Literally like once a week I check to see if there are any updates. The only thing so far is Ubisoft responding to Bryan with a 🤔 emoji after he was talking about hoping the game is rereleased
When I first saw this game, I recognized Paul Robertson's art style and immediately had to get it. It did feel a bit rough and unbalanced, but the music and art are top notch.
I know that Scott Pilgrim probably has loads of Nintendo references but what are the chances someone who watches or reads Scott pilgrim doesn’t also own an Xbox 360 or PS3?
@@KidAL0 "clone" and "glorified" are being generous, he was seriously not even done. his taunt was two frames and part of me feels like his dead "ghost" sprite might have literally been stephen's but don't quote me on that I could be misremembering
No, seriously, the soundtrack is SO good. Genuinely one of my favorite soundtracks to any game, and I’ve never even been able to play it. Really tragic.
Now I really want a Scott Pilgrim vs The World: The Game: The Remaster to be done. Hopefully someone takes the lead in Kickstarter to remake this game or something else because everything about it makes me want to play it (licensing the game again would be as dope though) Also gotta tell you Urick the editing of this videos are godlike, I got blown away when I saw the YIIK essay, and so did this one, so many info to read on screen. Really hoping you can keep on these videos for more time!
As someone who got into Scott pilgrim shortly after the game got taken down it sucks that getting the chance to play this (and legally at that) is such a task. Loved the video!
Play the rpcs3 version. It runs well enough with tiny hiccups here and there but there are no real framedrops in my experience with an i7-6700k (emulator is very cpu heavy and generally my cpu can't handle other games)
This game has features that look like bugs, and bugs that look like features, one time the first level failed to load its backgrounds and started playing alternate music, and I swear I can't tell if it was an easter egg or not.
@@eleberethe8120 Well ya know, Invisible Punchman is good at two things, punching people while invisible, and making the best damn flapjacks in Ontario.
Don't sweat the Wallace DLC, he's literally a reskin of Stephen Stills with a rainbow filter applied to his punch effects. I love that game, but Wallace feels like an intern project; you can tell he wasn't made by any of the pixel artists who worked on the base game. :P
Was looking for this comment. I love the game and got the DLC at launch, but replaying it on the remaster made me notice how unfinished and unoriginal he is. Doesn't help that they were lazy with his ending (referencing a textless ending doesn't make it any less lazy).
@@efrideet8563 oh I remember the pain all to well of unlocking nega Scott. Coulda been harder since this game was a drunken party game for me and my mates and played it alot through are teen years
I think the movie actually did a pretty good job. Edgar Wright's directing style mixed really really well with the storyline and the aesthetic. I do think it only appeals to a certain demographic (the demographic being teens), which is why it sold so poorly.
All 6 volumes weren't out at the time the movie was being produced, so they had to write an original ending for the movie, that's why it's so different.
I think the movie should've had 2 parts, because everything after the vegan felt incredibly rushed and lightly brushes over a lot stuff from the comic.
I've actually seen this game cropping up in a lot of social media outlets recently. I know it probably won't happen, but some part of me thinks a re-release might happen at some point.
Interesting thing about Ubisoft Montreal's TMNT tie-in: if you look at the GBA version, it's a side-scrolling beat em up that looks suspiciously/interestingly similar to Scott Pilgrim. Oh hey, you mentioned that at 11:38. Neat!
I need a detailed review of the comic. Scott Pilgrim as a whole is a fun idea but the story and characters just are not as good as I'd like them to be. So many people praise it like no tomorrow and that's fine. But there aren't enough people really looking at it in detail for what it truly is and that's a shame to me.
Overall the art and character design is awesome, but the personalities, story, and character development are a little lacking. I enjoyed the comic, but it wasnt flawless.
@@tkberzerker3605 I can agree with that. Like again for the time, it was something truly special. But looking at it now, it's just a good idea that wasn't fleshed out very much and not done very well. I love the style and the game itself is fantastic to me. But the writing for both the movie and comic are what really kill me when it comes to this ip.
Da'kari Brown Oh thank goodness I’m not the only one who disliked the comic! I trudged through the first volume and my god the writing is awful and it caused me to drop the comic all together. For a comic that’s about a guy wanting to kick the 7 Evil Exes asses to get with a girl with a magical backpack, there’s waaaay too much slice-of-life for my liking. When it comes to the art style, I personally think it’s pretty meh but not too bad. That’s why I got help from someone on one of the Discords to help me emulate Scott Pilgrim, and the game is better than the comic imo (I just need to find a way for the controls to be more comfortable for me before I start playing again on PC).
This is ONE game that mastered the trio. Lemme explain: Comic is fantastic. Movie is fantastic. Game is fantastic. That legit never happens. Every Scott Pilgrim thing is somehow REALLY good, all in their own unique ways.
I remember playing the demo of this game in my cousin's ps3 and i fell in love with it, but everytime i searched about it, on where could i buy it, i never saw it anywhere... I loved your review tho...i really wanted to get it
It makes me sad that this ended up this way, the music is a masterpiece and as a fan of both the movie and the comics I wish I could've afforded this when it came out while I was a kid
i played this game with my friend when we were in junior high, and i absolutely loved it, it's still one of my favorites, even if i don't have the means to play it again
nblog.org/ps3-iso/scott-pilgrim-vs-the-world-the-game-usadlc-ps3-pkg/ Don't know if you have a ps3 you can jailbreak or not lol, but if you have a pc it also works on RPCS3, if you have issues with it there's an alt link that may solve any issues you have. :)
@@cringedealer84 yeah dude, that's fucking awsome! scott pilgrim is not only my favourite movie of all time but also my favourite graphic novel series of all time (mostly because i literally haven't read any other graphic novel) I even bought that fucking card game that came out a few years ago and i literally have no idea how to play it. sooo exited about it being rereleased since i've been wanting to play it for so long!
I was hoping you'd mention how a number of people have complained that, even though they'd already paid for the game, they're no longer able to download it. So, if you bought a new console or needed to make space on your hard drive, the game was lost forever. It was a hot topic for a very short time that people who had purchased the game had effectively been robbed by the company that sold it to them, since Ubisoft effectively took it back. Maybe that warrants a discussion that's beyond the scope of the video, though.
Drake Vegas!! Ah really? I saw a few people mention that they were able redownload the game in an obtuse way if they purchased the game before it got delisted. But yeah, that’s probably a discussion that goes beyond just Scott Pilgrim and this video
Can only speak for PS3. If you purchased the game and unlock key before it was delisted, your PS account has a list of ALL of your purchases and downloads in your account. I had to scroll back through time to find my original downloaded purchase, then redownloaded it again to my PS3. Just did it last night. It's is terribly inelegant, but it *does* work.
Why do you need to do that? People already know about this and if they didn't, they can just look it up, you don't need to tell people that you can re-download your old games if they downloaded them before.
Hey, I know you probably won’t see this but the fact that you are able to make highly edited content while still finding the time to animate and make nice little characters and still somehow upload once a month is very impressive and your videos look very good. What I wanna say your videos are worth watching and very entertaining, keep it up.
I cry. That's exactly what my cousin and I did. I just finished reading the books then the movie dropped and then I heard about the game and bought it. We played ALL summer learned all the secrets and min maxed our characters. It was so rainy that summer. It was the first family I've met and we still have it on our old xbox.
I absolutely love Scott Pilgrim I grew up with the movie, playing the game, and in my teens reading the comics and I’m happy to see that Scott Pilgrim the game is back
“Without the money exploit, playing solo may lead you to grinding a bit of money to survive the later levels” I feel that this is a key point of a beat em up, kinda gives it an originality aspect yk?
i'd love to have the game saved onto a usb drive so when my ps3 dies i can still have the game. this was the first game i bought on the ps store when i was 13 years old and it's the reason why i love everything scott pilgrim
I love this game with a passion, the art-style and the music... (One of the best videogame soundtracks i ever heard of) And also that by the fact that it introduced me to Scott Pilgrim in general. (then by the movie and last with the graphic novels.) I hope Bryan gets the goal to make the game have a re-release for PC! By the way, i'm in lesbians with this video. :P (Your drawings of the characters are amazing! It asimilates to O'Malley's style!)
So I don’t know if it’s still possible but a few years back I was telling my buddy about this game and we were wishing we could play it. Somehow we found a virtual code for the game on Best Buy’s website and it actually works!! I recommend looking for it if you wanna play the game.
Finally, the game i've been with throughout my entire childhood is finally being noticed, hopefully it gets re-released P.S. I've watched the movie and read the comics which honestly are different ._.
This is my favorite beat 'em up of all time despite some of its shortcomings. For a 5-month effort and only 50% of its vision accomplished, I'd say it deserves another chance with even more development time! P.S.: Nice job with the cute imagery! I never read the comics but this video convinced me to give them a try!
I gotta compliment your editing, everything is framed so nicely and easy to follow. when you think about it, it should be the bare minimum for videos, but almost no one does it this way. Good job on that man (also your drawings are a nice touch)
This is honestly really well made. On an unrelated note, I think the movie actually did a pretty good job. Edgar Wright's directing style mixed really really well with the storyline and the aesthetic. I do think it only appeals to a certain demographic tho, which is why it sold so poorly.
Nah, the trailer and the commercials were horrible, and did little to show just how crazy and fun the movie was. The advertising/marketing did a horrible disservice to the film.
I'm really regretting deleting the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games off my PS4. I could have swore that there were supposed to be some sort of customer protection laws in place that would allow people to re-download games that companies no longer actively sell
Got this from Limited Run for switch and it'd been the first time I'd touched this game since its short release on the 360 years ago. Just as fun as I remembered it to be.
This game was my childhood. I remember sitting in front of my Xbox booting this game up after school with my brother and just going ham on it. The soundtrack to this day gives me flash backs and I can still clearly see every level and every moment from the game. I didn’t know it was so quickly made and now I appreciate it even more. Thank you for an amazing video :)
FINALLY, SOMEONE ELSE WHO FEELS THAT WAY ABOUT MICHAEL CERA'S PORTRAYAL!!!! So I know this is about the video game and I watched the whole vid (and agree with you), but at the time, I felt that Anton Yelchin would have portrayed Scott Pilgrim MUCH BETTER than Michael Cera. Michael Cera did....ok, but his portrayal just seemed 'meh' to me. If one just watches Charlie Bartlett though, they can see how Anton Yelchin would have made for a much better portrayal of Scott Pilgrim. ....shame he had to die so soon. OK RANT OVER. XD
If the game does ever get a re-release or remaster in the future, as Bryan Lee O’Malley has stated he would have wanted, perhaps the game could end up more polished and be once again publicly available.
Honestly if you did a video on the comic I'd watch it. Used to read it when I was 15ish and it impacted my life a bit haha So I have a sort of fondness for that comic despite it's flaws Also a remaster/rermake would be awesome considering the amount of content missing and the lack of the game's current existence.
FUCK YES IT'S BACK, THE COMPLETE EDITION IS COMING OUT THIS YEAR, IT'S SO CLOSE, IT'S ALL I EVER WANTED, I'M IN A TOTAL SCOTT PILGRIM CRAZE AFTER READING THE COMIC HOOOO BOY I can't wait.
It's actually such a shame that the game could've been even more amazing if they hadn't rushed the dev team so much. They basically wanted to just pump out some shovelware and got exceptionally lucky that they landed on a team that gave a shit.
The comics were the best version hands down, they were super fucking good. The game was definitely a second best, but I still feel like the comics were better, but really only due to the medium that it was first shown to me in. The movie? The movie was super good, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't hit right for me Now that the game is coming back, and stronger than ever, I can't wait! I'm going to get it as soon as i can, just so I can make sure it doesn't dissapear on me again.
I gotta disagree with the boss's criticism I understand what you're saying but Luke didn't even fight Scott so ofc he wouldn't much of a progression. Same with other characters. I like how it's closer to the comics.
Fury here I came here to announce that, as of 4 of March 2023 The game is now on Steam It was released not too long ago on January so we can be glad that this little jewell got preserved after all this years
Interestingly Brian Lee O'maley has shown his disappointment and wanting for the game to come back and Ubisoft actually responded by sending with a Thinking Emoji
Let's hope the complete edition tweaked the game to it's fullest and turned it into a COMPLETE game and not a rushed one. Crossing my fingers and my toes
It's on the nintendo switch. It was on sale costing 4 euros so I bought it, remembering when I played this game with my cousins on ps3. It's amazing, sad that it's so short
Damn that sucks i didnt know it got delisted. I actually played through this game right around when it came out before i saw the film. I thought the film was actually based off the game lol
