Honestly sounded better than I expected, still better than 99.99999% of all humans, ever lol. What a song. Big loss. The art lives on forever though. RIP SCOTT
So much pain = so much beauty. It’s unfortunate that tortured souls can create beauty for us to enjoy. To anybody reading this and is going through a rough time just remember. Life’s f’n cruel, stop surviving and just live. You dont have to make anybody happy but yourself. Never be ashamed to ask for help.
@@WinstonSmith24 Thank you. Seeking help and talking about one’s feelings shouldn’t be considered a weakness for a man, it should be considered a strength. Hopefully you can pass this fact on to your loved ones or anyone who needs to hear this. Take care.
@@salcamarena1819 I agree with you totally. I hope you’re doing well. I got the chance to see STP a couple times, once in about 1996 and once again in 2008…both incredible shows. I love this song. Take care of yourself and I appreciate you sharing that good bit of wisdom.
@@haley-ss7nn me personally I prefer Scott’s voice and concert performance over Layne’s, love his twang and his stage presence; but Layne is really great in self titled nonetheless!
@@thefinalresistance5312 Layne was great obviously, but Scot had the ability to elevate any song of any genre so for my money, Scott was the best vocalist of my generation.
Just what I thought as I watched. It seems he has had that look on his eyes since forever and has been accentuated in time. Real pity to have lost him too.
Scott is often a messy disappointment unfortunately, especially during this later year. However Layne killed that performance and was on point even while strung out.
@@KBizzyWeiland and Staley are my favorites. No one touches Layne’s range period but Scott musically was a chameleon thus his catalog was much more broad. Layne was a statue on stage but his voice commanded your attention. Scott’s stage presence was second to none when he was at his best. They’re both great in their own way and I can jump back and forth to each depending on the mood. Layne is different in that his downfall was more private so we didn’t see him at his worst. Scott unfortunately became the rock cliche in front of our eyes. Both are tragic. Sorry for the novel response lol. Like you, it’s just my opinion. Both deserve more recognition than they get. Both have bands that belong in the HOF.
Same. Obviously not in his prime by a mile here, but there’s just something haunting about it. It’s right up there with the STP Unplugged version for me. I love Scott Weiland, just want to give him a hug here and tell him thanks. His life and art impacted millions.
He still sounded so amazing after all he put himself thru..... There’s so few of them left. I’m thankful for what he gave us while he was struggling. Scott and his grungy friends were the voices of my formative years and they will always hold a special place in my heart. Addiction sucks. Be well everyone
I was saying to my son just day before yesterday that every day for about 1 or 2 weeks straight I would get in my car and turn to my favourite station ,Lithium, and I was hearing this song within 5 minutes!!!! Now here I am again. So if Scott Weiland has been about celebrating his up and coming birthday,,,,, 🎶Happy birthday to you Scott!🎶 Another sad story of someone taken way to young. He will have been 56 this coming October 27th. Such a loss. He was so talented from beginning to the tragic end. He changed his vocal sounds from the classic deep "yarl" to a higher more gritty sound with Velvet Revolver and then a deep smooth "Bowie-ish tone. I loved each and everyone of his styles. Rest Easy Scott. You will never be forgotten.
This version has what none of the others did....The Whole Weight of his life backing these vocals. They pulled this version for a bit. Thanks for reposting!!
@@WinstonSmith24 I see someone going through the motions and in extreme pain. His inner circle failed him. I'm blown away by people who enjoy this version. He was already dead and only he knew this fact.
@@shadowslayer19cg91 no it fucking didnt. Touring and performing hundreds of days of years for years and years did. Also drinking and meds for his bipolar disorder messed him up. Also he had a small stroke i think. Its sad . But im so sick of everyone saying oh heroin ruined him. He was not ruined at all..
Scott sung very good here. The only difference is he's not able to go as deep, he went from baritone to tenor. I think he killed this performance and it goes to show even subtances never tore his talent away.
Yaya HJ I definitely miss hearing him sing 😢 I would get so excited when he’d release new music, more than I would for any other artist. It’s so sad I’ll never feel that again.
@@jimmylad7358 a talented musician who was taken to early but knowing his at peace makes it a little easier. My mom got me into STP when she played the whole core album one summer day while she cleaned the house and been a fan since
Sounds great. Scott looks like he's in pain and struggling. Regardless, he's one of the greatest voices that came out of the 90's. . R.I.P. Scott Weiland.
I have to say this version is really good and the tempo is partly to thank for that. The STP boys would often lay this one way too far back imo. R.I.P Scott, his vocals were on point here.
It was indeed. I followed his career very closely from the moment I heard ‘Plush’ in 1993 right up until his tragic passing. He was always my favourite frontman and he released so much amazing music during his lifetime and for that I am very grateful.
Scott used to call home at the loft on 3rd & Alameda to hum melodies in the answering machine while he was working as a paste up artist for the LA daily news. I was at the loft, I heard it.
I think the pain in his face is because he knows it’s off key and it’s not good. He was a true melodic genius. He knows, and he was so desperately trying to recapture that feeling in his soul he used to have, but it was gone and never to return. It’s heartbreaking. By the time you’re in you mid 40’s it’s hard enough for most men. Time really catches up to you. For Scott that was too many years of poison in his veins. Still the greatest of all time in my opinion. With the the 3 best and most underrated musicians of all time behind him. The wonderful thing is his legacy and art he left behind will live forever.
still miss him and still miss them grunge rock delores lead singer of the cranberries chris cornell chester benninngton scott weiland mike starr layne staley kurt cobain and the lead singer of mud honey
How the fuck did I miss this. I saw STP live in Durham NH with a buddy of mine and we were the only black guys there. We stood right up front and Scott did everything. We were smoking cigarettes and he literally breathed in our smoke while dancing that dance of his. He was right up in our faces and it was so fuckin cool. I wish he knew how much none of that shit mattered and that he just thought he was super cool because he was an amazing writer and singer. But I write better on drugs too.
By now, I reckon he'd had the life sucked out of him, Wether it be ex women or bands. Plus being on heavy prescription meds 😪. Rest easy Scottie, there will never be another you.
The producers or Scott were so unsure of his vocal ability they had him singing with Autotune and that's what hurts most of about watching this version. You can tell he was trying to turn his health around he doesn't have that sucked in cheak look he had during the Velvet Revolver days.
I love STP but i can't do Scott's live performances. He is an entire octave above what he did on the albums. Grunge keeps me engaged with the deep sorrowful vocals. I wonder why he switched to such a higher pitch in vocals. Maybe it's just me, but I find the deeper notes easier on my voice. Layne Staley had the same issue. All love and respect though, they are legends
Kinda funny...I'd prefer watching SW performing STP songs rather than present-day STP perform their songs with their fake front-man. SW gotta be one of the best R&R frontmen of all time.
