Silver Stars are garbage awards. My Company Commander got a Silver Star for our 2007-2008 Tour of Duty in OIF. He never left his office at HQ. Though, I stick my neck out 8-12 hours everyday. Physically searching under bridges for IEDs, pulling vehicles over and doing pat downs, patrolling back and forth MSR. I was shot at nearly everyday, they tried to blow me up 3 times, and I got 2 head injuries in the same day (8 hours apart). We were not going to get any "additional" awards because the standard of going above and beyond was what was expected of Marines. Horseshit. That was what was going through my mind as I stood in their awards ceremony formation. I have lifetime lasting injuries because I pushed myself more than 100% and this guy that didn't risk anything, gets a Silver Star? It is worthless.

The tax cuts during a ramp up to two wars was worrisome. Yet tax revenue grew, it didn't shrink. Spending exploded, and continues to grow, faster than the economy. We have a spending problem, which DePace points out. Franken should have stuck to comedy writing.

Depace arguing on this show is so pointless. He's not a smart man but even if he was, it still would've been pointless to argue. The entire room was always against him, staff would feed Howard the least generous interpretations of things he said off air, and he wasn't as good at yelling as anyone else in the room. Nowadays Howard would probably just fire a Scoot Depace because even employing someone like him would hurt Howard's brand
I listened to both Rush and Airhead America. Air America could have been successful if they had some controversial hosts but all Al Franken used to do opposite Rush is mock Rush and play clips of him. Of course I miss the old Howard, but you can't expect a guy to be the same at 70 vs. 50 or 40.
The task of mocking Rush and debunking his lies and hate-filled abuse (which is a more accurate description) was a full time job, and the world is now better without him, like his unofficial successor Alex Jones, who, thankfully, the legal system has hurried the process of exposing and silencing while he can still live many years engulfed by the shame and embarrassment of his greed-inspired bullshit. The problem is holding people accountable? The actual problem, too often seen in both parties and steadily increasing over the last few decades, is the failure to hold their own accountable for fear of losing the seat. When they don’t hold their own members accountable the other party starts clamoring which creates the additional hostility and gets all the citizens riled up. Until they start valuing ethics and respect for the institution over each individual seat the problem will continue to grow. Loyalty is wonderful but the loyalty should be to the people, not each other.

A writer and former U.S. senator and he was one of the best. He also had a radio show but he got his start being hired by SNL. Prob right from Harvard. His books were huge in the early 2000s, because he exposed the FOX news liars and the hypocritical “dittoheads” of Rush Limbaugh fans.
