw anywhere else.

Why don't people just see this as a money business..end of!!

As a person with an accounting background, whatever portion of prepaid services that have not been given must be listed as a liability in their annual report
