@@SurvivalScout2024 Five years ago I finally replaced the Cammenga compass I was issued in 1980. It still worked but had gotten too cloudy. I never got the bug for electronic navigation. I 100% trust my map and compass. It’s like the difference between driving a car with automatic transmission and having a clutch. The stick shift makes you feel like you’re really driving the car.
@@arctodussimus6198 Great analogy!!! Compass, map, Ranger beads, and usually some Google earth beforehand and off I go. I’ve found multiple cool places this way.
That is one awesome system you have got going on there! Though I would probably replace the big dump pouch with a Canteen/Cup set pouch, and try and squeeze in another small pouch containing some bankline, a space blanket and possibly a mini fishing kit if space permitted and it is useful in your environment. Still I guess you know what works for you.

I second this suggestion. My belt kit has a molle canteen pouch that has two small pockets on the outside. I have a canteen, cup, lid and stove inside the bigger pouch. With lighter, firestarters, solid fuel tabs, and purification tabs in the small pockets. If i needed to, I could stow it's contents and use the pouch to collect stuff. I also wrap bankline around my knife sheath. A rifle magazine pouch will fit a cover element and/or fishing kit easily and I use pistol mag pouches for protein bars.
Great Video ! Upgrade the Survival Belt Kit with a Chest Pack ! You have the BIG knife, so say NO to the hatchet (or ax) that would need a Tourniquet ! Include two Canteens with the Cup and Stove Stand ! Then you can drink from one Canteen and Filter the water and then treat the water with a Tablet for the other Canteen ! Also make sure one Canteen Lid is compatible with your Gas Mask ! The Dump Pouch is a great idea and a must have so you are not being tracked by your litter ! Very nice kit. 👍🏼👍🏼 I’m always interested in how other people put theirs together. I’ve been making belt kits and “survival” kits since 1977 when I joined the Corps. You can definitely provide all the other necessities you need with what you have there. But I’m assuming you would wear this in addition to your backpack. I still stay with the same concept except now I added an H-harness with a couple canteens. Sometimes I add my hatchet, sometimes I remove it. That’s really awesome that you make belt kits! Get some suspenders with some give to them. I clipped my belt like this to my sappi carrier overseas so it’d sit on my hips when walking but be lifted by my shoulders when we had to jump canals all the time. Most guys used the thick suspenders that pull it up some and do the same. Spread the load.
I have a similar belt and mine differs in that I do not carry an Axe or a CAT Tourniquet (although I would if I carried a sidearm). So similar belt here: BELT SETUP 1) Streamlight Microstream 2) Mora Knife 3) Rolled up Dry sack 4) Maxpedition Janus Pack w Raincoat under the shock cord 5) Pathfinder Canteen assembly w Brew Kit 6) Vortex Monocular 7) Fenix P20ix Survival I am not anticipating a bushcraft full woods experience but I have the basics for Survival and I prefer to carry water but have the ability to boil it or use the Aqua Mira straw. I would sit on my pack and cover with my raincoat for shelter as I have done in the past. And would use the heavy duty blanket for ground cover as a lean to or just wrapped in it. I have means to start a fire, multiple ways to signal for help and cash once I get to an Urban environment. Scout Recon Depending on the mission I have an excellent optic tool and a pen and paper to make notes. And I have used a Silva Compass for many years. I always have a spare hat, gloves attached to my gear with a carabiner and have smaller lights to save my main light. And my Fenix light can be used for self defense against animal attack or other with a 4K lumen output. Total weight is under 7 pounds and if I were to add something it would be a Bahco Laplander to process wood. Nicely thought out. I'd just upsize to a BK9 and lose the hatchet. It can do the same things and you save some weight. With the free space, you can add a good folder for the smaller jobs and a small sharpener. A folding saw is also a good fit. Tick and mosquito repellent is a must in the brush for me, ofc depending on the season and location.
I had the same idea a couple years ago and assembled a very similar belt. Although very cool and "high-speed" I found the traditional method of having the knife, multitool, flashlight, and tourniquet ready for fast access and the rest in a normal pack to be much more realistic. The days where my utility belt was entirely practical were far outweighed by the days it made the same amount of gear feel heavier by concentrating it all above my hips.
I used this setup a few years back, and like yourself my carry system has greatly evolved. This system is great for someone starting out in bushcraft and needs sone type of foundation to begin. Currently I use an LBE Load Bearing Equipment with a ruck. I just uploaded a video on it. Thanks for your comment my friend!
You should get rid of the gps pouch get a smaller dump pouch and get a water bottle steel and cup in a pouch make sure you have the 5 c's you just need cordage and cover
I found a large fanny pack with suspenders at the thrift store.Its camo and made by Northwest territory.Paid 5 bucks.Itll hold a ton of stuff.Going to be my scout pack.
That's cool man. I've got a bk9 in mine and a council tools flying fox. I've also got the same head lamp in red lol. I'd add a fishing kit that won't weigh much.
Nice setup and execution. I would just add a military poncho with some paracord or bank line. Ponchos aren't just good for walking in the rain or building a shelter, they also make for a handy sleep roll or emergency stretcher if out with friends.
This is a good kit, another couple of handy bits might be a hank of bank line for trapping or lashing items, and a cheap plastic rain poncho for a (very) makeshift shelter or just for like… rain… nice work though this is spec’d well!
Nice set up Jeff. Those grenade pouches are so versatile. A couple things, perhaps lower your knife so the possibly of jabbing your ribs is lessened and why are you carrying 2 good sized and weighty choppers? Nate
I think I’ve carried my hatchet so much I didn’t give it any thought haha. A number of years ago I built a small shelter just with my BK7. It is doable, but not very efficient. So ever since then I’ve carried a knife and a hatchet. I know my style drives some people in the bushcraft community bonkers…but at the end of the day, it’s my style. Have a great day Nate. @@SurvivalScout2024 I currently use a full size pack, an old lbe belt with butt pack and a thigh bag. It covers everything I need and use for trips up to a month. For shorter trips I just use lbe and butt pack with the thigh bag.
I would looking into using your compass on your left as apparently right handed people go that why and using your left hand is supposed to help that issue.
@@Mecha04 The padded belt came with a roll type belt the British soldiers use. I wanted something different with a solid buckle so this Amazon battle belt was my best option.
Nice setup, but your belt lacks at least a steel bottle&cup, a space blanket, some cordage and a folding saw. With a BK7 at hand, what do you need a hatchet? And a tourniquet can easily be replaced by some cordage and a stick.
@@SurvivalScout2024 - IMHO in this case a 'survival belt' doesn't make any sense - best way to carry a load is in a big ruck with a hip-belt, which would interfere with the 'survival belt'. In my understanding is a 'scouting survival kit' some minimal survival gear, that's always on your person and allows survival, in case you get separated from your ruck. Only way to be a 'survival kit' would be, if you never go scouting without your backpack.
Since you're in the land of the grandmother, a pistol isn't 'allowed'! IMHO, you should drop the dump pouch and replace it with a military-style poncho and a canteen with cover, nesting cup and nesting stove so you have an easy way to process drinking water! Personally, I prefer a folding saw to a hatchet as they are lighter in weight, safer and quieter to use! Replacing the smaller pouches with fewer larger pouches will increase the amount of carrying capacity. Upgrade your IFAK! A good length of cordage, either 550 or #36 bank line is needed!
I will be uploading my current carry for backcountry wilderness scouting. I do carry a firearm. When I used this belt system, those "extra" items were carried in a small backpack. Thanks for your comment!
Hand guns have a restricted classification in Canada and can only be used at the gun range. There are special permits to carry hand guns for work related jobs in the wilderness but those permits are extremely difficult to obtain and have miles of red tape. Thanks!
how were you able to get British surplus equipment? Could you give me a lead please. Ah! The way you said out and about, tells me you are Canadian with much better access to British gear.
I found lots of this kit on eBay. A pouch here or a pouch there. If you type, 'mtp pouches' on eBay, you will get a good list of sellers. I bought from the UK, Poland, etc to collect. It took me some time to acquire a lot of it. Yes, I'm located in Northwest Ontario, Canada. www.flectarn.co.uk has some MTP stock as well. I've bought from them over the years.
What are with everyone and adding a "canteen cup/set" ?? Ya'll probably have bags 5 times the size you need just FILLED with 💩. Why would he need to add that? He already has too much stuff in ny opinion but certainly doesnt need a canteen.
