#SCOSoundbites - Lingering Snow on the Broken Bridge

The broken bridge of West Lake is the lovers’ bridge of Jiangnan. While visitors hope for heavy snow to fully enjoy the gorgeous scenery of the frozen lake, the poignant love story of the broken bridge tugs at the heartstrings and invokes the human yearning for love. Lingering Snow on the Broken Bridge is a single movement concerto written for dizi solo and Chinese orchestra. It is based on the folk music of Jiang Zhe (Jiangsu and Zhejiang), infusing the evoked scenery with emotion and lyricism. Utilising the rich colours of the full orchestra and bringing out the charms of the solo flute, the piece celebrates the beauty of Jiangnan and exalts existence of true love in the world.
