@@codywatts7625 ok man, thanks for the lesson! I've only been around dirt racing for over 50 years! absolutely he made an amazing run here... I'm not saying that he isnt fast. but other drivers are a fraction of a second slower on this particular day. another day he might not be the fastest. to say he is the greatest ever is debatable. its a personal subjective opinion. Josh Richards, Brandon Sheppard, Jonathan Davenport, Jimmy Owens, Darrell Lanigan, Billy Moyer and many others could also be considered for the greatest ever.
I first met Scott back in the 90's at Paducah International Race way. I raced A.M.A Flat Track Motorcycle racing and ran the track on a Thursday night and the Hava - Tampa Late Model's ran the World 50 Friday and Saturday night and we stayed to watch them. I sat down in the pits at Bloomquist hauler and he's a wonderful guy. Since that weekend he's been my favorite Late Model Dirt Stock Car Driver and Scott Bloomquist is the greatest Late Model Stock Car Driver there's ever been without a doubt. I'm not saying this because of that weekend,I'm saying it because I've been to many of race's since and watched Bloomquist race and his resume doesn't lie. He's the GOAT of Late Model Dirt Racing!
I work on a modern Super Dirt Late Model. The wheelbase on the left side of the car shortens greatly as the car rolls to the right side. The 2 links on the left side rise considerably which "shortens" the bars which suck the axle forward. It can be a considerable amount depending on your set up. 3-4 inches.The below poster is correct in that the J Bar locates the rear end's right/left location and depending upon the angle of the J Bar, can help the chassis "Pole Vault" over the rear roll center. It also helps increase/decrease side bite. The 4 bar angles basically control forward bite and rear steer....
@@DimondYT69 The geometry of the links connecting to the rear axle on the left and right rear is setup so that as the car leans into the corner and the left rear shock and spring extend, it pulls the left rear forward and in effect steers the rear end. So, yes, but the suspension is doing it automatically as the car leans in the curve. The advantage of this is they can keep the rear wheels hooked up tight with maximum grip, and still make the car turn good.
@@stefanl5183 so basically they allow the axel to scoot forward a little bit and that angles the tires in a different way making a makeshift rear steer? I’m 14 I know a lot about the motors but the suspension is a hole different demon for me
When I saw him win the Scorcher at Bulls Gap he had the RY45. I don't remember the exact date, but I think it was around this time frame. Anyway, the RY45 is still very popular in DLM even today.
they have what is called a "j" bar setup meaning when they get in the gas the axle wraps inward and it rotates down to help the car go through the turns

It shows that I commented 9 years ago . I will doubtfully ever make it down there but what class do you run ? That track has to be a blast in anything , and the fans must get to see some good races .
"j " bar set up means the axle wraps up ? lol and rear steer , is the left rear is closer to the chassis ? lol where did all this happen. "j" bar is for side to side movement and rear steer is the length from left to right of the wheel base.. for instance on the gas the left rear moves forward tucking under the body shortening the wheel base and helping the car turn freely. and the "j" bar ( panhard bar) control chassis roll
I attended most super late events 2007-2019 and I don't recall anyone officially beating this one in that time. They all blend together at this point though lol. Scott is also still listed on their website as the official track record for what it's worth.
You sir are wrong, this is my local track and I witnessed this track record in person! If you ever have the chance to visit it yourself you will see they are really that fast on it!
I believe it wasn't there that night but I love the banking I either go there or 411 every Saturday cause I live the same driving distance between both just about I've really got it made
No disrespect to Richard Petty Dale Earnhardt Bill Elliott Tim Richmond no disrespect but Tony Stewart you too even though you race on dirt fairly regularly just keep your ass at the house any of the kings of the asphalt the NASCAR champions of nowadays definitely wouldn't even have a snowball chance in hell even a remotely snow balls chance in hell on a dirt track not even slightly a chance of beating this man on the dirt track
