Thank you for watching Laura. :) We would've done a full stand alone video of the Britannia but Ben and David had been up literally the day before and released a really good one, so we didn't think we could add anything to their already excellent video, so we built it into the vlog. :)
“ Those days of painting a bridge” you say, as painting a bridge still has to be done by hand, those days are still with us. Yes, once it is done, you start again. As with all large bridges. Thx for this, very nice.
Hi Rich and Helen. been wondering what you've gotten up to the other night. Beautiful scenery and stays. I was going to say "Velcro" on Royal Yacht Britannia.
Hi Jeremy! Sorry we've been a bit late bringing this out - the days go by SO quickly! Working on part 3 right now. Velcro? Is that a secret Royal Yacht code word? :D
Loved it! You have THE best voice, I love the dry humour, and the subject matter is beautiful! The shopping centre that you access Britannia from is dying a slow and painful death through the virus and decimation of the high st - it was pretty awful before the virus so goodness knows what they'll do with it - apartments I suppose. Look forward to following the rest of your adventures, and, if I may say so, your Helen is a very lucky lady! (I'm a woman btw)
Well, Here Now, I don't know what to say! Thank you so much for your kind words and I hope you've subscribed. I'm not sure Helen would agree with being so lucky lol! :D
Hi Rich and Helen. Just came across your channel and must say it is very well done! Congrats. We are not into cruises but have enjoyed your nc500 vids. It’s given me some ideas for 2022, I hope. What camera gear do you use! That would be a good video to do. Gary, NE England.
Thank you so much Gary and we're glad you found us! We use a variety of gear to suite the shot we want to achieve but the main camera is a Sony A7Siii with GM lenses. Expensive, but worth every penny. :)
Thanks for suuch beautiful videos! Could you elaborate a bit how you managed with such a car in these remote areas ? Did you choose only accommodation where you could charge the vehicle ? Regards from Namibia
Thank you for watching Andreas. I hope you consider subscribing. :) Well, to get an electric car around this route, it needs a bit of careful planning. I'll explain more in part 3. :)
Haha! You're right on all counts David. Guilty as charged! One crippling thing that held us back - time and a really tight schedule. If this trip has taught us one thing, it's that if you want to do the NC500 properly, you need at least a fortnight! :D
So agree with you about the need to recreate the Britannia for filming The Crown, when it already existed. I am also hyper practical, what a waste of time and money. I guess whoever owns the ship now, denied the filming rights to the film company. I really detest the whole Royal family thing, one can see what they think of regular folk when you see the living quarters of the crew on that ship, compared to where they reside onboard.
It all seems so ridiculous, doesn't it? Especially when the ship is now owned by a charitable trust, you'd think they'd be grateful of the TV money. Ah well... :)
@@alistairewen9558 ah yes! I see! At the end of this episode, we say that it’s the beginning of the NC500, but the episodes so far have been our Scotland road trip in general. The NC500 episodes start now. 🙂
I was always told to never freeze whiskey as it dulls the flavour....Okay, of to Google land I go. Edit: Okay, Google Land seems to agree with me, but, if you prefer the taste after it's been in the fridge, then who am I (or Google land) to judge.
I would totally agree with you Dave. I normally drink whisky (whiskey) at room temp with no ice (that's the way I roll lol), but I'm sure Winter's Gold is supposed to be kept in the freezer. Odd, but true. :)
@@visitwithus No argument, i've been on a Japaneses whiskey kick of late, specifically Nikka Coffey which is so smooth, I prefer it a little on the cold side, but I have strange taste buds anyways :-)
