SCP 174 is a Safe redesignated to Euclid Class anomaly also known as Ventriloquist's Dummy.
SCP-174 is a wooden ventriloquial figure measuring 53 cm from head to toe, with somewhat ragged clothing and slight damage to several sections.
When viewed in peripheral vision, subjects report on occasion that SCP174 is looking directly at them with an expression of longing or sadness
Subjects who place SCP-174 on their hand report an urge to 'converse' with it. When questioned, they frequently report that the figure is 'lonely' and needs companionship.

Sounds like the ventriloquist dummy has cptsd and some abandonment issues. It would probably benefit everyone if it was just given one d class for long term exposure so it can go to the therapist along with the d class

The issue is that he has an effect of making people sad, who knows what that interaction would have on SCP-053. Imagine if she was to wear him. What could their two powers do together? An SCP that creates irrational anger and violence, and an SCP that causes people to feel sorry for it. The two ideas could be so conflicting that the people's heads within her facility could literally explode. Good luck getting the ethics committee to approve this "Little experiment"

I remember begging my mom for a ventriloquist dummy for Christmas as a little kid. I used to play with the thing all the time. Then I saw a movie with a killer dummy that looked a lot like mine. I would still play with it during the day. But at night, I would tie it up, throw it in the back of the closet, and barricade the closet door.

My mentality was always “if you’re nice to them, they won’t be mean to you if they come alive” because in movies, they always go after the people who are mean to them, disrespect them, or damage them! I agree. They are supposed to be cold, not cruel. Besides they could have used the doll to manipulate her in exchange for her good behavior, so prevent any issues. There was nothing to be gained by separating them at the time.

I made my own Scp, called scp 6601 - Child Guardian (level Euclid and safe) She protects children from any harm, especially abuse. She can sense a child in danger from about a mile away. She roams in dense forests (or alleys depending where she is) to avoid being spotted. She wears a white mask in the close shape, that of a cat, and white dots in the eyes of the mask that turn red when facing danger or saving a child. After saving a child she either takes care of it or drops it off with a chosen family. The reason for her containment level is because there are many times where she will escape the facility but comes back with a child. She gets along with the facility workers there and never hurt any of them. If you have any questions about Scp 6601- Child Guardian, ask away and I'll answer if I can! To play devils advocate for a moment, this was early in testing and we were unaware of the true nature and properties of 174’s abilities and thus didn’t want to risk the exposure to 999 being ultimately ineffective and having some kind of adverse effect on 999

This hit a soft spot with me. Made me tear up a bit. I had a stuffed rabbit like this that I slept with nightly up into my teens and early 20s. However, around the tail end of that time period, my family wound up in a CPS case, and my little brother - younger than me by over a decade, and more attached and responsive to me than our mother - wound up with a foster family, who later adopted him. I wound up giving the rabbit to him, because he always wanted to play with it, but I never let him, because it was very old and very important to me. I wanted him to feel as safe and comfortable in his new/temp home as possible.... I found out later that his new dad had gotten rid of her because she looked very unkempt.... I still miss her.

This reminds me of a story I read. This kid's old belongings came to life (Lamp, toys, bed, shoes, etc) because they had been used so much that they gained a soul. The more the owner loved the object, the more "soul" it'd get. This seems kinda similar to that concept.

I feel bad for 174... he just wants a friend. And honestly? As somebody who struggled making friends, when people ignored me at the school lunch tables I guilt tripped with a few lies sprinkled in. Now, I don't lie about it anymore, but the guilt-tripping habit is still wired in my brain because that's only when people listened to me. When I guilt tripped. Even then, were the lies really even lies? I had no friends, and I said nobody ever wanted to talk with me. I was just that one weird autistic kid, nobody bothered trying to understand. On a different note, I'm 20 and I still hold a love for one of my first toys, a white alligator named Bitey. He's still sitting right across from me, hears every video I watch, everything I say in my room, and though I don't really play with him anymore, he's still one of my first friends and when I remember I say hi to him.

What's interesting is that the story does contain several truths to it with seemingly each retelling (this is a guess, I'm looking into it further) - the SCP was abandoned - the previous owner left it, either by death or their own choice

I know people say this on like every video but holy shit Hunter is an amazing voice actor! SCP-174's voice is great and the emotion in D-14285's voice is palpable. Also this is a really interesting SCP. I like the "tragic villain" vibe it has. It shows how tragedy and unresolved trauma can corrupt a person, but that doesn't excuse or justify their actions.

I watch this video at night 🌃 surrounded by some of my stuffed animals and I was really on the verge of tears when the girl ignored it and mentioned that she wasn't interested 💔😭 I was thinking about what I would feel in the poor doll's place and . I only just figured out what you are doing with this video, Bravo! the back story made me start sympathising with 174... but that's the point, its completely made up and is a representation of its anomalous effect to get people to feel sorry for it. very nicely and subtly done! Also one of my fav toy was a beanie baby otter called seaweed, she sits on my desk at home.

This scp isn't bad at all. My younger sister still has that old care bear she had when she was a little girl. Now she's grown, is engaged, and have 2 kids. And that care bear is still propped between her pillows. Occasionally she let's her kids play with it, and when it gets damaged she repairs it. This scp just needed to remain in the family it loved and get passed down to the next generations coming.

I am currently 36 and I still have the same stuffed animal I have had since the day I was born. It may require an SCP Title or belong in Warehouse 13... it has an unique trait, I have discovered that it makes anyone tired to the point of sleeping no matter how awake someone is. I have tested it on many people on different occasions. It has to be in contact with someone for a minimum of 5 seconds and then a few minutes later the person will sleep for 3-6 hours. Cool huh?
