Laapata Ladies, I agree Ravi Kishan was over the top through out the film but he more than made it up in the last scene. Excellent banter as usual - love it and look forward to the next episode. Thanks guys.

The criticism Chamkila faced was primarily about his music & lyrics. The movie needed to have all of that music because it was important to see how his music was accepted by masses and criticised by antis. Making a movie on Chamkila without showing what kind of music he made, how he depicted the society in his lyrics and why he chose to sing the songs he sang would have been pointless.

You all should do a daily program that analyses every public meeting of the ruling party and highlights what they are saying. Are they talking of what new/ good they will do or they criticizes the opposition party or they talk about religion or something else.

I don't know how you guys are watching things, but at least laapata ladies a consistent language to it. I think it is supposed to be a little innocent and goofy which is the vibe that every character imbibes pretty well. On the other hand Chamkila felt a little bland and inconsistent, the graphics/animation were so different from one scene to the other. The music was good but Parineeti only visually looked the part but her acting was the worst thing I've seen, she wasn't even close to the punjabi desi-ness, her way of talking felt very delhi like and it felt like she was Parineeti and not Amarjot at all. The kids in Laapata ladies did such a convincing job on the other hand, again given the 'fictional' sweet village setting they were in.

So this guy totally forgot to mention that Chamikla is made in Hindi ! He was a Punjabi singer and castism is not that big in Punjab. The whole propaganda is to defame Sikhism and Imtiyaz Ali did a good job. Chamkila got killed of his vulgar songs not because of his cast .

Jayshree - you go take a walk! Watch movies like La La Land, Cindrella etc to review. Aapse na ho payega mohtarma. Watched half of Chamkila and you land here to to give your two bits??! Abhinanda, get some serious reviewers please! She clearly has a bias that is too deep rooted; try as she might she won't be able to rise above that about Punjabi music. I don't have any issues about your not liking Chamkila or Tamasha (seriously? Reviewer worth your salt?! Yahaan kar kya nahi ho?). You should just watch some frothy, light films to review. Anything deeper - and you will end up hating them most passionately like you did Tamasha! Chill, koi na - I aint watching your reviews anymore.
