Dave Kleer joined the Scotch Creek / Lee Creek Fire Department in 2019. He wasn’t sure if he should. Dave is an older guy but he wanted to give back to the community and help others. He just never thought that he would one day need help from wildfire himself.
Dave is an immediately likeable guy. His easy-going demeanour and relaxed way puts you at ease. He’s been everywhere, and done everything. His stories span our country and in all his travels he never found a place that felt more like home than his house above Scotch Creek.
It was a beautiful place, that much is certain. And a special place for Dave, his wife and his children. And while there is the chance for new and rebuilding, right now most of his property is in ashes. And Dave wonders if he has it in himself to rebuild.
