The birth date and location in the bio are not fully accurate. Joplin was born outside of Texarkana, Texas, near Linden, and the date could have been anywhere from mid-1867 to mid-1868, before the November 24 date that his last wife, Lottie Stokes, evidently gave out. If November 24 is accurate, and there has been no indication that it was, it would have been 1867. Based on some found data it may have been in October 1867. Also, guest of honor was 1903, not 1908, and written in Saint Louis, MO, performed throughout the Midwest for a few months that year. School of Ragtime was not a textbook, but four pages of sheet music with a few exercises and instructions. There were actually more complete books out there with richer content, but this one focused on his style of composing. Other than those details, and not acknowledging the original source/pianist, I do appreciate that this is reaching a wider audience.
