I have eaten ONE lump of Vanillas Fudge ONCE. It was in 1952. It was a lovely day, the birds were singing and had to go in and get ready for bed. Dreams were wonderful that night. Complete codswollop of course. Only really really cruel Parents feed ONE Vanilla Fudge to a twelve year old. :-). I LOVE vanilla fudge, hopefully I do NOT have all the ingredients I am large enough already and have a low self control. :-)
Thank you so much for this recipe. My Mum is a Scot & I can only find it locally in one shop here in Australia. I had a bit of a giggle when you said you can store it for a few weeks in an air tight container. When I buy in for Mum, it doesn't last two nights as she has it for supper at night then POOF! It's gone. LOL. Now I'll try to make it here at home for her. I also have subscribed to your channel. 😊
Oh my gosh, I absolutely love Scottish tablet. The first time I ate it was a couple of years ago when I received my "wee box" from Scotland and in it was a box of Mrs. Tilly's Scottish tablet. I devoured it. I'd never had anything quite like it. The texture was so different and the taste was addicting. I even went online and bought a box along with a several box's of Scottish breakfast tea...They always had treats in the "wee box" kind of a taste of Scotland here and there.....I just love watching your channel and I think I watched your very first video. You are always so kind. Thank you for sharing with us. And thanks for the tablet recipe. I will definitely be trying to make it. Wish me luck. LOL

Oh my god, I LOVE tablet, I always get it when I visit my family in Scotland, but sadly can never get it down here in the South of England, definitely going to give this a go. :)
@@sailorapril Tablet is a fudge-like sweet, native to Scotland. It's a bit harder than fudge, & a bit less 'chewy', more kind of 'dry'-ish!! It's really hard to describe, you have to be there really! 🤣 Suffice to say, it's basically caramel flavoured sugar, & will do you harm in sufficient quantity! Mind you, a little will really make your day! 😁 You can buy it online, or better still, look for one of the many recipes online & make it yourself!
Well my granddaughter and I followed this recipe to the letter yesterday as I wanted to let her taste my favourite sweet from my Scottish childhood! It turned out like toffee ... and actually, was so cloying it was inedible! Certainly couldn’t be cut into squares! Will try again!
The first time I ate tablet I was in heaven. It was in a gift shop in Inveraray. I returned there every year and when they saw me in the Highstreet with my Scottish mum as I called her they called me in and gave me a taster. Of course I went back to Amsterdam with at least 4 packets of their home made tablet. 🤤
I made this about 2 weeks ago (I did it wrong. I used condensed milk nstead of evaporated milk but with a little bit of water it worked out ) and I must say it was absolutely delicious! I'm currently making some the right way now.
This looks divine! You mentioned castor sugar, do you think it would work with golden sugar, or do you thinkthat would change the recipe too much? Thank you for this loveliness, my kids(6) are already pushing me to get it started! Lol!
Hi Cheryl , good morning , what a nice and easy sweet to make , I hope you and your family are all well and safe , Jackie is still in hospital and will be for a while , take care and stay safe 👍👍👍
My Armenian grandma used to make this and I always assumed it was an Armenian recipe but I guess not! Haha!!😺 I wonder where she picked it up? Wishing you and your dear ones good health🍷🌟💗
Tried this - failure, but a rather happy accident! Turns out I must've had the heat on too high so I got this absolutely amazing TOFFEE instead! Your voice says 20 mins but the script says 15 mins. Looking now for a good temp!
I was so happy to find your channel. (i did subscribe:-)) I have just made some tablet... it didn't work it was runny and a wee bit curdled! What did I do wrong? I have made tablet in the past and always used Condensed milk, this was my first time with evaporated milk. Was evaporated the right one? it seemed all wrong! HELP!!
@TheRenaissanceman65 similar ingredients corn syrup, sugar, butter heat to temperature then add peanuts, let cool. Similar without the peanuts. I’ll have try it.
@TheRenaissanceman65 Yes, she did. I heard that. It's just that on camera, it looked thick and yellow, which, to me, looked more like sweetened condensed. That's why I asked. I'm not criticizing Cheryl, she's a sweet woman, and I appreciate her work. Thanks for clarifying.
Is that just plain evaporated milk or sweetened condensed? I asked because I've come across several channels based in UK and Scotland that will say condensed or evaporated but when I read the can they're pouring from it's sweetened condensed milk. Here in USA it's one or the other neither are interchangeable
Tablet isn’t the same thing as fudge though...tablet is a much harder consistency than fudge...fudge is softer and more pliable. They are boiled to different temperatures.
