The Scrabble AI BestBot got the best of me in my 100-game Human vs. AI Ultimate Scrabble Battle, but I'm not ready to cede to our AI overlords! Introducing... the GM vs. AI rematch!
This 100-game series, running every Monday and Wednesday at 5pm ET for 50 weeks, will feature 20-minute games against BestBot with post-game analysis. Hope you guys enjoy, and wish me luck!

TU(c)KET does slightly better in a longer simulation that (L)UV. I agree that it's a better play for BestBot.

I'm not sure it's "natural" to be as worried as you were about FORESAW. I do agree that after AMIGO it seems likely that he left the X as part of his leave.

1:30 I don't disagree with Mack's CLEANED for Mack, but I wonder about the merit to play UNLEADED if it were someone else playing bestbot. The bot would see any bingo if it exists, whereas it is conceivable that a mortal would not see some 9s that may arise. As a mortal, I see a less chance with CLEANED for me to get a second bingo, either before or directly countering the bots bingo.

That does give the bot the TWS on its bingo either beginning or ending with the D though and also the double-double through the open E... Granted, since it likely has mostly one-pointers the multipliers should not hurt unacceptably bad, but it's an extra 10-30 points at least. I think this depends on how you foresee your own rack after the bingo--if you drew horribly, then a completely open board would be a nightmare. But if you drew bingo-prone tiles on the spot then having lots of open lanes is really nice. It's early game, and you're drawing 7 completely random tiles after your bingo, opponent just swapped 3, personally, I'd keep the board closed.

That's true, but it's also true that the bot will never miss any 8 that's available, and 8's are simply much easier to play than 9's (especially since 9's require the order of the tiles on the board to be exactly right). So pretty much regardless of your opponent's word knowledge, CLEANED gives back significantly less bingos than UNLEADED, which is a good thing for me at an early lead.
