@@TheWideWorldofStadiums I second that suggestion, would be good to get yer top 10 The other idea I had was ‘ Wides Stadium Tour ‘ in 1 year where would you go and who would you see playing there ‘
In de third Dutch football league (Tweede Divisie) are there also 2 stadiums next to each other. The stadium of Spakenburg en Ijsselmeervogels are a few steps from each other. Also they are red against blue, like in Dundee.
Dens park main stand isn't "bent" because of greyhound racing. Stand was designed by the great Archibald leitch and was opened in 1921......before greyhound racing. It's bent to mirror the road outside the ground. The stand had a capacity of 11,592......about the same as the whole ground today. Stand 3400, reserved 1184, directors 120, press 48, enclosure 6840....total 11,592. Stand opened v Ayr 17/9/1921 with an attendance of 20,000. Many famous grounds designed by leitch.....including Hampden, Windsor park, Twickenham, Goodison, Ibrox, parkhead, white heart lane Stamford bridge, st James, rocker, the dell, molineux and craven cottage.
You have taught me so much about the communal spaces of different parts of the world.. thank you so much. I feel more connected. I'd watch your videos on the fourth division of Japanese synchronized sumo. Because it would be fascinating.
If you want to see 2 "very big stadiums stuck side-by-side", check-out the stadiums of Independiente and Racing Club of Avellaneda, both Clubs located just South of Buenos Aires, not far from La Boca neighborhood, the C.A.I (Club Atletico Independiente) play at the Liberadores Stadium (48,000) and Racing play at the Cilindro de Avellaneda a.k.a Presidente Peron (61,000) with a record attendance of 120,000 against Scottish Giants Celtic, both grounds need a little bit of a "makeover" particularly "el cilindro", but they don't need to be "moved" to another location, to another barrio, to another dimension, to a bigger stadium, but with smaller dimensions.
OK Wales stadium wise has unusual ones. 1. Chester Stadium. Most of it is in Wales whilst a part if it is in Engand 2. Principality Stadium/Cardiff Arms Park. OK years ago the Principality Stadium was called Cardiff Arms Park. But these days it is Cardiff Blues ground that has the name. OK you are thinking they are 2 stadiums right. Well yes they are. But one of the stands at Cardiff Arms Park is actually built into one of the Principality Stadiums stands. The 2 tiered goal end stand. They use the same entrances and everything.
I asked for this video when you had just released your Scottish Premiership stadiums video. Now...we're in the 3rd tier rather than the 2nd tier. I guess our fantastic stadium called East End Park might never feature on the channel. I do believe it's the biggest stadium outside of the Premiership though, so at least we have that!!
If queen's Park move back into hampden again then it won't be but even then dens Park might push you for it but congrats on winning l1 from a falkirk fan
Re Cove Rangers - the Google imagery shot is from the seasons before the Championship = if you see the 'snow clearing' shot @ 2:12 -2:16 you will notice the seats with temporary looking roof - both areas behind the goals now have these - added for Championship season (may be short lived)
Like many Scottish football fans I've been to all of these. Ayr and Arbroath in particular are great places to watch games. A few wee points: There's a nursery in one of the stands at Hamilton Accies. During the week they use part of the concourse alongside the pitch as a playground. I like to think of their kids as the future Academicals. Moray Firth is pronounced Murray Firth. All of Scotland is Caledonia, not just the north. There's a woman's football team called Edinburgh Caledonia. It's from the name the Romans gave to (at least one of) the indigenous tribes. In Scottish place names -ch- is almost always pronounced hard, in the Germanic way. And it's a hard o. So it's closer to Oakilview. The Ochils are the very prominent hill range you see from the Falkirk, Stirling area.
Some interesting attempts at pronouncing the names of the grounds !! The Cove Rangers comment about the Queen, she actually passed away at Balmoral Castle which is an estate 70mins west of where Cove Rangers are based and they originate from an area just south of Aberdeen called Cove Bay. Would love to have heard you try pronounce the town where Raith Rovers play lol
@andrew johnston, they actually have terraces opposite the main stand. They just haven't used them in a very long time, even has a toilet block in it, that the ends don't have.
Starks park is unusual in that a train goes past really close to the stand opposite the funny shaped main stand. They can’t modernise the railway stand as a result.
Firhill Stadium as our humble narrator states has that bolshy choodesny Colin Weir stand but behind the one end has that ooshazzny flatblock behind the stand that looks like its from A Clockwork Orange. I think I liked Stark's Park and Coppielow the best.
@@viewfield5 thumbs up it can be hard to judge from a few pics I admit. I can tell it needs some major refurbishment. I like the the stadiums that have stands nice and close to the pitch to create a nice atmosphere. I liked seeing the dock cranes in the background too but I think if we are being honest all the grounds in this league need some work.
@@neilwhitaker6284 It was yes, Hibs is older than Celtic and the man who founded Celtic was inspired by Hibs to create his team. He was going to call it Glasgow Hibernian, but decided on Celtic since Celtic could refer to both Ireland and Scotland uniting the people. Dundee United also used to be called Dundee Hibernian and was founded under similar circumstances but no longer has the Irish connection like the other two.
@@toogyman shouldn't they put a roof over the field as well, if there's a storm or whatever then the game will get canceled because there's nothing protecting the field
@@JaxStateFan83 It's *extremely* expensive to cover an entire pitch, as well as the stands alongside. Besides, it's an outdoor sport. Weather is part of it.
MLS: Let's be like traditional clubs and call all new clubs United, City or FC. Morton, Accedemical, Queens Park, Caledonian, Thistle & Rovers say hi. Please do American 🏉 Rugby fields. They do exhist.
Think you need to brush up on your pronunciation of Scottish names 😂 good humour though, excellent video. My only complaint is that you stated Arbroaths ground was built on a former tip. It was in fact my team, Inverness, who built the ground on a former land fill. But seeing as both sides have their ground close to the sea its an understandable mistake.
I have to hand it to you, it couldn’t have been easy getting so many things wrong in such a short video and as for the “jokes” , don’t give up the day job.
Wide How about mixing up yer drinks in the next compilation and a list of venues The old firm and the old farm games Swap the venues over but don’t tell the fans . The fans in Norwich would be okay with that , Glasgow not too sure !!! The Calcutta Cup game in Calcutta MLB at the MCG and use the full field , 575 feet to homer in centre field !!! The Georgia Bulldogs versus the Green Bay Packers ( in their regular season mode , not their play off mode as that would be unfair on them ) played at Grambling The Sydney Rabbitohs versus the Sydney Roosters at Madison Square Garden . Seconds out Round 1 🤜 🤛 The state of origin games in the UK NSW at home in wales at the arms park and Queensland at home at the cabbage patch
I’m Scottish unless I’m living in a different reality I’ve never seen stenhousemuir in the championship league in more than 20-30 seasons maybe more 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Arbroath - LOL Ayr - if only you knew 😂 Cove - diddy Dundee - Scum Morton - idk nice crane 🤣 Accies - Doon Caley - Great toon to get pished in, shite club Partick - best team in Glasgow ftof Queens Park - wee team in Glasgow but respect the auld team Raith Rovers - great songs, teams weak
