Dont like the english? How about this. I was researching my ancestry and visited Ireland and met the people there and learned why I am so good looking. Then I went to Scotland and met the people there and learned why Im so charming. Then I visited England and met the people there and learned why my ancestors left!

LOL that's funny. Probably why my Papa came up from Birmingham to marry ma wee Granny tae. On a serious note, I have been to many places in England, visited Devonshire, Lancaster, Manchester, Scarbourough to name only a few. Beautiful places, and friendly people. The only place in my whole travels to England that I absolutely detest as a Scot, is London. I kid you not, even my English pals say the same. Any Londoners on here? Look up for a change instead of in yer phones, make eye contact, have respect for others at the train station, on paths/pavements and let people pass. We once let an elderly gentleman through on a narrow path where workman were digging up the roads. We had stood to the side to let him through, and 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 people "Londoners" just barged on through. This guy could be a veteran, maybe fought for the country. So that kind of peeved me off to say the least. It did not feel in the slightest bit, welcoming and if you ken the Scots, we like to make eye contact because that is how we learn whether to trust you or not. Lets just say, our visit to London was not nice at all, not warm and friendly. A complete culture shock.

I heard that Scottish & Irish are some of the friendliest people in the world. I am American but my ancestry is Scottish, English, Norwegian, and Native American. Looking at this I know I have Irish in my background also. Impossible not to. I had a next door neighbor who was from Edinburgh. One of the best friends I’ve ever had. I could just drop in on her & she always had time to visit and we had some good long visits. She was not afraid to speak her mind and she was hilarious. She made everyone laugh. I miss living next door to her.

I'm an American, and I just ordered a modern-style kilt that's primarily black with a primarily red plaid accent. I ordered it because: 1) always wanted a kilt, 2) I'm going to a Celtic Fling festival at the end of June, and 3) I think I'll look damn good in it!

I like men in kilts! 😁 Don't know about Haggis. I like mild weather. Today it's in the triple digits here with the heat index. Yikes! I don't believe they get any drunker than everyone else in the world. Where men are men and the sheep are scared. Not! Scottish people are very nice people. I have never worn a kilt. Maybe one day. I love the rainy weather in scotland. Dont like to much sun. Had heat stroke once after been at knockhill race circuit. I think it was about 20 degrees. Was not nice.

The Scotts I know appears to be closer to their families than I'm used to seeing in the U.S. and focus more on history and personal culture as well. As for fighting me... You WIN! :-D

Haggis is great. So is Irn Bru, red puddin suppers, beef sausages, morning rolls, buttery rolls, single malt whisky.... and I'm a half Scot.

American baby boomers Love Scotland cause of our childhood memories and ! The biggest stereotype of Scots in TV and movies of the 60s is that they are warm and friendly people as opposed to the French , who can be cold and prickly! Sean Connery shaped our view of Scotland , from the Legend of Darbie O Gill to James Bond ! Everyone in the US was addicted to the TV show "the Highlander" and we all cherished "Braveheart," and cried at the end! Scotland , more then any other EU nation , is a real dream fantasy for most in the US !

One stereotype I've heard about the Scottish is that you are all great storytellers, and that storytelling is a big part of the culture when Scots are gathered together in groups. Usually it's said that these stories are always very creative, epic, and often embellished a bit for effect. I love hearing this, and I hope it's true! 💖

Heat stroke at 24°C? HAHAHAHA. It gets so hot here in Vegas that my thermostat is literally set higher than that to cool us down. I used to work construction in 45°C. That's how I got heat stroke.

I commented some time ago how much my state- Indiana- resembles Scotland; same size, same population, same average income, and so many cultural things in common. But I do have to say the weather you spoke of is where we're different. Indiana is a land of extremes, compared to Scotland: snow, Maximum in a single storm: 16.1 inches; Maximum in one season: 58.2 inches... also temperature: Highest temperature ever in Indianapolis: 106, Lowest temperature: Minus 27 (not counting wind chill)- but here's the kicker for you: Greatest temperature change during a calendar day: 58 degrees!! Now, while I'm sure it gets hot and cold in Scotland, here's a weather record I think you don't want to try for: "Historically, the most destructive tornadoes strike in March and April. June holds the record for the most tornadoes in Indiana on any given day, 37, and for the most in a single month, 44. Both records were set in 1990, which is also the year for the most tornadoes in the state, 49." All this just goes to establish the reason for a Hoosier stereotype: laughing out loud at weather forecasts!

I’m from Kentucky, USA, so I know about stereotypes. You have a beautiful country rich in history. You must be very proud! From the scots I talk to here in the u.s it doesn’t seem they don’t teach you much about your rich history. Probably the English! And by the way, that’s the stereotype I hear the most. Is that Scotland doesn’t care for the English. Couldn’t say I blame you there!

Sometimes you move to where you belong. Moved from NYC to the South. I Love it and people find my accent interesting. (After moving, I found out my Scotts ancestors came to South Carolina in the 1600s before moving north in the mid 1700s. So, I guess I belong here.) I find a wide variety of accents depending where in the south you live. I'm also betting that I think you have a charming southern accent. ☺

I'm a Canadian who's been to Scotland and lives in America. .. I liked haggis and the people are super friendly! The weather in general was not too hot or cold, I stayed in Edinburgh. I'd love to visit again

I was in Glasgow 3 days ago during your 2 days of Summer. Didn't leave the park, just talked to the students and had a good time! Also, you guys are a bit violent! I saw like 3 major fights. PS, love the shirt! Fell in love with the streets of Edinburgh and fell in love with the people of Glasgow.

Just got back from Scotland. We absolutely LOVED IT! The people couldn't have been any nicer and of course we lucked out with the weather. No rain! It was just so beautiful in Glasgow and Edinburgh. Thanks for your hospitality...

Canada... We are swamped with snow all year around. We live in igloos. It is bush country everywhere. Etc... I want to personally encourage Scottish men to wear kilts whenever possible or appropriate. ;)

I'll agree that Scots are friendly and generous! I honestly found you guys friendlier than my countrymen here in Canada when I visited - and I like to think that we Canadians are pretty friendly. In Canada, the general stereotypes are that we live in igloos (lol no,) we ride moose (double lol no,) it's snowy all the time (big lol no, we have deserts here plus 40 C summers in places,) we all eat poutine (mostly yes,) and that we all say 'eh' (nope) and pronounce the word 'about' as 'aboot' (100% frag no.)

I'm from Texas so there are Loads of stereotypes there. I fit a few of them in that I have a pretty impressive southern drawl. (I've got an accent tag video coming out about that soon.) I occasionally have semi-big hair, but only cause it's curly. I own a cowboy hat and boots but only wear them on occasion. I do have a gun but it's only to shoot varmints or wolves or something like that. I live in the woods and don't own livestock, not even a horse. I am too pale to tan and hate the sun and hot weather, so not much there. I'm Really looking forward to getting to Edinburgh this afternoon. (I've already been in England for about 10 days.) I'm saying bye to the family and the train station and heading North to Scotland on my own. (So excited!)

One of the stereotypes for my area (Indiana) is that we're all super into basketball- probably the greatest basketball film in history is called Hoosiers (what you call people from Indiana) afterall. I find it's more true than it's not, though I get bored out of my gourd watching basketball personally.

I'm from California in the USA. One Stereotypes for Los Angeles California is everyone talks slow like a dumb surfer. It is kinda of true. Now When I was younger I use to talk fast and still do at time. Well I was put in speech classes and such to make me talk slower. I only can talk slow sometimes. Here people hate it when one talks fast. I think people in California are kinda daft and can't understand when a person talks faster.

JasonJMist Pennsylvania, haha. The last few days it's either been between 75 and 86 with a high as heck humidity making it feel almost like 90 at 11 am.

not sure about the conversion but here in the summer it has gotten to 117 ° Fahrenheit at the present it's 85 ° , in the southeast of Georgia USA most everyone from other parts of the world think because we talk slow that we are slow not true at all some of us talk kinda fast !!☺☺ enjoy your day Wee Lassy !! ☺☺

We have lots of Stereotypes here in Arkansas. Like we all are barefoot hillbillies that play the banjo,make moonshine and everyone has a shotgun. Not everyone in Arkansas is this way but yes there is some that fit the stereotype . Course this stereotype is thought of in most southern states.

I keep seeing you wear Zelda stuff. I'm a huge Zelda fan and would totally watch you take a break from Scottish stuff and see you talk Zelda. Or perhaps play Zelda as a Stereotypical Scottish person.

haha im in the south east of the USA and it stays steady of 37 Celsius in summer and was -10 Celsius for a week straight in winter, but for the most part it was 24, and we are going through 2 weeks of non stop raining, flooding hard core and with more coming, but being a southern we do talk to everyone, i was watching a channel out of London and they said they hate that Americans haha

I hear you about the rain; I was born in Humboldt County in California - the heart of the Coastal Redwood belt - and I remember as a kid one week where it literally never stopped raining. It wasn't a constant downpour, generally just a light drizzle - but still, it didn't stop for a week. (The redwoods love drizzle and fog because when mature they're so tall they can't actually "pump" water from their roots to their tops!) Here in australia we got awesome stereotypes about us and hate to break it but most of them ain't real. Australia is all desert and hot all the time: this one i can see where it comes from but it isn't completely true, along the east coast from queensland down to tazzy is very green and it even snows here in some places. While it is hotter here on average there are a lot of cold areas too. All australian dress in singlets and thongs: again can see where this come from but no. It is true we do dress in shorts and shirts a lot cause it does get very hot here but like i said it can get cold as well. We will dress in business suits or uniforms for work and nice rugged up jackets in the cold times, just like anywhere else we have a large sence of fashions. Australians spend all their time at the beach: some people do and the beaches can get crowded but not everyone does, some people have never even seen it before in their lives. Australia is small in size: a lot of tourist think they can just drive around australia in under a month, you would have to have the man in black car to do that. It takes years to travel around the country, to give you a bit of perspective new south wales one of our smaller states takes 15 hours with no stopping to cross it. If you want to see sites you should allow for two years to see the entire country. I suggest to pick a few places you want to see and spend time around that area.

That last is something similar between Australia and the USA; it's not uncommon for tourists from Europe to vastly underestimate the travel time needed to drive between places here. I live in California and it's a LONG day's drive from Los Angeles to the Oregon state line - and that's without any sight-seeing on the fastest route, only stopping for fuel and biological necessities. ;)

Furr Bear yeah i would totally believe that, dad once had two ladies come into his machanic shop and they actually wanted to drive the entire country in two weeks. i guess its due to countries in Europe being so tiny it is hard for them to grasp that a country can be so big, now that i think about it its kinda hard to get a feel for how tiny their countries are without going there.

It's amazing how large Canada, Australia and the US is to Europeans. There's nothing like being asked if you know someone in a city that is 8 hours away in a state that has 20 million people. The same state doesn't mean next door, even if you have the same last name. And, many people in the American Midwest have never seen the ocean. It's not a couple of hours drive, but days of driving. I think the misconception is that Australia is an island, so therefore small. I think the people are great, but y'all have too many poisonous creatures for me. I'd have to visit in a space suit. Lol. I hate insects.

Am in Edinburgh. Love the wet weather. A wee bit sun is no bad. But i tend to stay in when its to warm. Lol. LOVE haggis. Mmm. Berries1938 depens what area of scotland your in. They like humid conditions with lots of trees. Mostly in the west coast. We do have them in Edinburgh but not as bad.
