@@davidklein5007 I disagree. I hear that so often that it sounds like an automatic response, rather like one quickly answering, "Glenn Gould" when asked to name the best player of Bach's keyboard works. I believe that Scott Ross takes the top spot not only because of his remarkable talent, but also because he plays these Baroque pieces in a very straightforward manner which lets the composer shine through. I don't remember Scott ever using a damper, and I have listened to his complete rendering of Scarlatti's sonatas several times, as well as his recordings of Couperin, Rameau, Frescaboldi, et al.

@François Petit. I totally agree. The reason why his work is not better known is probably because he was a modest guy and not a self-promoter. I'd bet that he never had a Publicity Agent. Also, he had a job as a Professor of Music in Quebec, which left little time for doing international tours.

@Guillaume Sarrazin Formidable interprétation de Jupiter, en effet. Sans faire injure au regretté Scott Ross, existe aussi une assez récente interprétation à 2 instruments de forqueray par Jean Rondeau et Thomas Dunford. Aurait-elle plu à SR, si sévère musicalement parlant ? Probablement, quand on écoute ses "Leçons particulières de musique no 2" ; il ne pardonnait pas gd chose aux pianistes, mais en admettait bcp à ceux qui connaissent le clavecin .
