Nice !! Love these LS430's. it was a toss up between an LS430 and my current daily a 2002 ES300 which i bought 3 years ago. I'm the 2nd owner of a black on black now with 184k miles. Bought it with 160k miles. Within the first 18 months i had alot of the OEM parts replaced due to them failing: Starter, Alternator, 4 struts (rears were leaking), Exhaust flex pipe (starting rumbling), ignition coil packs (cylinder #1 failed) replaced them with DENSO and all 6 DENSO plugs and replaced front brake calipers they were freezing up. I have more $ into it than what i paid but im ok with that. It will outlive me !

Congrats! You have one of the best variants of the ls430 with the 5spd, much stronger than the 6 speed in the later ls430.

I have owned a 2002 ls 430 for 2 years now. I changed the radiator with a new Denzo $250. The lower control arm bushings $115. Pcv valve $28. NGK plugs $100. Gas cap $29. Trunk and hood struts $40. Cabin filter $12.. Its almost 100% i just need to do the front kyb struts which i have $270.

Hello there , Drin transmission fluid completely when it's cold . Remove the transmission pan. Remove the fluid Felter. Remove transmission gears sensors , you will find around 6 or 8 polts with size 10 . Unplug the electric connectors. Take out the whole sensors as one piece. Put it in table and start to uninstall it part after part . Clean all sensors as sperate. Clean the filters inside each sensor. Start cleaning with WD-40, then with some gas fuel . Use tooth prush. Let them dry . Put then all together again . Clean the transmission filter verrrrry gooood , make sure no dirt inside. Put it back , and put transmission pan back . Using silicon, make sure to tighten the pan polts with hand . Wait the silicon to dry for one hour. Then use small tourq ranch. Wait for silicon to dry to next day . In the next day , first put Lucas transmission treatment, then complete the level with original Toyota transmission fluid. Start the vehicle, Make sure to level it when the car still cold . And make sure the level reach full of the cold level , not the hot level . Put the gear on number 1 , do not move , leave it stop 30 seconds Then number 2 and ، and do same thing . Then 3 , then 4 . Then Drive .Good luck execuse my English

Dude I too just bought an LS430 01 UL. Cosmetically not great but a fun project nonetheless! Amazing car and honestly much nicer than the gen 2 Celsior

Keep it stock but throw the 04-06 18 inch wheels on it when you get to the end of the project. It makes the car look so much better. I also had a base model years ago but mine was an 05. I LOVED not having the obsolete navigation system.

I want a 2005 year in black or silver exterior, with tan or grey interior in great condition, perferrably in the Custom Luxury trim or Ultra Luxury trim. Don't care about mileage as long as it was well taken care of with good service history.

And by the way , the noise sounds when you are filming on the driver side , it's not from the engine, it's from the tourq convertor. Just do as I said in my previous comment, and everything will be fine .

The 2001s had more engine issues. Should of got a 2004, 2005 or 2006.

How can I find those rims?

On my ls400 I had same steering wheel issue and I simply removed the plastic column cover wiggled wires and it started working and has been fine for months now! Just heads up before ordering a motor! Excited to watch the journey my friend.

I think your mistake was running the engine & transmission with a nearly-empty pan, and I wonder how much new fluid you put back in. Sometimes long dipstick tubes for transmissions can take 10-20 minutes for the fluid in the tube to drain before the dipstick reads correctly. My friend bought an 05 for $8k and it had a bad transmission too. Sounds like you were gonna need a tranny anyway.
