We are cheering you on from Michigan USA. We hope to do the trip in 2024. Traveling when you are fit and young is the best thing you can do. There is an actual tick remover gadget for your keychain. My husband came home with 5 ticks once as he is a birder. I only hope our relationship can stand van life together as well as yours does. Thanks for the information and inspiration.

Yes, we have a small portapotti but try to avoid using it as much as possible. There’s generally a lot of public toilets along the NC500, in each town or village, so if you park overnight not far from one you can drive to them first thing in a morning. Public toilets are usually searchable on Google maps 😄
