So I’ve been using Boston sim plus for about 2 years and had so much fogging during the day and daily build up. Would have to remove my contacts 2-3 times a day and refill. I finally changed to Unique PH and I haven’t had any fogging up! I maybe start seeing some fog after about 8-9 hours. Wonder what Boston did to the lenses? Or maybe caused an allergic reaction for me??
I have scleral lenses that are not coated with hydrapeg. I use Boston Simplus. If I dont plan on wearing my lenses for 3-4 days, can I leave it stored soaking in the Boston Simplus? If not, what’s the maximum amount of time you’re allowed to leave your lenses soaking in the Boston?
My optometrist provided me with Clear Care with HydraGlide & BioTrue. Is it safe to switch between the two? I will use Clear Care twice a week, but BioTrue the other days
Hi can I leave my scleral lenses more than 4 hours in the carrying case with the Boston Simplus solution like maybe all day if I’m not gonna use my scleral lenses that whole day or can it only be kept 4 hours ?
Unique ph is $21.00 per 4oz bottle and lasts 2 weeks if you fill the case so the scleral lens is completely submerged. So essentially the base cost just to see is $42.00 per-month not counting the saline, probably another $5 bucks. My question is can the solution be used for two nights in a row instead of just one, thus doubling the supply? Will bacteria grow in the solution after 24 or48 hours?
Solution needs to be discarded daily. One of the biggest outbreaks of infection stems from people reusing solution. We NEVER advise using solution for more than 1 day.
So I have RGP sclaral lenses. A person at the front desk of my local eye care place suggested Unique PH since they dont keep Cleae Care in stock anymore...or they're brcoming discontinued. With that, when cleaning my contacts at the end of the night could I just use the Unique PH to clean them and soak them overnight or is it more of a MUST to clean them with the Boston cleaner bottle first??
Hi doctor what we have to do after removing from storage solution, can we put directly in our eye with insertion solution or we have to rinse it with something else before putting it in the eye?
Kiran You can rinse the lense with a regular contact solutions if you want. However, if you shake the excess storage solution (unique PH or Boston simplus) off, you should be able to fill it with your preferred filling solution and wear as directed.
Lenses with Hydra-peg are incredibly slippery but aside from that there aren’t a lot of tell-tale signs. The best way to find out would be to contact the provider you got them from.
How long can a RGP scleral lens be stored in Unique PH solution? I have seen literature that states the RGP lens may be stored for up to 30 days in unique PH solution, while others say this is not so.
Hi , when I'm wearing sceral lens my eyes are producing lots of mucus doctor. No one is able to figure it out. I'm from Toronto is there any way you can help me out?
When you have excess mucus buildup you and your doctor should discuss: 1. The material that you’re in for the lenses. 2. Adding Hydra-PEG. 3. Using a conditioning solution. Before and after taking out the lenses and 4. And possibly an allergy eye drop as it may be a result of allergies. We also recommend using Clearcare without HydraGlyde as a storage solution. But these are merely suggestions. Only your eye doctor knows your specific situation and they should be consulted with any and all of these changes.
I dont know If I have hyro pack(is that what you called). on my lenses. But doctor told me to use it. But doctor give me clear care solution written hydraglyde on it.
We always defer to your individual Doctor. We avoid it based on our previous experience, but trusting your eye care professionals is core and key to optimizing your care.
