Man... weird seeing snow! In the twin cities there is none, and the grass isn't even fully dormant.

Winter field day has a 100 watt max and for the ARRL Field day in June, home stations are limited to 100 watts. I can't remember what year they changed that rule, but I think it made a difference. I quick rough count of our WFD log = 48 Mobile, 83 Outdoor, 111 inside and 112 home. That isn't a bad ratio. If you haven't done WFD or ARRL FD in a couple of years, it might be time to give it another shot. We had a great time doing WFD QRP.

My complaint isn't that there are a lot of home stations. It's that so many of the home stations are holding a frequency calling "CQ Field Day." For me, field day should be all about what you and your club does. Thanks for watching, Tom!

@@Scout75PortableRadio Maybe suggest that home station can only hunt and not call CQ or maybe single ops. Maybe do a poll to see what people think? You could give field stations extra points. I'm not sure any of these ideas would work though.

I’d never been on HF until our local club was set up for summer field day (also when I tested for my General), boy that experience has cost me $$$, but 100% field day is great exposure for the clubs

LOL yeah that was an expensive experience! And the club outings for the public exposure and the comradery is what field day should be, IMO. Not someone setting by themselves in their shack calling "CQ Field Day."

I agree with you on either Field Day 100%. I’m not a fan of either for similar reasons. Maybe I’ll do a rant video or something for summer FD. LOL! 73!
