Klaus Meine and Matthias Jabs interview in New York city. Wonder what kind of Rock You Like A Hurricane version was this here? check out this guy's private page:
@@natokangz maybe so, but english is the language that made his career so successful, and the band If they didnt speak English, they may have made it in Germany, probably been known in Austria and parts of Switzerland, but elsewhere, highly unlikely
I always need to laugh when speak say "Hey these guys from the scorpions cannot speak good english...." and then i notice that this person just speak 1 language, and he cannot even speak his single language correctly. I think many americans are really arrogant, they expect from others to speak like them or act like them. As far i understand everything klaus say i dont give a fu....
Mattias is a criminally underrated and overlooked guitar player. He deserves more credit than he gets. Listen closely to him on World Wide Live. All those fills and noodles (not to mention his solos) are amazing.
I was at the Oakland concert in 1985. I had just turned 22. Matthias gave me a look and I melted! That whole concert is on RU-vid and I must have watched it 300 times! LOL
Good music never goes out of style! I would never get tired of listening to all their hits! Long Live the Scorps! This is going to be a hell of a concert and with Megadeth, How can i not be there?
I´m really impressed on how these german artists speak english fluently and makes me wonder about their english learning process, there are lots of people that never ever got to speak a secondary language and here we have these guys writing lyrics in english becoming universal hits, it´s awesome certainly they are very intelligent guys aswell...hats off for all those non english speaker bands making happy to all the world through their english written songs.
I've always wanted to meet them in person and talk with each of them. I love them and their style of Rock. They are the only band that speaks to my soul and can make my body move the way I want music to touch me. I've seen them in concert twice. I live in Washington State.
At 32:13 , looks like Matthias has heard the story about Klaus losing his voice for a thousand times and now he hears it for the 1001 time. And he was like 'geez I feel like I'm listening to it over and over and over again'. Funny 😂😅
@@Terk131 Hmmm...I think he was talking about his 'instrument' and Matthias was swinging the mic like Klaus does those huge mic throws. Matthias is a good guy...no bs with him.
IN JANUARY I TURN 63, BUT IN 1977 (APRIL) I SET DOWN IN FRANKFURT GERMANY, AND ENDED UP IN A SOUTHERN AREA BELOW NUREMBURG, ON A ARMY BASE CALLED, "PINDER BARRACKS". FROM THERE TIL JANUARY OF 1980. I ONLY SET UP THIS TIME PERIOD TO SHARE HOW IN THE "DEUTCHLAND" I WAS INTRODUCED TO THE MANY BANDS THAT EUROPE HAD TO OFFER, INCLUDING MY FAVORITE ONE, SAID SCOPIONS. THE ULI ROTH ERA WAS WHAT I HAD, AND IT IS TO ME THE GREATEST ERA, NOT ONLY BECAUSE OF THE SOLID ROCKING STUDIO ALBUMS, BUT ALSO THE "TOKYO TAPES LIVE" DOUBLE ALBUM (YES WE WERE PURE VINYL STILL). MY FAVORITES BESIDE THE LIVE TOKYO, WERE THE ALBUMS I LISTENED TO, "FLY TO THE RAINBOW", "IN TRANCE", "VIRGIN KILLER", "TAKEN BY FORCE", "LOVE DRIVE" AND "ANIMAL MAGNETISM" WHICH ENDS ALBUMS I PURCHASED. INTERSTINGLY AS YOU WILL HEAR IN THIS VIDEO, IT WAS AT THE "WORLD SERIES OF ROCK" IN CLEVELAND OHIO (MY HOME) THAT THEY FIRST PLAYED IN AMERICA IN 1979. THEY PLAYED THE SAME YEAR IN THE FAMED SOLDIERSFELD IN NUREMBURG ALSO. IT IS PERFECTLY REASONABLE THAT THEY PLAYED TO THE CLEVELAND AUDIENCE BECAUSE NONE OTHER CITY HAS BEEN OPEN TO ROCK/BLUES/METAL, ESPECIALLY SOMEONE NEW, LIKE CLEVELAND. WE WERE THE FIRST TO BRING "RUSH" DOWN FROM CANADA WHEN THEY DEBUTED AS WELL. IF YOU LOOK ON YOU TUBE YOU WILL SEE A LIVE SET OF "SAILS OF CHARON" WITH THE BEST LINE-UP I KNEW. THE TRACK "SUN IN MY HAND" WAS GREAT AS WELL. BEING IN THE U.S ARMY DURING THE "COLD WAR HISTORY" THEIR ANTHEM "WINDS OF CHANGE" WAS CERTAINLY SOMETHING THAT MADE ME JOYFUL.
great interview....basically grew up with them and their albums..my favorite band. First saw them in 79 in Iowa, open for Nugent and Blackfoot. They came back two years later and headlined in 81 over Iron Maiden. Met the band in the hotel lobby..Great guys.
My favorite band ever. The first time I heard them was the Animal Magnetism album. They are a Worldwide treasure. Do what you do. Never change your sound. I saw them in 82, June 22. The reason I know this it was my birthday. Ted Nugent was the head liner the Scorpions and a little known band at the time Def Leppard opened for him. I'm sorry but Uncle Ted was anti climatic following the Scorpions. I'm from Phoenix , Az. Thank you Scorpions!!!! You are the best rock and roll band ever!!!!!!
if you just found scorpions you need to go back to the 70 and listen to everything from beginning to current.....just like me when i discover them in 88' i was kid and so i just knew that time but as i got older and starting opening my eyes i found everything from the 70, 80, 90, 2000....to this date i'm still finding new stuff on the internet from the 70's...
Great interview! Matthias seems like such a cool dude -super chill and all that. The Scorps will always be up there with the absolute elite of rock & metal music! Scorpions, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Helloween, King Diamond, Death, Europe, Blind Guardian, Queensryche, Accept, White Lion & Edguy
One of the greatest bands in the world have ever been! In 1992 they came to Kyiv, Ukraine, at first time. Since those days they have been always visiting us on a tour.
@@crusheverything4449 i think he thinks hes a rock star just by association and somehow hes special just cause he has the opportunity to talk with the artists!Lmao
Matthias brought the " hot looking guitarist " look , when he joined the band. I think that's what helped them also find success in the 80's. Without him not so much. Uli bought the outstanding guitar playing, but he didn't have the right " look".Matthias also bought his own playing style.
As a 90s kid, I didn't really know about these guys until talking with my parents about their favorite bands/artists growing up and as young adults. They were one of my mom's favorites. I just started randomly listening to them on Apple Music the other night and can totally see why! I've not listened to a lot, but so far they're great!
Was incredibly fortunate to see Scorpions in their one and only ever (and sold out) show in Melbourne Australia October 2016. It was incredible.Greatest band on earth. Come back men you are absolutely welcome.
yes..my favorite band.....awesome interview...keep doing what you enjoy until the day you can't stand on stage for long anymore that is what I say...keep on rocking baby...
It's awesome Klaus finally talked about "Eye II Eye", it's true, many fans think it's a shitty album, but not for me and I'm positive I'm not the only one who considers it a masterpiece.
Fav band ever. Period but sadly not mentioned that much by Rock & Roll nerds😅. They want their Queens,ACDC's, Nirvana's,Guns & Roses but very rare mention on Scorpion 🙏🙏🙏
When Klaus Passes [hopefully not anytime soon.] He will be remembered as one of the best. People forget about him. But if he passes get ready for everybody who dont give a shit now to act like they always gave a shit. Get ready for the lady gaga tributes and all that crap.
He will be watching the tributes from heaven and thinking "I am not a ballad singer! I had other songs than Wind of Change!" But yes sadly true. The same for Rudolf (and I hope that's not anytime soon for either of them)
@@crusheverything4449 Absolutely not! The album has it all: heavy rock, melodic rock, wonderful ballads and even pop tunes. It's different, but that doesn't mean it's bad.
@@roldirevan2130 - We’re in total agreement about Eye to Eye, so why did you say, “absolutely not”? Maybe English is a second language for you, I don’t know. I said it was “a departure” for Scorpions, which means it was different from their other albums. Then I said there were still some great songs on the record. I never said it was bad. Why are people so fucking stupid?
Look at most big selling bands, Three, maybe two, usually one anthem like smash hit that everyone knows even if they don't know the name of the band....These bands that go 50 years have lots of good songs to support their very few big hits.
"Where is your place"? just one of the greatest rock bands of all time and your still playing while all those crappy 90's bands are dead and just a side note Jabs your one of the most underrated guitarist ever
I am glad that I caught them in early September 2017 in Oakland, because the following concerts were canceled due to Klaus falling ill and losing his voice.
Wish they would have done a humanity tour in Salt Lake City. I love that album. I am not into any albums past that. I love their older albums up to humanity.
it looks like they're going to make a rock a compilation album for American and a all ballads compilation album for Europe and Asia, but isn't that sound exhausting.
Scorpions has some of the best songs in a tiny teenage life: Still Loving you, Always Somewhere, Passion Rules the game, No one like you!!!!!!!!!! Very very important songs in life!!!!!!!😇😊🙂😀❤🔥❤🔥💥💥💣💣🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌹🌺🌺🌺🌺War Lords!!!!!!! Hi Meine and Jabs are you in the band as well, you're great journalists !!!!!!
Hello honey I like that Vedio even you? But enjoy another video love you because someone said have a massing my favorite face And movie okie thank you vedio honey John David good morning safe Always
Agreed, but the point I was making was the Scorps did survive punk when they were in their hippie-type era with Roth and that was a greater achievement for them than surviving grunge, IMO.
@@michaelstephen819 I think I know what you're saying. Although, maybe the fact they were younger and kinda' free from producers opinions (which they weren't in the 90's) has a lot to do. In the 70's they were just doing what they wanted to do, they were free and young, in the 90's they were getting old and totally managed by producers... yet, "Eye II Eye" is my favorite album and I valorate it more by knowing it was such a hard time for the band.
@@jnyfumare - Michael is one of the greatest guitarists to ever pick up the instrument, but he was an alcoholic and drug addict for most of his career, sadly due to stage fright and he’s the one who sabotaged his career. Scorpions do not owe their success in the US.. to Michael Schenker. They made their name here through touring with Mathias Jabs as their lead guitarist. Michael is exaggerating his involvement greatly. Although he never toured the U.S. with them, Uli Roth did much more to help Scorpions build popularity in the states with the records he played on, which were all released here in their time, especially Tokyo Tapes, which sold over 300,000 copies in America, than Michael did with one album. Rudolf helped Michael out financially for many years and now Michael shows his gratitude by stabbing Rudolf in the back. Nice brother.
@@crusheverything4449 I saw Scorpions play their first tour in U.S. in 1979 and met Klaus and Rudolf in a club the night after seeing them play. They opened for Rainbow and blew Rainbow off the stage.
Just because Michael has been crying like a baby about it for six years now doesn’t mean it’s true. He played on the Lovedrive album, but he only lasted two weeks on the first leg of the Lovedrive tour in Europe. By the time they made it to America, they had Mathias on lead guitar. Michael loves to take all the credit for Scorpions’ success in America, but the fact is that they were going to break out here in ‘79 regardless of Michael’s involvement. When their contracts expired in ‘78, there was a bidding war among every major record label in the world for Scorpions. The plan was to finally come to the U.S. to tour after releasing their next album, which became Lovedrive. That plan was made before Michael got involved in the Lovedrive album. The fact is, Uli Jon Roth had more to do with building Scorpions’ popularity than Michael Schenker ever did. Although they never toured in the States with Uli, the records he made with them were released in the U.S. and sold successively more, culminating in the double-live Tokyo Tapes. Uli chose to leave after that Japan tour to follow his own vision for his music and, as Michael had just left UFO, he was asked to rejoin Scorpions, but it wasn’t destined to last because Michael also wanted to follow his own vision and left to form The Michael Schenker Group. Michael has grossly exaggerated his role in Scorpions’ success in America, to say the least. He had nothing to do with Scorpions’ biggest hits, like No One Like You, Rock You Like A Hurricane, Still Loving You and Wind of Change. Those were written by Rudolf Schenker, Klaus Meine and Herman Rarebell.
Thats the reason why thousands including me are going! Nothing i hate more than to go see a legendary band and not hear their Hits!!!!. Cant wait for this awesome show with megadeth, time to Rock and have a Blast!!
