SCP 158 is a Euclid Class anomaly also known as Soul Extractor.
SCP-158 is a large mechanical arm, similar to one that one might find in an automotive factory, although the end attachment is unusually shaped, resembling a pointed tridactyl claw.
When used correctly upon a living organism that displays cognition, SCP158 will remove an unknown substance and transfer it through the dispensing device beneath the console. The optimum container for this substance is a glass jar or beaker that fits the attachments. After this action is performed, the organism that it was performed on will cease all higher brain functions, with only the activity in the brain stem continuing. The subject will not respond to external stimuli, and will not exhibit any movement beyond basic reflex actions.

Perhaps not "kill" but recontain it so that it can no longer be a threat. It can't adapt if its own consciousness is outside its own body, and while its body can still regenerate, it won't be able to grow a new soul. The soul itself is basically who we are. Our bodies are basically biological machines that our soul pilots.

I mean... yeah. Take out 682's soul, and the soul of a saint, and put the saint's soul into 682's body. There you go, you got a good 682. And of course, put 682's soul in a mouse or something that could do no real harm. Though, it may adapt like usual... so perhaps using the merge function would be best.

A lot of the head staff have anomalous properties themselves, krow is dog headed, Gears has no emotion (or very little depending on the AU), clef has a third eye Bright and the 05 are immortal..

If I recall, there was a section in the Witch Child incident where Clef got mad at her for messing with life and death so easily by resurrecting a bird, that her brain waves and her overreaction and false impression of Clef's anger becoming "Dr Clef wants to kill me", made Clef write in his diary as he tried to resist her perception based Level 4 reality warping, and eventually succumbing and fully believing he wanted to kill her. (Then of course Kondraki tried to stop him, Kondraki was knocked to the ground, and then SCP 336 Lilith breached containment to stop her ex-hushand from doing the deed, injuring him enough so he would fail) Thing is, I'm not sure if he's a true reality sink. True, he has that effect, but only defensively. Lots of reality sinks in fiction usually have that power in spades and can wield it and extend it, if nothing else. In my experiance, those with Clef's type of defensive resistance usually have(or had) reality bending or at least powers to match, but Clef no longer has those powers at all. He's only as strong as Abel, and has a few tricks that can only be considered level 1, like the Camera trick. Kind of why I think a good fan theory, among many, for Dr Clef is that he's Azazel from the Book of Enoch, the angel that was banished to Earth without most of his powers, who developed an obsession with weapons.

Best descriptions about soul is the the whole concepts about modern media technologies. Body is the hardwares, while the soul is the line of the internet. This kinda reminds me of a lot of what Vanalieu does in "The Death Mage that doesn't want a fourth time"(an awesome novel/manga, definitely check it out). He controls souls and makes them possess objects or corpses to create undead creatures, but he can also pull the soul out of his own body so it can't die, say if he were being cut with an axe, he could just remove his soul, repair the body, and then repossess his body again, which makes me wonder if that was the originally purpose of this device: to remove a soul temporarily so that the body could be repaired without fear of death, then have the soul possess the body again.

Well, it's cognitive, it has thoughts and responds to its environment whenever something attacks it. Theoretically it could be somewhat neutralized like this but considering that SCP-682 usually weaponizes anything used against it it could also gain the ability to remove souls so this likely wouldn't be attempted

@@jlk8041 it is possible that 682 wont have enough time to adapt because it has to have at least 5 hours of constant exposure to this scp for it to gain its abilities IE , learning to counter 173 and 096 by being constantly exposed to them for a extended period so the abilities of 682 would drain and we could kill 682 THEORETICALLY

there was a study in the late 1800's or early 1900's that tried to weigh the soul. It was quite interesting really. The person put dying people on a sensative scale and weighed them as they died. they all lost the exact same amount of weight when they passed.

There is a black creature that can teleport people to its den. The den is a dessert with structures from different time periods some worn and some brand new, the creature slowly takes your memmorys until your a husk, or if you think about it the memorys and the soul seem to do the same thing. So i think that the dessert monster didnt take the memorys of people but took parts of their soul until it was just a husk. (SCP TERMINATED)

when i hear soul, i think of the neurons that make us who we are. it is a combination of all the things that make you unique. just like shutting off a computer, once we die there is simply nothing. like falling asleep without dreams. for some that might be scary, but i find it nice.

There is a reason why it's called "spiritual" energy. It's harder for any energy to turn into or out of a soul, as the soul is a collection of energy but with the unique factor of having individuality/identity. But like all other forms of energy, it can't be destroyed, just changed, and even wiped of this identity. But if it isn't wiped, it's still the same soul, and it can reincarnate after it's current body dies.
