It’s a lot of fun! Great summertime activity. There are a few in the wash behind my house, but I haven’t found any in the yard yet. As soon as it warms up a little more here, I’ll do another scorpion video. Definitely easy to find them in Arizona!

The reason why I looked at your video is because I found a scorpion A few nights ago that must be 6 or 7" it was The biggest scorpion I have ever seen in my life green and Gray I tried to capture it. With a Plastic container that I threw over him Went inside to find something to put him in when I came back it was gone I've been looking for him every night I've told other people how big the scorpion was but Nobody believes me, so I need to capture it Not sure if they stay around in the same area or do they keep moving 2 other areas

@@AK-hw9ij Pocket knife. I stab them in the face and dump the bodies in a small tub of soapy water. If they're knee high, I try to knock them into the tub with the knife to drown them. Sometimes, I'm not very nice.

I found this note in the Internet Another unique identifying trait is its behavior. The Bark scorpion will lay its tail completely flat and “cocked” to its side when ambushing prey and waiting to strike.

@@ReganOutdoors you don't want to do it hands-free that's your choice. I just want others to see that high-tech is always best.
@ReganOutdoors
@ReganOutdoors 2 года назад
What? Have you tried using a headlamp WHILE filming? Lining up the light on your headlamp with the camera and angle you’re shooting would require you to face in that exact direction with your head and neck. That’d make for some pretty awkward and not precise filming. Not to mention a headlamp blankets the light on everything. A handheld lets you direct the light correctly. I actually shoot with the light pointed just to the side of the camera, as if it’s directly on the scorpion, the ISO on the camera gets overloaded, causing picture wash-out. Also, to pinpoint the scorpion on camera, you have to get within a few inches. I’m not sticking my head that close. If you want to use a headlamp to look at them, great. But using one to film is a terrible choice.

Any standard black light will do. I picked mine up on Amazon for around $15. Just search the term “black light flashlight”. The brighter the better as you’ll have a larger field of view for the scorpions.

@@ReganOutdoors The worst is always the first 24 hours although I was feeling the effects of the venom for about 3 days. I climbed into bed to take a nap and there was one in the sheets with me. Stung me twice on the thigh. Area around the sting throbbed for about an hour until it went numb when the venom hit my blood stream. Ice pack and some ibuprofen helps. After that I was light headed and generally felt like crap, along with the weirdest tingling sensation. If you've ever had a limb go numb because you slept on it wrong and you feel that pins and needles feeling when the blood flow returns....imagine that expect its on your face and it lasts for hours. I'm no doctor, but after about 3 hours I was pretty sure I was having a mild reaction (no breathing problems or vomiting) so I went to bed and slept through the worst of it. 0/10 do not recommend.

Just moved to AZ. Within 24 hours my daughter was stung by a bark scorpion. She is 17 years old and 98 lbs. Just bought everyone black lights.
@ReganOutdoors
@ReganOutdoors 3 года назад
Oh no! So sorry to hear that! I hope she was okay. Definitely the lesser the weight the greater the impact of the venom. Arizona neighborhoods are hit or miss. Some neighborhoods have scorpions, while others don’t. And in the neighborhoods that do have them, you’ll have a house that will have them, and the house next door might not get them at all. Really is the luck of the draw. Good move on getting black lights. Check bedding before bed with the lights off, shoes (clapping them together with the heels facing the floor will oust any that may be in there), hung up clothes, and folded towels. Those are their main hiding spots. Scorpions don’t seek out people to sting, so it’s usually cases of getting stepped on, sat on etc. Hope that’s the last you guys have to deal with them. I removed over 200 from a wash by my sister’s old house a few years back. She didn’t have any problems after that.
@imsooffended6860
@imsooffended6860 3 года назад
@@ReganOutdoors she’s fine thank you. Just some mild irritation and discomfort for about 8 hours. It’s more me that’s paranoid now. Coming from a Southern California beach community the most I had to worry about was getting stung by high taxes.
@dangerouswildlife3184
@dangerouswildlife3184 3 года назад
Oh no that sucks! It depends where you live for example our first house had none whatsoever in years but another house just a few streets down had them. You could seal your home so that they can't enter and spray cricket poison inside your house so they only hunt outdoors.
