This is a very good, and very knowledgeable, presentation of some of the better known attractions along the main tourist routes in our country. Excellent viewing for those of you who are considering your first visit to Scotland. I would recommend staying outside of the cities (maybe stay one or two nights in Glasgow or Edinburgh, on your way back to the airport) as there is so much to see and do in our countryside, and I think it’s much better to wake up to the sounds of birdsong and the sight of Lochs, mountains, and forests, than it is to wake up to noisy traffic and busy streets.

Just returned from Scotland. Liked Glasgow Much more than Edinburgh. Really liked the museums in Glasgow and the botanical gardens. Edinburgh was just way too touristy. Saw more Americans and Chinese than we did Scottish people. Couldn’t wait to get back to Glasgow. We took the nigh speed train from London.

If you come in the winter and drive to Inverness just keep an eye on the weather. If it snows it can come down really quickly, the main road can soon be impassable even though it a duel carriageway. My friends and I drove up to Dingwall from Dunfermline following our football team. The weather was poor, sleety rain. We arrived just as the game was called off due to a waterlogged pitch. We decided to get a meal in Inverness before driving back. We left the restaurant and snow had started. By the time we got to the Drumochter Pass, the highest point on the road I could barely make out where the road was because of the snow. We managed to get over but heard over the radio about 30 mins later the road had been closed. Anyway, it snowed the whole 153 mile drive back and was one of the worst drives I''ve ever done. So always better keeping an eye on the weather.

A couple of points. Maybe 20 or 30 years ago, retailers in England would refuse to accept Scottish bank notes. Nowadays, that’s not as prevalent, but be aware there are still one or two retailers who still think Scottish bank notes are not real money! Secondly, please say ‘lochs’, NOT lakes! Lakes are in England and Wales, not Scotland!

Nice talk, but appears you have written off NE Scotland as a tourist destination, which is a great shame.

We the SCOTS are treated like children by our english masters, you call it a parliament it is no such thing, it is a sham to kid on that the SCOTS have some power{I say some power, god forbid they allow us to rule ourselves} would you give all your rights of your house and money to your next door neighbour to rule your life. Our day is coming very very soon. SAOR ALBA GU BRATH
