Today, eight weeks into the job as Labour leader, Anas Sarwar set out his party's manifesto for the Holyrood elections.
We spoke to him about the pandemic response in Scotland, and why his manifesto emphasises that over independence.

This guy makes a big deal about the covid deaths in Scottish care homes, saying it’s the highest in Europe, then when he’s proven wrong, says it’s not about quibbling over a few percent! Then he says he spoke out about discharging covid patients into care homes, yet there not one piece of proof backing that up. Sit down fella, you’re embarrassing yourself.

He also bare faced lied about bed blocking. Which all parties called for the clearance of beds in hospitals for covid patients. The absolute contempt he holds for Scots that he thinks we're so stupid we can't remember last year. No wonder Labour are dead in Scotland.

yeah it's easy to come across well until you're actually in the leader's seat is it, I agree I thought he was one of Labour's acceptable politicians but now he's leader he's just exposed himself as another Willie Rennie. Nothing to say at all.

The boss in Scotland? Ha! After he's just been given an example of what appears to be him having to toe the line on nuclear weapons. He may be the Scottish branch manager but it would appear he's effectively powerless to make any decisions. Isn't it time that Labour in Scotland formed a proper autonomous Scottish Labour Party and took a serious look at their stance on independence?

Scotland would be better off as a independent country just like the Republic of Ireland has been. No point hanging on to a dying decayed entity that is UK. It's a broken country.

Another poor showing from Labour. I was for many years aLabour supporter and have great respect for their past achievements but they are a shambles now. I cannot run the risk of another 10 years of Tory rule and so will vote for Independence.

@@fraac that would still mean a boarder in Britain if scotland joins and England doesnt, 60% of scot exports go to Britain that won't be able to continue if one is in and another is out there will be a boarder.

Yes but if England is left alone and surrounded by Single Market countries, you can be fairly sure they will sit back at the table for the Single Market.

@@fraac not at all. Longest and strictest lockdown in the UK. Zero concern for jobs, businesses, mental health. Only eased restrictions because borris did it first and the election. Never thought i would say this but honestly i would take borris over sturgeon. She is a pure liability

There will be no checks on the border between NI and Scotland. If the English want to isolate themselves from everyone, they are free to do so, but we all know this is not going to happen. People will soon realize that Brexit has damaged the UK and the damage is permanent.
