No, the transfer is not between young to old - it's from everybody else to the rich. Re: social security: cap should be removed. Capital gains benefits the rich, not the old.

On the topic of "messaging." EVERY single president from FDR to Obama did WEEKLY talks to the American people, before Trump ceased doing them. (Trump still held his rallies...) But Biden did not reinstate them -- and we sure NEEDED a leader during the darkest days of the pandemic. Had Biden been able to communicate, there is NO WAY that Trump could have mounted the challenge he did. No way. Thankfully, I am seeing those talks coming back, and am looking forward to Coach Walz's regular pep talks. One must simply keep selling the American people on the policies that are working for us. It makes the job SOOOO much easier for us grassroots campaigners.

Could we replace the phrase "middle class life" with "a comfortable life"? "Middle class" is hard to visualize, it can mean many things to many people, while "comfortable" is a very easy concept to understand.

When I was a young man, your parents said you had two choices, college or military service. Today, our young men are given the choice of college, or McDonald’s. Military service has extraordinary benefits to young people. Gets them out into the country and the world, gives them a wage, and they learn something for free, not to mention the pride of service to their country.

Thank you for posting this great podcast. I live in a small town of Trump supporters conversation isn't possible with any of them sadly. I have a small UAW sticker on my small yard shed I've been called every mega negative Trump's trolls are programmed to rant. One neighbor,a great single father, put a mega sign on the property line. The sign calls anyone that doesn't support Trump idiots. He's ask me many times what I think of the sign it's pointless to respond. I haven't pointed out his children rely completely on government healthcare which I completely support. Reagan was the beginning of the end of the middle class as a union/labor member it was shocking. I'm 72 years old retired disabled I'm thankful everyday for what unions accomplished for the working class of Americans.

If Bernie Sanders was a billionair, this is what he would sound like. (lol) Good interview that covered a lot of key economic and social points such as income inequality in America. The 3 wealthiest men in America own more wealth than the bottom 50% of the population. I don't know the wealth distribution numbers six months before the French Revolution but probably similar and we all know how that turned out. Are we heading (pun intended) for that? I hope not but the situation is socially unsustainable, in my opinion.

Hear hear on the social media recommendations and editorial decisions. Elevating content is a great phrase for that.He's absolutely right.

"Capital has been kicking the crap out of labor for the lasst 30 - 40 years" - my lifetime. I used to work for a financial printing company and I used to read the Notice & Proxy Statements of various companies, the compensation that the Board of Directors got just floored me. These peope would sit around a conference table and decide to do stock buy backs and pay themselves millions of dollars. Unbelievable.

I like Scott 's ideas on taxation, sounds like he has a few small items to iron out such as our professional athletes, I hope he continues to work on his theories.

The idea of a flat tax was floated by Steve Forbes (and later Andrew Yang) - a simplification of the tax code. The problem with the idea is that people suspected that it would be simple now, but the tax code would get more and more complicated. Much of his suggestions, if implemented, would probably have unpredictable unintended consequences. His point about rich people getting abortions is valid. In the 1970s I lived near a woman who sent her daughter to Europe, because they weren't available in our area.

Employment tax is some 15.8% counting employer and employee halves. I don't follow the much lower numbers batted around here.

Scott might consider himself a proud progressive, but I have heard him make statements about capitalism that disprove that. However, he is still saying things that must be said and that far outweighs my dislike of his economic views.

Typically I can't stomach listening to Trump for more than a few seconds but the sped up "chipmunk" version is golden. Saves having to FF through until he shuts up.

The problem with cannibalism. The quickest way to "create wealth" with "financial engineering" is to buy a company and extract value. Things like selling assets and paying out the proceeds to the owners then renting the assets that were sold, raiding the pension fund, and otherwise taking on debt to pay out as cash to the owners. The company is then sold or may well go bankrupt, but private equity takes the money and runs.

Scott: Why don't you run for president of the United States. Your country needs you.

We SHOULD verify those statistics.

I definitely DONT agree that young to old transfer of wealth. It’s from everyone else to the wealthy…. And the economy of today is NO WAY the economy of the 60s and 70s!!! Reagan was the beginning of middle class dismantling and shifting to the Rich. $50 TRILLION transfer to the wealthy…. This has laid waste to the succeeding generations starting out. And retirees… middle class… are NOT wealthy… if we own our homes… we are done in by property taxes…. Paying for the local schools and services that the young and younger do not. It’s complex and complicated. But I want something done to make home ownership feasible for everyone who is working and wants to own a home!!

This guy is what went wrong with the Democratic Party.

I would disagree with Scott Galloway that our problems are due to social networking. We have seen a steady rise in alienation of the people from the government as government has been bought by the billionaires and corporations and I believe it is due to the mass dissenmation of this understanding that is driving Americans crazy because it throws all of us into being scared and feeling unjustly treated with nothing to do because our government systems and media ( including social media ) do not work for us, and are clearly assisting the top 1% to exploit and degrade working Americans. Galloway is totally right about the difference between capital gains and working income - and that injustice has been going on for decades. When do we the people get paid back for that robbery? There is far more to the man-woman thing than just women maturing faster. Women are ( in general ) more compliant and easier to deal with, not as aggressive or likely to get violent - they are more vulnerable because they have to care for the kids often alone, so business prefers women these days - and it is scewing men over. Men teachers are more likely to spend more time mentoring women than other men - there is a whole universe of dishonesty if you scratch past the surface of this. Women are dating older because they cannot afford to live on less salary and make a bargain with the devil to be forced to in a sense prostitute themselves. Notice how they leave when they get self-sufficient so often. This is not a male thing, this is a rich, powerful exploitative alpha male thing in America and much of the rest of the world where women are chattel. It is true that the Conservative, people with control of the media, and ownership of social media are trying to brainwash society to create a society of Epsilons, read Brave New World, where they rule over a vast military and labor force and toy with the rest of us. To me, Elon Musk is as guilty of attempted insurrection as Donald Trump. America produces lousy citizens because then it requires government to take control and take away their freedom and wage power. 7:50 - By the way, Jonathan Hate is a very poor propagandist to use to try to prove facts! It is to the advantage of the dominant plutocratic class to dysfunctionalize the masses of the population that they must compete with. This is a class stuggle, not a boy-girl struggle, or an old-young struggle, it all fits perfectly in the model of class struggle, pure Marxist economic theory. That is why the fix - which is to look at it in a Marxist theoretical way is so bashed and degraded by even our Democratic party. The Democrats have a severe contradiction at the heart of their mission, which is why they have not done or said SSSS in decades.

so why does franken think that if your parents didn't go to college that makes you working-middle class ? how many non-college families earn lots of money with small businesses or special skills ? franken went to a private prep school before harvard .. so how was that paid for ? .. did he borrow money for harvard or did his family have the resources to provide .... ?

The “what about athletes “ thing doesn’t puncture your argument, they fall into the supporting functions of the economy after their high gain years. Obviously they will have paid into the economy large enough to justify a UBI or negative tax whatever you called it.

so does galloway's 'analysis' regarding young men apply to those in his 'marketing' classes that are paying $250,000 for an NYU education ? am sure they are showing up showered and motivated to excel .. as well as trying to score with the women .. so who exactly are behaving the way he describes ? perhaps it's those that weren't born on 3rd base with few options and no chances .. chances that he got despite a GPA of 2.27 ... low cost education and an expanding economy .. and a responsible & supportive mom ...

8:30 - in general I like Galloway and a lot of what he says, but then in certain passages and times he sounds like a fascist propagandist. For instance here SG talks about why he and Al Franken are so much better off then younger people - always aiming it at men to make them feel bad so they ignore that this generation gap civil war he is trying to incite is not the issue. You are not richer because you are older Scott, though in most everyone's life we are richer when we are older. You are richer because of the elements in your life that made you richer, or created the infrastructure and the guidelines on how to use it - you are a member of the elites, and of course Franken, the Harvard Grad certainly is. In the case of Franken he tells his parents and his family story to take on the airs of a regular guy when he is anything but. Just to be mean ;--) Al Franken could never have survived as a comedian in the media without some kind of poltical connections or help - because he is a terrible comedian. Probably why he went into politics. I am quirky enough to have remembered and laughed at the Franken and Davis Show, but odd that when Davis was not there, Franken became an order of magnitude less funny. He AL is a smart guy, but as a Jew I think it is weird that he is so anti-Israel, which indicates to me that he is a kind of remote back-stabber to his own people - for his own gain - in Minnesota politics because of the Muslim population of the Northern border states. AL seems to also be or have been or to have deluded himself into thinking that he was powerful enough that he could treat women poorly which created quite a reaction. A reaction which I defended him at the time, also because I cannot stand Kirsten Gillibrand. Now, I am not so sure, but I think it's better that he is out of government for the sake of it. Who knows about his replacement?
