@@iamnotpaulavery Hope you got it! 'Tokyo Tapes' 'Strangers In The Night' 'Live And Dangerous' 'Made In Japan' 'The Song Remains The Same' - Top Five '70s Live Albums ...
You prolly dont care but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an instagram account?? I stupidly lost the account password. I love any assistance you can give me.
Very classy of Matthias Jabs to let Uli Jon Roth take most of the really flashy lead riffs....honoring his legacy in the band. Something I always adored about The Scorpions as a guitarist, is how well their guitarists worked together and always put the music first. What a tremendous team!! And they are like family too, backing each other up and giving us all something special with guest appearances at each other's shows
You think he "let" him? Those are Uli's leads anyway. What would be the point of bringing Uli back as a special guest if Matthias is going to do the leads on Uli's songs as well as his own. More than that, if Matthias had tried to forcibly take "most of the really flashy" leads, Uli would've played circles around him. There's levels to guitar playing. Matthias is really good but Uli Jon Roth is otherworldly. As a side note: On the Lovedrive tour in '79 (once Matthias had re-taken over from Michael Schenker), they played almost the entire new album nightly, so as to remove as many of the Uli songs as possible from the setlist (not because they weren't good songs but because Jabs wasn't comfortable playing them).
I was always shocked that Speedy's Coming didn't get more radio air time. It was always a great example of just who the Scorpions are......A true Scorpions classic!
Fantastic performance. Massive "Tokyo Tapes" vibes! What an era. Such an amazing time to discover rock music. I'm glad to have grown up when bands like Deep Purple, Scorpions, UFO, Maiden etc. were at their top. 🤘🔥
The best Scorps Era!! With a truly unforgetable anthems like: In Trance, Speedys Coming, Drifting Sun, Sails of Charon, Yellow Raven and many more!! Scorpions 4ever!! 🦂🦂
I agree. Their time with Uli fitted the 70's perfect. He was one of the best lead guitarists that ever lived, however, when they changed their style from hard rock to political rock & ballads in the'80's, I agree that Jabs style fit them better than Roth's would with their three-minute hit songs. Don't know what happened to Francis on this wonderful flashback to The Oldies.
Uli Roth is superb . Fantastic guitar player. Everyone else is great, but Uli Roth is something else. Thanks to Germany for giving the world this amazing person.
I love how laid back Roth is. For all the sound coming out of that guitar, he looks like a blues guitarist sitting on a stool in a French Quarter bar playing in the corner.
@@ramuelcerbas2556 Too different. Both are amazing, but I can't even imagine Uli playing Comfortably Numb. And I can't imagine Gilmore playing Sails of Charon.
I was lucky to see them play this live in 1986 at the German Monsters of Rock - same line up except Michael also played on stage that night!! The whole Schenker family was there, including Barbara and his Mother!! It was 31 August - Rudy's birthday and mine too!!
Take note Journey, Styx, Van Halen.... THIS is what a band who truly LOVES their fans looks like!! Reuniting with former iconic members to surprise the fans, treating each other like family, having a great time on stage together, and celebrating the legendary musical legacy you built together 💖🤘
Uli is considered one of the most expressive and technically proficient guitarists even walked the earth. And that is a statement from someone called Jason Becker and someone called Yngwie Malmsteen. Nuff' said. I have seen the guy 3 times live and he is simply amazing. BTW Scorpions were one hell of a band.
As a teenage fan of the Scorpions '80s stuff in the '80s, I never gave their '70s music a listen. It seemed "old" to me. I'd even heard the name Uli Jon Roth spoken for decades. I recently decided to give the early stuff a listen. Boy, was I missing out. Uli Jon Roth is a beast. The songwriting was fantastic! What a treat to "discover" '70s Scorpions.
Virgin Killer was my first Scorpions album and my favorite. Uli did not disappoint. His playing truly stood out and blew my mind, especially with songs like Polar nights, Pictured life, in your Park, and though on their following album, Sails of Charon. They made their mark in the 70s, and can still make an old man weep with nostalgia when listening to it every once in a while.
hahaha, cuz Uli knows he can't....very few have the Uli soul and feel. would love to see Uli and Frank Marino on stage together...haha. A real G3 tour would be Roth, Trower and Marino...
It's hard to believe that there's a lead guitarist alive who could upstage Michael Schenker but Ulrich Roth does it and makes it look easy. Guy sure as hell didn't slow down with age, did he? Got to hand it to Mattias Jabs though, he hangs with them without much trouble. Only in a band with the guitar talent the Scorpions had over the years could a guitarist like Jabs be considered the under-appreciated "other guy."
In the 70's all we had was an album cover and a big mystery behind the players on the album like Ulrich Roth. The early albums, we had to buy from the import record section in the USA. Many great players from Europe at the time! Uli Jon Roth was a real mystery to us then, unlike today!
@@fredgarv79 I've not seen his birth certificate, he's always been Uli Jon Roth to me, growing up in the 70's, all the rock mags listed him as Uli and I never heard anyone call him that, but who knows, wouldn't be the 1st time I'm wrong lol
Blackout was my first intro to the Scorps. Then Animal mag back in very early 80's. Then I delved into the older stuff. I was completely blown away by Uli's playing. Really loved In trance. And the rest. Mathtias is great also and Michael. Amazing vocals.
If you think Uli Jon Roth is a great guitarist( which he is the best) you should meet the man, Uli is the coolest person I've ever met in my life of 60 years. He is every bit as cool as he is great on his guitar. I love you Uli .
My band Blind Illusion played twice with Uli. The first time was at Wolfgang's around 1986 a week after my daughter was born and then recently at Annie's social club. THE GREATEST GUITARIST OF ALL TIME!
What a band they were in the 70s! The best Scorpions era started with Michael on Lonesome Crow and finished with Michael again on Lovedrive with in the middle the great Uli's years... After that, some nice catchy stuff with a good Jabs doing his job, they say it was finally the real Scorpions sound, I don't think so, at all...
Uli Jon Roth is putting out a new Double CD of Scorpions Era, music. 19 songs with a fresh take, and a new life. Can't wait. It should be out some time in early 2015. Long live the Master of the Sky Guitar.
Started my career as a lifelong Scorpions fan with Blackout on vinyl and it’s been forward from there. Now have every album mostly in old school vinyl/cd format from Lonesome to Rick believer! Hope they never ever stop🤘🤘
@Nohelia Chagua Romero: He is one my favorites of all time, and as a guitarist who was especially influenced by Uli Roth, I'm glad to see some more appreciation for Klaus in these comments. @Herman Helmich: True, but what an awesome nose ! I'd rather hear Klaus's nose sing than 99.9% of the other rock singers out there.
Cordialement, Bruno
The most fantastic experience ever! Scorps great, eternal life! I love them with all my heart!!!!!!!! Never in my life so far has have not met such a band, and I think not I will never! I love them forever!!! Axe, thank you for the sharing, whit all my heart!!!!!!!!
I was at a Who concert at the Volkswagen factory in Hannover, circa 2007. Waiting for them to come out, I see Klaus, Rudy, and Uli come up together backstage and hang around. The Who comes out to do their show, and Pete Townshend says "Hey Uli!" - didn't even see the other two! Loved that. True...
We just saw them in concert and I so wanted them to play pictured life but they didn't play anything from tht time which is sad as it's so great! Morticia
