I’m soooo glad we’re getting into the Scottish monarchy. I’ve been wanted to know about their rulers and ceremonies

I'm imagining, 500 years from now, Lindsay's successor, will be talking about the drama of Harry & Meghan, Charles & Camilla (& Diana) and all the consequential things that have happened to shape the face of today's royal family. I wonder what the narrative will be then and what egregious things we're doing that seem normal to *US,* but make us seem like some unsophisticated, backwater, Level 2 civilization to them... but all commentated by someone with a _VERY_ Lindsay adjacent voice! haha

Hi Lindsay, I really like your channel and I have a video suggestion. You should do a video on the extremely wealthy families of America during the Guilded Age like the Vanderbilts, Roosevelts, Astors, Morgans, and Du Ponts. Although not exactly noble or royal, they were considered the “American royalty” of their time.

Hi Lindsey, thank you for this, its important to say that the loud chants whilst audible were from a relatively small amount of people, it is sad they were allowed so close to the cathedral. I've said this before: Your videos on the British Monarchy are really well researched and perfectly presented with lots of hard to acquire picture references. Thank you very much. I was particularly pleased to note that you referred to Camilla by her CORRECT title of Queen Consort. Despite Charles INSISTING that she is Queen in her own right, in fact, he is technically wrong. His wish to force his wife on everybody is another reason why he is far less popular than was his mother, Queen Elizabeth II ever was.

I've always wondered about Scottish coronations and if they still existed. This was very educational for me. Hopefully one day soon Scotland can gain its independence again as a democracy as they are way beyond the ideals of royalty.

King Alexander III kind of caused the whole succession crisis, by not securing his line enough and being a widower for about 10 years when all three of his children were dead. Another thing to mention, is that the SNP considered an independant Scotland with the British monarch as its head of state.

The crown of Scotland was made by John Mosman, who is the ancestral great grandfather of my friend who lives in Perth, we are also related in our ancestry back to Robert the Bruce and the stewart kings as they are are ancestral grandfathers, we are also related to another mutual friend and we similar lines back to the Scottish kings , I have had an amazing time doing my Scottish ancestry I never believed I was connected to so many important historical personages, I am also descended from henry tudor , and Llewellyn the Great who was king of north wales and was related to robert the Bruce ❤

The only time that the rod was used for legislation for the Act of Union was no other time. He tried to get a coronation, and Cromwell stopped it. There was no coronation; Queen Elizabeth I had Queen of Scott's arrested for treason, not an explosion. He did have a coronation in Westminster Abbey, but Charles the IInd was not thrown off the throne. He just had nothing to do with being Catholic. His wife was Catholic. I think you need to redo you're story. She did not have to take his advice. She did not have to take the advice. They can't have a new vote; they know they can't be independent and not have enough money. I am sorry your history is way off the mark. Some never happened. A monarch can't be thrown off the throne. They can turn religion back to Catholicism, but they take the oath to keep the faith C of E. We want a republic with Cromwell. He ruled that he died. A republic is where you vote your head of state. All he did, like in other wars, was take power and kill those who got in his way. Most of Parliament was killed. At the end of the day, Cromwell committed high treason, which is why his body was exhumed and his head cut off. No one knows where his head is it became the murder of King Charles Ist as monarch's can't commit treason.

The only comment I would have against this video is that Prince William and Catherine should have been called the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay. This is the senior title of the heir apparent and their partner while in Scotland. 🇨🇦 ❤

One small detail. The Wars of the Three Kingdoms did not start after the execution of Charles I. The Bishops War (1639-40), the First and Second English Civil Wars and The Irish Confederate Wars (between 1641 and 1653) all are included in The Wars of the Three Kingdoms. Charles was executed in 1649, making this an event in the Wars.

The students wwho removed it from Westminster Abbey did not steal it as you can't steal something that rightfully belongs to you. The Darien Scheme, which was a private enterprise and had nothing to do with the Scottish Government, may have bankrupted the aristocracy who invested in it, but it did not bankrupt the country. At the union, Scotland, which had no national debt, helped to pay off England's national debt in exchange for access to English trade routes, something it could not have done had it been bankrupt. The real reason for the union is totally different. Queen Anne had no successor and the English Parliament had voted to offere the throne to the Hanovers, yet again ignoring Scotland. The Scottish Government voted to offer the Scottish throne to a prince of thier choosing which would have meant the end of the Union of the Crowns. This prmted the English to push for union,. Queen Anne had a hand in this, personally choosing pro union delegates to the talks,. The Lords who had lost money in the Darien Scheme were bribed into voting for union. "Bought and sold for English gold, such a parcel of rogues in a nation" as the Bard put it. The crown of James VI incorporated the previous crown, The bottom part is not a replica of the old crown, it is the old crown with the gold strenghtened. Queen Mary should really be referred to as Mary I as that is her regnal number, also, the late Queen is not called Elizabeth II in Scotland because she was the first Queen of that name in Scotland, and indeed, in the UK.

Love your channel and was just thinking about the video you did on Nefertiti. Have you done a video on Cleopatra? If not, I think it would be a great idea! Cleopatra also had children and there lives aren't commonly known about.

Speaking as a Scotsman, I am relieved that our Crown Jewels escaped Cromwell's purges. I'm not a royalist but I absolutely despise Puritans so it's a great victory for us that Cromwell didn't get his filthy mitts on them.

King Charles is not the of scots or the king of scotland he was not coronated in Scotland he only show acknowledgement to the Scottish crown . The people of scotland are sovereign he is the head of the protestant Church of England he is NOT the head of the protestant Church of scotland . No such thing as the union of the crown this is a myth . The scottish crown is entirely separate from the english crown

More investments like Dumfries House, and remember that Scotland is the land of Adam Smith and James Watt. I think they need to focus of producing more than just whiskey. I'd build fishing boats for the North Sea and try to get them running on hydrogen. Obviously which ever is the latest technology, Scotland will have access to it, but there has to be a lot of tidal power to exploit for producing some green fishing boats.
