They couldn’t cuz they too busy getting scoops and big fish in this interview. Like watching certain influencers do anything on camera just to get more views, or likes.
In the long run, his words can easily be twisted to scandalize the X-Men, spin a story of how without Charles to reign the team in, they are becoming increasingly unstable and unhinged, a danger to humans they see as “beneath them”.
'completely human' is exactly right and exposed the great irony of prejudice. X-Men is amazing for capturing actual pathos to it's political commentary. It's funny how hard so many shows tried to mold their stories around a message to the detriment of the show while X-Men had always had it baked into it and excels where so many failed and does so effortlessly.
And what a deliberately uncharitable way to phrase it. "Why lie?" Like there's not a dozen reasons someone might not want to talk about their child in a public interview.
He also wasn’t lying. He had that child with Madelyn. No one knew that at the time though. Granted he’s not in the right headspace here as he’s still trying to process things with Jean, but… how do you explain to the media that a mad scientist held your girl hostage, took her dna, made a clone out of it, sent that clone back with you so you can blow her back out and have a kid with her?
i'm more hung up on how she wants to show that mutants are like normal people, yet she's shocked that he would lie, which is something people do CONSTANTLY
Yeah it's prejudice , mutants have to "prove" that they are like other humans .. but only in the "good" ways , they aren't allowed to show human flaws like losing temper that would make them look bad , it's unfair ofc
This is FACTS. The fact that he has to do this corny interview just to prove he's a normal person is sickening plus this man has been through a lot in only a few weeks.
Facts, he just dosent get the time or rest to shift from fighter to hero (he is a hero but not one that'll make any big changes yet) but I believe he will in time
Scott had right though chick was being extra, and acting like a stereotypical reported. Also so what if Scott said that child is not his, yall live in fictional world, with different legit universes.
blah, blah, blah :media bad" blah, blah. blah Get a new tune, it is boring. The reason why "the media"... which is in accurate because media is plural, nit singular... is so bad, is because to continue to exist it has to gives the American people what they want, and the American people are spoiled brats who can;t hear things they don't like without freaking out. They can't handle much complexity. Anyone who complains about "the media" should take a look in the mirror, and grow the fuck up.
Blah, blah, blah "media bad" blah, blah. Get a new tune. The American media is in the condition it is because it responds to what people want. And Americans want to be reassured, then get angry because they are just getting reassured. The constant "media bad" refrains are boring, especially since it never comes with any self-reflection.
Frankly it's none of the normies damn business and they'd spin it that he's a deadbeat dad who abandoned his son cos humans are just the worst. The worst!
The man did bring up aliens and the only two mutants on the Avengers roster that are merely tolerated by the public are 2 of the 3 living offspring of one Magneto have dealt with aliens from time to time
The insensitive probing definitely exacerbated his anger, but if Scott said something like “our son contracted a disease we could’ve cured in time, but time was something he didn’t have.” He could’ve easily helped both endear more sympathy to Mutants and get her to stop with the questions.
True but he doesn't seem to be in the headspace to stomach saying that, he barely coped just saying he didn't have children and also with everything else that has happened he just doesn't care what people think anymore (somewhat rightly so)
Scott is right that the human race would have been doom if it wasn't for the X-Men. The first bad future was a world rule by Sentinel because Sentinel learned that humans were a danger to themselves.
Actually mutants are human. Mutants aren't a sub species of humanity. They are human. They are just humans who just started to unlock their potential that the celestials left them with. Mutant are also NOT the next the next step in evolution. That would be the eternals. If only humanity knew that fact.
And calls him a freaking liar too. Trish is the type of girl to have a black square in her insta but will give the cops a heads up if a couple "urban looking" youths are playing in her neighbourhood. Her gated neighbourhood
And not to mention losing Nathan is also tied up to his trauma of his father “abandoning” him for most of his life. Scott wanted to try avoid being like that for his son yet that chance was taken away from him by Mister Sinister planting that techno-organic virus onto young Nathan.
@manofmercy1500 but Scott's dad was abducted by the Sheira Empore and killed his wife. How could he not know if he was alive and also the years in Space changed him
@@goliathgar4985 Doesn't change the way he feels, especially as Christopher had the chance to come back and at least try to find his sons, but he felt his revenge against D'ken over his wife's death was more important.
I can't help but feel sorry for Scott. His experiences after ep.1 has become too complicated that it messed him up. He has the right to be mad about these commom issues.
This interview reminds me of the one in Picard, where Patrick Stewart blew up at the reporter when she questioned about Data's loyalty and why he left Star Fleet.
This is basically when asking Tyson about his dead daughter. He told the reporter it was done. And he should leave. She is lucky Scott just walked away instead of removing his glasses.
@@Brandonweifu Exactly, this is how we got Militant/Revolutionary Cyclops in the comics, who assembled X-force, I really want THAT Cyclops after this.
Fantastic Four is the only superhuman series that realistically has people react to superheroes: they'd eventually expect themselves to always be saved, be pissed the heroes are stealing the jobs of the police and firefighters, and complain that their heroics cost them taxpayer money through the wreckage of destroyed buildings, echoing their baron overlords with the actual money.
Everything he said is essentially how every X-men feels. It has to take an insane level of mental strength to fight to save the same people who would think the world is better without you. So much that they won't even say thank u when their live have been saved.
@@Brandonweifu in broad sense. The history of black people is more about exploitation, where as with mutants it's the fear of the unknown. They have more in common with Japanese people in the 40s, or middle eastern people now.
@@Brandonweifu Absolutely similar my man, what our ancestors have done for this country, hell they built and Rebuilt the White House, where was their thanks.
@@Demaad Idiot, that was the Phoenix force, who took him over because Tony Stark tried playing god and split thecdamn thing in 5. Also Xavier wasn't innocent and everything he ever did is coming back at him in the comics now.
Can’t blame the guy because holy hell humanity in marvel is so unbelievable ungrateful to the people who literally throw their lives away to save them and all they get is hate and discrimination
I said this in another comment, but it seems like the animated series is starting to go into the new X-Men era with the annihilation of the mutant island. And I can’t help but to see some reflections of that with the fact that it was revealed that Emma Frost was on the island and she was one of the only survivors well rogue is also a survivor as well. Also, the relationship between Scott and Jean seems to be getting quite heated after the events of him being married to her clone and having a baby what are. Also, in the car book, another reason why they release it was stream was because Jean was still riding off the highs of being the Phoenix, and it seems like she’s doing that in the cartoon as well. So considering his mental state, and the fact that the genocide on the main island has happened, and Emma will probably be one of the only survivors with her secondary mutation kicking in, she’ll probably right back to the school and cyclops, and her are going to start talking and start getting close and then we’re going to see the infamous behind the back affair that doesn’t end well. Also, considering the speed of the show and how fast are going, we may also see super radical cyclops as well from things like the Messiah story arc where he starts to go down a more magneto route. Also, we might see the introduction of Cassandra Nova Xavier’s maternal twin. (If you want to know more about that you’ll have to look it up. It’s too difficult for me to explain.🤣👍)
As much as I believe Scott could have worded that better, I can’t help but admit he is right. Jean/ Madelyn had some feelings to Nathan being human fearing for his life in their world. Sure wanting to know him outside of being a hero helps, doesn’t help when their are people who think breaking a mutant’s window and laughing when told they’d be charged for damaged would put humanity one notch higher on the food chain.
Scott didn't actually lie to the interviewer, he just didn't give full details. Him and Jean don't have kids, but he does have 1 with Madeline. So technically he was still being completely honest during this entire interview, and the way he lost it during the questioning is completely valid considering everything he's gone/going through and lost. He's not just being honest throughout the entire interview, but completely truthful in how much the X-Men have done for the world and how much they still have to prove to the world that they themselves are people would make anyone angry after suffering so much as Scott has especially lately in the last few episodes.
All he wanted to do was make a speech to the kids like captain America but instead became typical Scott when the questions weren’t about how to tie your shoe
so, 2 things here: 1) "i'm giving you a chance to show you're just like normal people, why are you lying?" kinda just answered your own question there, didn't you? 2) are we just not going to talk about Jean's "Marvel Girl" codename being acknowledged? that's rarer than an eclipse!
@@tuckerbowen4626 I was mainly just wondering what it was before that. Jean Grey is a good name but so is anonymity. But I also get why Marvel Girl didn’t stick considering there’s also captain marvel
1:16, On one hand, there’s Scott lambasting humanity for the shallowness of their media and on the other side is Homelander’s complaints over humans not giving him respect and instead treating him as a commodity. Both call out humanity for being ungrateful and ignorant to their struggles, even coming off as a threat to normal people to not test their patience. (Edit) The main difference between them is Scott has earned respect through genuine acts of heroism, while Homelander plays a role to be as famous as possible to compensate for his insecurities.
You really trying to compare the two? Scott says that because in spite of being part of a marginalized group, he still tries to help the people who hate them. Homelander is a fucking asshole and says people are ungrateful because he is an asshole. The extent of his victim hood is the corporation that backs him.
Homelander doesn't do shit is the thing, he bitches and moans about people being "ungrateful" but he doesn't fucking DO ANYTHING to earn gratitude. He just struts around in his silly little costume like some kind of faux-patriotic peacock and expects everyone to drop to their knees and kiss his boots simply for existing. Scott on the other hand has actually saved the world multiple times and hasn't gotten so much as a "thank you", hell often times people just end up hating mutants even MORE afterwards. But they still do it, because it's the right thing to do. "Protect a world that hates and fears them" it's their whole thing. The X-Men do so much for humanity and humanity gives them nothing but shit for it. Scott's allowed to finally call them out on it, especially while he's already got a lot going on and can't maintain the energy to keep his "customer service voice" on any longer.
@@ignisterzone5399That’s one of the biggest distinctions between the two. Cyclops has earned gratitude he may never receive, he and his team have been genuinely heroic, while Homelander just plays the role of a hero to get validation he believes he deserves for all he’s suffered as a child and has to put up with as an adult from humans. Both of them have suffered, but one became a better person in spite of it while the other was completely engulfed by this trauma and turned into a monster. Scott also legitimately about his species while Homelander only cares about his as far as they serve his ends or feed his ego.
I actually agree to Scott. The pauper people didn't even be grateful that the X-Men did anything to save people. But instead the chump FOH (Friends Of Humanity) keep on torturing them. It's clear this tiny head people didn't have any understandings at all. Pretty sad so much.
The guy had to send his newborn son to the future after he was infected with a techno-organic virus from Mr. Sinister, while also finding out that Jean was cloned. I don't blame him for losing his cool.
He's a mutant and his kind are constantly discriminated against despite all the times he's fought for humanity and equality. He's constantly losing those that are dear to him and that's the only response you have? You don't know half of it...
@louurich9087 The reporter was the one who kept pushing for the answer. (From Fargo) Jerry Lundergaard: "Ma'am, I answered your question! I-I answered the darn-- I'm cooperating here! And there's no, uh... We-We're doing all we can."
@@KurohigeDTeach-yy3yk Just because something makes sense does not make it right. You are correct, mutants are discriminated against in the Marvel universe, and should not have to be held to higher standard...but that is not how the world works. Marginalized groups are always unfairly held to a higher standards. On MLK Day, I saw racists trying to discredit him for cheating on his wife. That was THIS year. The truth is, this interview was done in good faith, and trying to shed a better light on mutants...Trish had no idea about losing Nathan. Yes, Scott's frustrations is 100% understandable, BUT someone who has been trying to be murdered for who they are since they were 16 should have known not to be interviewed when he let that emotional. Trish Tilby may have been trying to shine a positive light on mutants, but any bigots who saw a live broadcast now get an excuse. "No comment," is a powerful phrase.
Oh, HUMANS are the ones who are ungrateful? It is 100% guaranteed that, in the Marvel Universe, there exist thousands, if not millions of humans who fully support mutant rights. But what do they matter? The show won't even acknowledge that they exist. Mutants are the ones who are ungrateful for the countless sacrifices made by individual humans for the rights of mutants. What right does Scott Summers have to lecture humans on being ungrateful? This show is proof that allyship is a complete waste of time in the Marvel Universe, and in the real world as well. It doesn't matter how many sacrifices you make for any oppressed group. You will NEVER be seen as anything other than a burden to them.
@@BloodyBraces And the actions of those humans negate the positive actions of human allies? How do you think the countless mutant supporters feel after Scott told them they were ungrateful? I imagine they feel as if they wasted their time in activism.
@@HeathHuckers well if they were really supportive I think they would clearly understand that the frustration is towards the unsupportive mutants and not them
He’s right though. Humans are evil. Ungrateful. Terrible. The humans should be thankful that the mutants aren’t as evil as them cause as shown multiple times, in an all out war between humans and mutants, humans don’t stand a chance
I don't agree with Cyclops, but the reporter, claiming to want to understand his humanity, should've known that for almost any father's humanity, losing a child is anguish. It hurts! And there may be a reason he doesn't want to discuss it. Putting someone on some glorified pedestal to exoticize what you THINK their humanity and respecting what it means for them to try existing as humans are not the same thing.
@@colingibson1998 it’s not a few. Every human acts like that. Humans can barely tolerate each other so imagine being a mutant or alien. All humans are evil
@@colingibson1998 yes they are evil. Do you even know how many wars they caused on each other? Saying humans are good is like saying dog shit taste good
Because they are ungrateful and he is better than humans. Most of the series has shown that if mutants and humans go to war, humans don’t stand a chance. Can’t rely of sentinels since sentinels in the future also killed humans
Humans are the ones rallying around carrying signs of their misguided right to exist and for the time m es their lives have been saved, they live to persecute more of the marginalized in their world. But yeah, the guy who said no lies is the problem.
@@DavetonitheoneI mean mutants having enslaved humanity yet or caused genocide though in those cases not for lack of trying since unlike humanity they had other mutants around to stop them
