Confucius heard the music of shao and, for three months, he was oblivious to the taste of meat.
Shao: Shao means “beauty”. When applied to music, shao conveys a longing for melodic beauty.
Shao Music: The music of the legendary Emperor Shun.
Shao Mountain: A mountain in Hunan, home to Hunan music.
Shaoqin: An instrument of shao music.
Prayer
Quiet meditation, a path to the celestial sphere.
The bell sings, now and again, there and here.
The music of Dayu,
a prayer for blessing and security.
Message
The mortal world brings ups and downs,
unavoidable, a sense of loss.
The sound of music
is a message to the gods.
Music
Miracles of life,
illusionary realms of time and space.
Free and unbound,
not to be frittered away.
Love
Brilliance of kindness,
disposition of honesty,
power of beauty,
sublimation of love.
