I just bought a black on saddle 2006 custom luxury with a clean title, folder of maintenance records, water pump/timing belt done, and 140k miles. Wouldn’t sell for anything less than $15k
@@Agu-042. Who was you referencing ! Me ? My Car ? Or someone else ? **Oops, I just found out that ‘Sick’ In American Parlance it means “ Fantastic “ sorry ..
Been watching your videos since I started researching The LS430. Ended up picking up a 2004 modern luxury with 153k miles that is very clean and runs so nice. Loving the car and don’t plan on ever selling it. I agree with so much of what you explain about the value of these cars especially the 2004s. The new Lexus look nice but I think these years of the early 2000’s were the best Lexuses ever made. Thanks for your videos.
I have exactly the same car as you, 2004 black on black, ML purchased 11/22 w 131k miles for $11.5k in greater Atlanta. Worth it. Love how quiet it is, but wish it had the double paned glass of UL. Learned a lot from your vids. Thanks very much.
I have an '02 CL and it has "Lamisafe" which is the laminated double pane you're referring to. All the perks without the hassle of rear a/c and air ride as addressed by the OP. Front windows are delaminating tho and it's been hard to find suitable replacements...still quiet as all hell!
Thanks for your video. We own a black 2004 UL with light interior. Paid $13K with 70,000 miles, one owner. Had to do replace 2 air shocks and leveler in Rt rear. $7000! Car now has 95k and did nothing else in 3 years! We drive from Boston to Cleveland twice a year and get about 30 mpg! The car will lower itself while on the highway to make more arrow dynamic. Radar cruse control works flawlessly and it’s and 04.! Quiet, comfortable and soft ride for 20 grand. Love it!
I am the 3rd owner of a 05 silver on black UL I bought for $9k 4.5 years ago with 116k on the clock. It has all service records including the certificate from the factory in Japan. Just as long as you keep up regular maintenance, you’ll be fine. Its got 202k miles now and just went to Lexus for the TB/WP, cam and crank seals with an oil change that cost me $2100 (free loaner ES350). I put an OEM Power Steering Pump, reservoir, rack and pinion w/ outer tie rods in last May for $2400. It’s just like a house, the cost of maintenance every year is about 2-3% of what it’s worth. You can pay to play or you can lease/rent. Great video btw 🤝🏿 Edit: The air struts were replaced at 80k🤓
if you can find a low mile toyota corolla for 4500 get back to me. they dont exist. Youll spend 7000-8000 on a 20 year old higher mile compact car in this market. Surely you are kidding. Guess what, you still have to maintain the corolla, its going to cost you some money here and here. Shocks dont last forever, or brakes, or other wear items. Pay to play. @@BeardWash
Bought an 04 ls430 Ultra Luxury grey on black. I’m 3rd owner clean title. Lifetime dealer maintained w records. Got 190k but feels amazing. My second lexus, last was an 04 rx330 both of these have been some of the best cars I’ve ever owned. I’ll never sell my LS I figure it’s only halfway thru it’s life with how well it runs at the moment. I’d advise anyone on the fence to do it. Materials, build quality, reliability, and function… nothing beats an early century JDM luxury flagship…
While I am a big Lexus fan and having rode in an ls430 can confirm it's ultra luxurious, I would say the car definitely looks it's age and wouldn't ever confuse it for a newer car
The UL is the most expensive. We don't get it just for the air ride. They almost all have blown out and went to struts. We buy them for the mini fridge, rear heated seats, vanity shades, highest trim on everything. No hate, just my 2 cents on why it's considered the "best" of them and most expensive. Very good and informative video, I encourage anyone in need of a car under 10k to go buy one. Very fun and ML sound system is phenomenal WHEN working right. Definitely have a certified mechanic check it out, some of them are abused and can be major basket cases. Trans fluid NEEDS to be changed every 30k or it will go out on you, highly recommend you check for that, and that it isn't jerky. Which if it is, it could just be the mount but it's unlikely, engine is amazing when maintained but their transmission is terrible. Power steering rack tends to go out aswell, if the power steering fluid is dirty this is a sign the rack is bleeding internally. Both of these are very costly. Maintain one of these near perfectly made beasts and it'll treat your right till you die
The LS430 has to be one of the best all-around sedans ever made. It has the same utterly demented pursuit of quality as its predecessor, while being a substantially improved design. Not sure why Lexus changed direction so much with the LS460 ... still a very nice car, and very powerful, but not nearly the same level of perfection.
You said the transmission did something funky: the 04 model year I hear is more prone to harsh downshift due to a bug in the ECU. There’s people who are able to fix this if you send the ECU to them.
I have a 2005 UL. I’m having the same issues with mine. My tranny slips when I drive it hard. It happened after I agreed to have the transmission fluid, replaced by the dealer after the seals began to leak. Later on, I found out that it would’ve been wise to catch the old fluid and put it back into the crank case again. I had a check engine light come on last year, and it turns out that it was one of the solenoids inside the transmission…. There are 9! 😭 The dealership service advisor advised to turn off the check engine, light and just baby the transmission; or else I would have to replace it. It’s been two years and I’ve been babying it and so far so good.
I planned to keep mine forever. Put over 20k into a UL over a year and a half. Had an older gentleman hit me and said he "didn't see me" turned right into me on a 2 lane hwy. It was way beyond trying to save and it got totaled. Insurance only paid out 10.5k but that was enough for a 2012 is350 f sport. Honestly miss the LS sometimes but the is350 is so much more fun and cheaper to maintain
Just bought a one owner black on black 2005 for 11k with 135k miles. Timing belt done at 89k miles. There was another guy trying to buy it at the lot but I had first dibs since I called ahead of time. He followed behind me on my test ride🤣sweet ride.
Wow you hardly put miles in this car. I bought mine June 2021 with 270xxx in mint condition. I now have 314xxx and going up daily. Ive had it for two years and i still love this car more than when i first bought it. Btw its an 04 moonlight pearl(basically pearl white) with tan interior. Looks really good in person.
LS 430 owners are the nicest people. There's an LS 400/430 for all tastes. I personally like the earlier base model 430s, especially without the center dash screen. I picked up my 2001 last year for $6,000 from the original owner. Loads of maintenance and under 200k miles. It's in Onyx Blue Metallic with the chrome monoblock wheels. Please, keep making more videos about these cars.
Glad to see you still have the car bro! Hope to see more of it. Wish I could have met up w ya sooner, have a baby due in a few weeks. Hope you’ve been doing well!
I bought my Cypress Pearl '06 LS430 CL back in 2021 with 120k on the clock for $11k. It's leaps and bounds ahead of the E34 and W212 I had in terms of reliability, but it delivers a proper feeling to it. Mercedes guys won't stop babbling on about the LS430 jUsT cOpYiNg the W140/W220, but they're missing the point: the LS430 is one of the rarest types of cars out there - a proper V8 RWD Japanese sedan. I have had to replace a few things, but it's one of the most satisfying cars I've ever driven. Even on Tein Flex-Zs, the ride is phenomenal, and even with muffler/resonator deletes, it's still quiet. Lexus hasn't been able to recreate the same greatness of the LS430 in any of their cars, whether it's the feeling to it, or the overall subtlety to their exterior design. To me, the LS430 is one of the top 10 best Japanese cars ever made, and I like that I got one before everyone started picking up on that.
I bought a 2005 UL around seven years ago. Black on black. The service cost has been a nightmare…. But I love the car. I’ve Replaced the timing belt, the serpentine belt, water pump, thermostat radiator cooling fan, Tensioner, spark plugs and the front rotors for the first time….. altogether, it’s been a little bit over 5K.
The thing about it is its sometimes confusing to people to put the car just in accesory mode with the button. With the turn switch its not confusing at all. Just a thought.
Great car ls 430. I have a pre facelift in platinum ice(smoky silver) black leather and keyless entry from 2001! In ireland here it was known as the smart key back then! I was blown away at the time with this tech. These are superior cars by a county mile compared to what’s out there now,no issue’s ever superlative mechanical refinement and enjoyable ease of use and stress free to drive and own. I have the highest recommendation for your video and what you say about ls430. I It is a masterpiece.
Nice video. I bought one of these not knowing how good they really are. I already have another car with black interior, no thanks. VERY HOT! I love my 430 's tan interior. Great video, good job !
There is no compromise in the engineering. My b-o-b LS430 didn't have any interior cooling problems near Death Valley. Even at 117-122* the inside of the car was a very pleasant place to be. Engine coolant never got past half way.
I’m paying like 50-100 a week but I don’t drive too too much. I agree gas is a lil much but I think if you have a light foot it’s worth it I can get 20-25+mpg while cruising
I am in England. I think our gallons are different from yours, but I get around 35 mpg on my regular 40 mile all motorway journey at 70 mph when legal. When constrained to about 55 mph on an all motorway journey I can approach 40 mpg, but have never made the magic 40 mpg yet. For very short journeys around town, in heavily congested traffic, average speed around 10 mph I am lucky to get 15 mpg. But on average, say 25 mpg overall I think it is brilliant for a 2 ton car, 155 mph top speed, 4.3 litre V8 . No turbocharger, virtually indestructible. We'll never see the like of the LS 430 again.
Modern Luxury is best because it doesn’t have the suspension system and a few other things like rear side window shades. It has many nice extras. I own one. I really enjoy it. I’m looking for another one for a collector and I’d prefer to find the custom Luxury. Under 60,000 original miles. And the 04-06 are the best. 04 had some issues but Lexus fixed it. I won’t buy any but 04-06. Mine is an 06.
I brought mine back in 2016 It's a 2006 Blk/Blk w/all the bells and whistles w/90k on it in North Carolina for my fiance', who relocated with me to California. I live in Rancho Cucamonga and she lived in Charlotte. after 3months of living together I broke it off and sent her back. She actually thought she was getting the car. lol I have a BMW 750Li I tell you!!! I TRUST the Lexus WAYYYY more than the BMW. I've been driving the Lexus to work 105mile round trip daily!! and now it has 225k miles on it Meanwhile the Beemer is in the garage needing work with 120k miles on it. I'm lucky to say that I came out smelling like a rose on both ends lol.
Nice I have a 06 Ultra. It's my till death do us part car. For the transmission to last I go to the dealer and have them do a drain and refill on the trans fluid. Keeps it as good as can be.
Mechanic is totally wrong, have done drain and fills for years, and first one was at 100k miles, every 30k miles since then. 160k now and shifts smoother than prior to the first drain and fill@@savvyroca
I HAVE A 04 LS430 ULTRA, I LOVE THIS CAR, HOWEVER, MY MARK LEVINSON AMP DIED ON ME AND I NEED A REPAIR SHOP TO RESURRECT MARK LEVINSON, I AM SICK OF RIDING WITH NO RADIO OR CD PLAYING 😢
Those low mileage vehicles are freaking awesome, but be prepared to dump around 5 to 8 grand into them, not including labor. When these cars sit, the O-rings and seals get very brittle, be prepared for leaks and lots of other shenanigans. But still worth it in my opinion.
* * Because it is THE BEST SEDAN OUT THERE as far as LUXURY, QUALITY, DESIGN, RELIABILITY, DEPENDABILITY...! No navigation, no air ride and it is the Sport suspension. Mine is a 2001 and still looks and drives like the first year! * *
People talk junk about the base models but they are the most reliable. You’ll never have a radio or nav problem in one. Thanks for the comment and watching
I juss bought a 2001 with 300 thousand miles on it & bad fuel injectors & i got into a car accident the car juss wont break 🫰🏾😎 my favorite car inna world lexus ls i hadd em both the ls400 n now i got the 430 i hadda 1998 ls 400 baught it at 255 thousand miles & it never broke i sold it wit 300k on it
Most people that are jealous are poor or wish they had more. Most greedy people have a lot so they dont get jealous. This could just be my opinion though. Thanks for watching.
That LX600 L is still listed for sale today..lol.. 7mts after ur video posted.. lol.. ur funny man, I enjoyed ur ramble and have an '05 LS Blk myself.. Best thing on 4 wheels..
Beautiful car. I drive a less than luxury car (2010 Camry LE with 222k miles) but I keep her like brand new. See you live in Charlotte. I drive Independence to work everyday and always drive along that right turn lane to cut in lol takes 5 minutes off my GPS ETA
I'm about to get a black with tan 2005 LS430 131K miles for $200 dollars cause they had water damage in the driver junction box in the trunk. Ciuld only cost me 150 bucks for the part, maybe a grand to fix it all if there is more damage.. but i dont care. Such a nice car.
This is comedy gold lmao. -No video structure or a single complete bullet point in the entire video. -Comment section is people posting absolute algorithm gold despite this fella yapping for 30 minutes Run this mf video up
6:28 Hahahahahaha this is so great. 100% terrible and 100% wrong answer because this is a banger and a bop. Follow it up with pure objective yapping and nothing related to the video
There's way too much hype around the LS430 at this point. Clapped-out, even salvage title, LS430s in my area are going for 11K. Prices have gone up at least 30% since May - thanks to famous RU-vidrs making lots of video content on them. One area I disagree with though, is that you make it sound like this car has Camry levels of reliability and cost of ownership - and it definitely does NOT. A person could EASILY sink 2-5K into a used LS430 like it's nothing, even doing a decent amount of the work themselves. In fact, I don't think I've seen a single LS430 for sale in my area that DID NOT need at least two to three thousand dollars of work. A $10K to 11K LS430 will likely cost a person $14-$16K by the time they fix everything a get caught up on deferred maintenance. It's still a good car, but most are 20+ years old now, too.
How bad is the highway drone with the muffler delete? It sounded pretty bad around 2,000 RPM (cruising), but it could just be how the microphone was picking things up.
It drones good. In previous videos I said dont do a muffler delete on a car that you drive highway a lot. My city doesn’t know how to make a highway still so I just city drive mainly. I like the sound and if you have it in manual shift and hold it in second/ third gear it has great rumble under deceleration.
I have an 05 And a 2010 and I bought them for reliability and the 05 will beat the 2010. But the 2010 rides just a little better and faster. However the leather in my 05 is better than 2010. I think Lexus peaked in 05-06. Not saying the others aren’t good because they are more reliable than just about any other car but they still aren’t quite as good as the 04-06. And yes, the other reason why I bought the second one is because it is a V8. I am buying several cars just because they are V-8s and big -I don’t want the future- this damn government and everything else is wrong about the future
Question? 2004 ls430 my uncle car water coming in floor gets wet any idea drains on sunroof or fresh air cabin overflowing since he don't wash the car regularly please help thank you
is kn filter really a better choice for it? Cause on my MB, kn filter is horrible, more dust and foul my maf sensor. Asking because I just got a ls430 with kn filter installed, it does not act up funky like mercedes though (rough idle due to foul maf) but I want to replace it with oem filter, just want to ask before throw them away
I found a black on black 2004 with the burnt edge wood or w/e you call it for 173k for 10k is that a good deal? Should I buy it? It’s a CL and I would daily it.
@@Maybe1Someday Thats what i thought. This is the most recent service done earlier this year. Waterpump / timing belt tilt motor -telescoping motor -radiator -steering wheel refinished -oxygen sensors -drive belt -Allignnent -Ecu rebuilt by SIA -Transmission fluid service -bumper moldings -hood struts - new oem upper control arms -Air filter -passenger folding mirror motor/gear
Yeah people comment in Europe saying they are cheap, its cus your gas is expensive so its still actually cheaper here in the long run even if the car is expensive
@@Maybe1Someday Absofreakinglutely. (Especially if you add all the taxes, on labor, on parts, on insurance, road tax, parking and-as implied above-on gas.) So, there’s actually a fourth reason “why you are here”: “you” desire to buy an LS430, but can’t afford it (yet) 😬
