SCP 001 is an Apollyon Class anomaly also known as When Day Breaks.
SCP-001 is the designation given to the Sun, after an event occurred that resulted in roughly 6.8 billion casualties within the first twenty-four hours. Upon contact with visible light produced by SCP 001, living organisms liquefy at the point of contact, with the effect spreading until the entire organism is converted into a form resembling melted wax. Organisms exposed to SCP001 though, do not perish.

@@nickmumpfield5319 I think it's implied that while the GOC is one of the most powerful GoI's in lore, its resources pale in comparison to the Foundation (in fact their policies make a lot more sense when you realize that they can't just contain things like the Foundation does and have to either let entities harm the public or destroy them). My guess would be that the majority of the GOC would be destroyed when day initially broke and while some facilities may still exist they wouldn't be organized; some would probably help the Foundation in any way they could, some might blame them and become hostile towards the Foundation, and some would just try to wait it out and hope they get contacted by surviving higher-ups to receive instructions.

@@RRW359The GOC has more access to more anomalous and thaumaturgic items for defence and warfare than the foundation, as well as having many bunkers with nigh infinite power and supplies in most canons, so I would say the GOC would be standing a decent chance against the sun.

A nuclear winter would actually be a blessing in this situation because sunlight wouldn’t be able to reach the planet, as long as you can prepare for the radiation. After that all it would take is gasoline, flamethrowers, molotovs or anything that could spew fire to get rid of the monsters

You can take SCP-107, pour water into it, it will create a cloud, you will get in the car and go where you need to go. And the cloud will move after you, as SCP-107 will also be in the car. As a result, the cloud will cover you from the sun for as long as you need, since you can simply collect rainwater in a glass and pour it into the shell.

I have been wondering- since "When Day Breaks" is caused by Sun's light, and light travels across the space, does that mean that eventually, all of space will be affected by SCP-001? Kind of scary, if you think about it

Not all of space, since light only travels so far. And the light cant go to places where the path of light has been obstructed by asteroids, planets, moons, etc.

This is cool! I love how you guys talk about the different anomalous groups and what they do during "When Day Breaks". I also like how planes are mentioned. (Kind of sad how some survivors die due to the planes crashing down on the buildings though) Although these stories about "When Day Breaks" are really interesting, I think that you guys should also make more videos on less known SCPs. So far, the newest SCP (SCP-7000) hasn't got many videos covering it yet. I think you guys should definitely cover it! If there isn't much to talk about some of these less known SCPs, you can fit a number of them into one video, that way maybe it might interest more people. This is my suggestion and idea. I hope you guys like it and find it helpful! =D

Imagine being in the building a plain crashes into and the building actually manages to hold. You survived all of that, and were fortunate enough to have had a well sealed room when it comes to sunlight sneaking in. You work a night shift and sleep a lot during the day. Some might say more than you should. You awaken, no nothing of your luck, and you look up to find the roof that once shielded you from the sun is gone. You feel yourself begin to melt, and as you let out a scream, you have no way of ever being aware of just how lucky you almost were.

Apparently, they're happy about what happened to them, and aren't in any pain. As for why they drag people into the light, my interpretation is that the flesh monsters think they're saving them. If they retain their memories, they probably remember being terrified, but after transforming, all their fear faded. They probably think they're helping the remaining survivors, but know they won't come outside of their own free will. So they first try speaking to them, trying to convince them to join them outside, reassuring them that they won't suffer anymore. If that doesn't work, they force their way in.

If the reflected sunlight also carries the effects, then most indoors are not safe since they are still illuminated by scattered and reflected sunlight. So I assume if you wrap yourself in aluminum that is tight enough to not let sunlight hit you directly you actually are safe from the effects.

Id imagine the only way to beat when day breaks is by having a full body armor that covers every inch and has multiple layers of protection and a camera view instead of anything else and a freeze ray to freeze the monsters and some thaumathergical runes as reinforcement for the armor and to keep the wearers body in top state

It can't be just me that thinks that the blobs of flesh can be killed by throwing Dr bright into it. The blob should become Dr bright upon contact with the necklace and then make Dr bright absorb other blobs. On the 29th day, get him to throw the necklace on the ground and repeat the process

i prefer scp illustrated's 001 "when day breaks" story mainly because scps like 682 and 106 have kinda changed how they are acting 682 was terrified when he first saw the flesh and had no clue about what was going on until he breached and 106 is "helping" people also the flesh hate both 053 and fire

There could be a way the scp foundation could get rid of the sun.. maybe tinted glass could work... but this thing which could cannonically happen for the scp foundations universe.. is a very dark and scary time for anyone, possibly even scp 999. -from site 29, Dr. Ghost

Two things that defeats When Day Breaks, Fire and Shadow, LOTS OF IT! When Day Breaks thrives under Cold and Light. It is in its full form in a snowstorm during morningtime. Unfortunately, Air Conditioning is not the best thing to use inside your house, neither is electricity. In the meantime, watch and pray 🙏🏼 for your dear life! The best thing to do is only stay inside if you have adequate heating and dimmable lights. Otherwise, just only go outside if you are having a campfire, only at nighttime. Another thing that defeats When Day Breaks? Silver 🥈.

It is reflected sunlight - in some WDB stories, it'd non-effective allowing relatively safe passage, but according to the original Proposal, yes, since it is reflected sunlight, moonlight at midnight will melt you just as easily as sunlight during high noon.

Is it a bad thing that I’m honestly getting tired of this particular SCP? I know it’s a popular one, and people are enjoying it, and I won’t lie I do kinda enjoy the stories too. But it honestly feels like this one is just getting overblown at this point, at least to me. I’m not saying this is how any of you feel, this is just how I’m feeling about it. I’m honestly feeling like the only way I’ll truly be interested in this one again is if they make a story where they actually find a proper solution to it.
