I played this to my young students one lesson. They were knocked sideways and said they'd never heard anything like it before. The looks on their faces! They also couldn't believe I was actually there when this was first released.! Unreal piece of music.💟
BEAUTIFUL . I am going to miss the mystery ,the mastery and the complexity of this musical genius . Walker for me epitomises everything an artist should be. What a journey it was and luckily his music lives on Thank you so much . RIP Scott
Absolutely agree. I want Scott Walker singing this at the pearly gates for me. Right up there with Lisa... ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JGmvXGBBfjs.html
I don’t have the slightest clue what this song is about lol but it’s still beautiful nonetheless and despite not knowing I somehow still feel like know anyways lol
This one became way more harder to listen to since today but it is humanity highest high manifesto confirming the infinity of the soul, raised in absolute.
"God"? How ridiculous. Give the man the credit due. The garden - his art - is beautiful enough without needing to believe there are fairies at the bottom of it.
Scott 4 is one of the greatest and most under appreciated albums of the 1960's. It was criminal that they deleted it in 1970.... It would have been a crime had it been lost.
in my understanding, beauty only exists if there is an interlocutor to put it in evidence, and as long as I am the interlocutor, this music will mean beauty, just like any Scott Walker work. it has been just over a year since his death, and I cannot accept the fact that he is not immortal as a person, however, it comforts me to know that Scott is immortal as an artist, as a personality and as an inspiration. RIP
Well, I just discovered this amazing artist through a doc on Netflix, and... wow. The voice. The expression. The creative mind. And his choice of art over commercial success... But mostly the beauty. Thanks for posting these; I am a better person for them. :-)
tears across the universe to this rendition, this ballad of deep thought . We know you're out there Scott but thank you for all your beautiful music which never is surpassed by your contemporaries. God bless and hope to meet you on the other side , where my thoughts to you will pass amongst the stardust of all your musical creations .
@odoanna1 I agree with you. Sleepwalkers Woman is outstanding and is Boychild 15 years on. I love the Climate of Hunter LP. The Drift is brilliant as well. Scott you are one of the greats.
Scott Walker came to England to make his fortune...I find that very interesting...that some of the very best of musical talent come to the UK to do their thing when they are trying to make a name for themselves...
the play a child finds in a world of pretend........ being what he or she sees....... reliving and being the ones they see...... thinking that is what life is ........ the play of adults living and children seeing how we live.... and pretending to be us......in play......
I don't usually like his romantic style, but it works here in this song accompanied with some good music, especially that beautiful exotic sound - what instrument is that? ... Similar to a dulcimer?
Nobody wàs so sinçere as he was. Añd alwàys so deep às a siñger his àlbums 1 2 3 4 as a true soulmàn shows àll love to yóú ànd family,? Çlàss orçhestras wheñ úsed x
@mrswozzle A lot of artists would say you're a pratt for this comment. Respect for the musical greats. You have no idea who this man has influenced musically.
Please forgive me but I must say that rarely for me can most secular music come close to the Divine . This one hits the spot and surpasses many religious works. This evokes the wonder I felt as a boy child glimsing the manger scene. At 54 yrs I feel it still.
Frente a la figura y obra de Scott Walker, gran parte de las frivolidades de la vida pierden sentido. Te recuerda quién realmente eres. Te cuestiona en qué momento ocurrió tu extravío, y qué lo provocó. Me pone en mi sitio.
I really love Scott Walker, but I just can't get into Tilt or The Drift. Everything else, excluding those awful early to mid 70's albums I absolutely love.
I suppose you're right, thanks for your comment , bought The Drift , wow. The world is sometimes a pretty evil place, this cd captures that essence, pretty much the antithesis of boy child in my mind, not one i'll be listening to again . One for the charity shop, why keep depression t yerself. (joking)
Are you sure you are not confusing Scott Walker the singer with the atheist politician also named Scott Walker? I'm Interested to know where you got the information from that Scott Engel Walker is an atheist!
He is clearly a thinker rather than blind follower but coming from the U.S. he may very well have been exposed to the religion contagion as a child, from which the escape is then very, very hard.
Don't attribute to him something that he doesn't claim. He's said that he writes often in character anyway. I was raised a Protestant too but I'm an atheist also. Beauty isn't the sole domain of the religious...
Sorry I never confused him with the other guy , I just assumed he was of the athiest ilk by his sentiments. His new music fills peoples minds with depression and pictures of evil deeds. Similar to the new genre most popular. Forgive me if I thought he colluded , if unintentially it would seem he prefers to enhance that type of artistic flow to the media.
