Scott had a more varied childhood than mine. Back then, all i knew was Mario or Sonic because that's all my mom got me. The only reason i branched out to other games as a kid was due to Super Smash Bros Melee introducing me to other games, and that was only because Mario was on the cover.

I can’t explain how happy with nostalgia I got when he talked about the DS and Wii. So many childhood memories flashed into my brain all at once and, I hate to say it, but it was magical to relive all of it in that way. 100%ing New Super Mario Bros several times given it was the first game I ever played, playing Mario Kart DS multiplayer with family friends that were my age near the pool during our annual trip to Lake Geneva, 100%ing New Super Mario Bros Wii with my Grandpa when my grandparents lived with my parents for a couple years after the recession, mastering every stage in Mario Kart Wii with the Wii Wheel except for Bowser’s Castle because I was scared of the mecha Bowser, playing Big Brain on DS with my sister, Raving Rabbids TV Party just being such a funny game to experience especially in multiplayer with friends, loving Wii Sports Resort when I played it with my neighbor but sadly never owning it, and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games being so much better than it had any right to be along with it’s soundtrack just being flat out sublime and imo, the most underrated soundtrack in video game history. I had a smile on my face for almost a full hour straight reliving all of this. Thank you Scott. ❤

I always thought I missed out on so many great games in my childhood compared to what my friends had, but after seeing the games Scott grew up with, I feel like Tyler from My Retro Life in comparison. That Scott grew up with so many crappy games and yet still loves video games so much means he's a gamer at heart.

It's actually amazing how close our video game paths are, especially the way we started! I started by my friend giving me his sega and I played 6pk so much (with sonic). But I did have a 64 before I got my gamecube and gameboy advance. I had all the spongebob games you mentioned on pc and gamecube. Then I got a ps2 and Flying Dutchman was my first game for ps2 lol. Your introduction to the Nintendo DS reminds me of mine. It was a free day at school near the end of the year, and several kids were playing Mario Kart DS. I had only played the original and 64, so when they let me join I was in awe at the jump in quality. I was also amazed at 3d graphics on the go. I begged for a while for one, eventually got one and loved it.

Scott. Thank you for this video reminiscing over your childhood and video games, and mentioning when your mom would join you playing in some of them. Despite being a few year's younger than you,but not by much i pretty much followed your path after 2005. It Reminded me of all these moments i had, especially the looney toons part (watching the shorts with my mom before bedtime wws a huge part of my childhood) and playing these games when i wqs a child. Begging my mom to get me a game, playing it like crazy, etc etc. My Ds and wii are my childhood and my mom was the one who made that happen. The reason why i keep mentioning my mom and the memories of my childhood with her is because she passed last month from stage 4 cancer, not discovered until 2 months before she passed and a severe noticeable drop in her health that put her into palliative care. It blindsided us. Although i wish i had seen a video like this before she passed so we could have discussed my childhood gaming and stuff like that, just being able to remember these moments is still good.
