@@radziwill7193 No, they respect it. That's why it's a "United" Kingdom, made up of several separate countries. Scotland has its own parliament, legal system, and national soccer team (and the latter is the true mark of whether one is a country or not).
A young lad from Scotland had to go to school far away from home. There, he had a room with two other roommates. After a while, his parents asked him how is life at school and how the other boys are. He told them that in general all is good, but his mates were a little weird. One of them had many, many pillows and was always sleeping buried under them all. The other boy would scream in the middle of the night and then bang his head against the wall for hours and hours. And what do you do? How do you cope? Asked his parents. I don't really mind, he replied. I just ignore them and keep training in playing the bagpipes!
Love the photo. Love this rendition. Captures the Spirit of Scotland perfectly. Can’t wait to get back to Edinburgh and The Highlands. Magnificent Country and People. Should be a Trip on your Bucket List.
I am Turk. My grandfather was an officer during the Gallipoli campaign, under the command of Mustafa Kemal Bey (Ataturk.) He told me, the only enemy soldiers for which he and his men had any respect were the Scots and their ANZAC brothers. This song and "Flower Of Scotland" are two of my favorites, expressing the true spirits of all free peoples.
As an Aussie mate not going to lie we have some mad respect for you, you buggers held that land like true soldiers and it was an honor to fight against you no bad blood mate and I thank you for letting our slain remain in your fair land
@safsa awe That was the Picts not the Scots as the Scots from Ireland wouldn't arrive in Modern day Scotland till the 6th Century founding the Kingdom of Dalriada
En 1806 fueron derrotados al invadir el Virreynato del Rio de la Plata ante el Regimiento de Milicianos Gallegos, a quienes debieron entregar sus armas, banderas y gaitas. Saludos.
When the drums come in, I get chills. I am Irish but my last name is Scottish in origin. Something from way down deep inside connects with this beautiful melody.
I love how this instrument is my culture's traditional instrument and we call it pipri in garhwali language (I'm from himalayan belt) love from tibet border, Uttarakhand, India
Greetings to all scottish people from Iran or Persia, a country far away from you, in the heart of Middle East; I like celtic musical instruments, especially the scottish bagpipe and interesting to know that we Iranians also have our own bagpipe (we call "Ney Anban") with a different sound from the Scottish bagpipe. Anyway, I feel so proud to listen to this epic perfomance; even though I'm not scottish!!
The famous Black Watch Regiment wore their kelts into battle with the Germans in WWI, pipes skirling.. They called them the "ladies from hell," they both respected and feared them. That says it all I think.
I used to put on bagpipe music in the living room to get my kids out of bed. By the time they removed the record they were up and awake:) Years later my Ancestry DNA test came back as being 52 % Scot, no Irish like my mother told me
My Great grandfather was scottish and joined the Royal Irish rifles in 1908 ,, fought in ww1 in 1915 got wounded , loud and proud,, from northern Ireland Ulster Scots ☘️☘️😃👍☘️
My European History teacher in high school was Teddy Roosevelt's grand-daughter. She said of Scottish: "When you come upon someone with a knife in his sock, leave him alone!"
If any one sound can stir the very soul and awaken the warrior within, then it is this.Devils in skirts indeed!!!!for courage is found in a bagpipe, and an army will march anywhere when it calls.
@@josephpiper9552 learn your history...I m a Malaysian. Malaysia achieved independence in 1957. We are part of the Commonwealth. We have our own govt, a monarchy which consists of our own King and Queen and we have our own constitution. So go back to your text books and study History...unless your History is all wrong.
Lol We have commonwealth is the United States to but they still belong to the United States. The commonwealth of Scotland had the opportunity to separate from England but they voted not to , same with Ireland and parts of Cannon and so on they still are under British rule still to this day. You better read up.
My Grandmother was a West Highlands lass from the minute she was born to her last day and she always tried to get us to take interest in her country. Lost her this Sunday and it hurts to hear this song but it reminds me of her. Love my proud Scottish Granny to the moon and back 🏴✝️
I’m sorry you had to go though that lad losing someone will always be painful especially with things that remind you of lose but it is always important to remember that your family dead or alive will always be with you wether that be in person or in spirit and it is important to continue forward for them. From one lad to another stay strong
