how much power does the stage 1 on basic tune put out? how much is the cost of kit not including labor of installation? and do you not have to lower the compression ration for the turbo kit because it is HIGH stock..?
I'm wondering what a setup like that is costing you and how maintainable is it? I love mine but it noticeably lacks power in 4th-6th. Even a smaller boost that puts it in the 300whp would be awesome.
What option of turbo did you go with? For example: t3 50-57 trim or GTX2867R? And is this the actual "Base kit" or is this the premium? The things a monster though.
turbo brz's dont have anything astonishing down low in the rpms but with almost all tunes by the time you reach 4k you are right in the power band... Most guys use fairly small turbos to create 300whp so spooling time is pretty small even compared to a stock sti
Still super low on torque though, how much did the whole kit cost and did it void warranty? My tuned cobalt ss tc could probably still beat this as it has like 80 more torque, but I do love these cars. Just scary in my car to pass and floor it (torque steer has almost pulled me off the road, hold on!)
I always said these cars should have 300-330hp stock and sell them for 5-8 k more. Some bolt ons and tune and these cars would be up another 100hp making them a tuners dream.
Austin Heisler ha you got to be kidding me, Crawford is stupid, yeah it will get you 300hp but for that price... just get full blown or go the supercharger route. Crawford is too pricey for what it gives. not worth
@schmoo7777 Funny you think 80 torques will make your car beat another car... The FRS is light so it doesn't need much torque. And torquesteering all over the place only happens with FWD so this one doesn't have any problems with that :D
I am up in AB Canada. Ya, it would beat mine for sure with that much power. Have you replaced the brakes too? Apparently they are terrible stock ones. I just figure they should charge 3 g more for the car with a stock turbo to avoid aftermarket complications and huge expenses. Otherwise I'd pick up one of them for sure, but I don't think worth the money to invest more than 5 g into a car when you could step to the next level of cars. But will still do a quarter time for ya!
Why does everyone put the clutch in as soon as they lift off the throttle? Never understood it but I see so many people do it. It's a bad habbit. Try a throttle blip on those downshifts too, makes them smoother, easier on your clutch, and less likely to shift lock if you do it more aggressively.
gavin Gaulin Not necessarily but that's another topic. I don't mean why do they put the clutch in at all, I mean why do they let the revs drop all the way to idle after a pull. You should always have your transmission engaged while the car is moving.
running 460WHP, I think anyone with a reasonable amoutn of car knowledge can tell you that you would fry the following if left stock; Rods, Pistons, clutch/drive train, gearbox, CV joints would be shredded straight of there sockets.
A turbo brz is the best all around car for the money tbh. Idk why people bitch it should come like that from a factory when you can do it yourself for 5k.
guys is this car really worth it? im thinking about selling my highly modded r34 gtr for this loool since that fucking thing is expensive to maintain....
