I can’t believe those great prices!!!! They are like thrift store prices but way better quality items. That lamp was my favorite! The bidding room is awesome! So exciting!
I worked for a company called Fortunoff’s and we sold them for $3.99 on sale in the late 1970’s. They flew off the shelves at Christmas time. One guy bought 50, one for each employee in his company, inspected each set and if they had a flaw we’d have to run and find new stock. ($3.99 and he wanted them perfect!) Then we had to wrap each one...free gift wrapping at Christmas. This lead to the demise of my life in retail. (I believe they were not real Crystal but knock offs of something similar)
I love ‘shopping’ with you two. You have crossed the line from pickers to connoisseurs.Congrats on that wreath! 👍 I hope we get a peek at the bookcase when it is filled!
That pottery bowl. I swear that is Mary Borgstrom. Do you not watch the Curiosity Incorporated channel? She was a hoarder in Canada and he bought her house. She is a very famous potter and her stuff is worth big money. Go to his channel and look for the Potter house series. It is an amazing story where he gets to know her and sells some of the pottery he finds and gives the money to her family. He has the practice pieces where she figured out how she wanted to make her potter's mark and I think the mark on that bowl is her mark. Amazing find!!!!
IKR!! We just chucked our remaining vintage ornaments a few years ago because as kids we accidentally broke a bunch and we didn't have many left so it didn't match new ones, and we donated boxes of them when we cleaned out my grandmas house. Hindsight is 20/20 I guess :/
I remember seeing that brass wreath years ago at a high end store. It’s not real Dresden ornaments as they are made of paper. It still is a very pricey item! Great scores!
Love how excited you two are - Finders Keepers is very cool!! Andrew: Going to put the bookcase in my office Jocelyn: I can put glass in it. Andrew: Crickets 😂😂
Hey Jocelyn, re that ceiling mount light fixture that was painted silver... I've bought a lot of those types of light fixtures (for my 1929 farm house) that weren't in that great of condition, spray painted them dark green, then took acrylic paint and repainted them to look like they used to. Easy peasy.
Great picks! I had never heard of the Kay Finch pottery and Dresden brass wreath. I love that you teach us all the time. I don’t mind the music overlay but it was really loud, don’t mean to be nit picky - sorry!
Am I the only one who finds herself *waving back* at the screen when Joce & Drew (and Sue..) wave 'bye? Or do I need to seek professional help? I just love it when they geek out! And I wonder if the Pink Slip Room concept will find its way to their shop.. Happy Monday, all y'all!
I went thrifting this weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised to see some really nice stuff! I got a nice little gift for my stepmom (whom I know watches, so I'm not going to say why it is, but I found comps like it when I got home (I got it because it was very her, and not with resale in mind), and there wasn't any of this exact design, but the ones I did see went from $10-£50!! Which is nowhere near what I paid for it. I also got a nice Newfoundland piece for what I call my outlaws (my ex's parents who are a set of my son's grandparents) because they're proud Newfies. :) I am decently sure I saw some Eldrith pottery, but because it didn't have the mark, I left it. I saw some other really cool pieces that I was pretty sure we're vintage or at least retro, including a lamp! But because I didn't recognize a lable, I was comfortable leaving them. I literally have negative storage room (I have a lot of my collectables in boxes because I have nowhere to put them) so unless I know, for sure, that a piece is worth a fortune, I'm leaving it. They did have some absolutely stunning pieces, and I was sure to, any time I saw something I knew had value, say it very loud, so maybe someone else who needs the money, could pick it up and make a profit. I'm just nice like that 😊. Lol
Oh my goodness! I just got the holly and red berry dish for $1.50 at a thrift store for myself not knowing it was Lefton. This is one reason I watch your channel to keep learning. Thank you to both of you.
So nice to see a chain store that is not asking for your first born for their items! If more people would shop around and avoid the terrible 2 maybe their prices would eventually go down some 😉
I need a MAP. A MAP of places you recommend near you. because, I go right through your area to visit my mom in Maryland... and I'm sure not only fairy lamps, but so many OTHER THINGS NEED THE THINGS
Hi Jocelyn, the painting on that funky green and white pottery bowl appeared to have treetops painted on the inside of the bowl. It made me think of that poem or that modern classical music piece entitled, "Even Low Trees Have Tops". (I'm on my first cup of morning coffee; forgive my ramblings). Neat shop!
I really enjoyed your video.I felt like I was picking stuff with you.I wish we had one of those stores close!God bless you Jo and your family!Thank u!!
My DH is unaware of how lucky he is that there are no Finders Keepers stores in our area! I would certainly get my steps in taking half the store to the front counter!
I recently bought a barristers bookcase about the same size, from someone that was moving. Mine is actually 3 separate units so you could have added shelves to it. None of the glass was broken but it had been painted.
Good morning, I love watching your videos. You guys find some good things. I’d love to go picking with you guys. See you in the next Videos, BTW, I’m watching from East Tennessee ❤️
