I have sort of the same system but for a fraction of the dies that you have! I also made my own plastic pockets from laminating sheets. That was a fun project! Oh, I also made the box out of chipboard which was also a fun project! Those plastic refrigerator bins cost too much for my budget! Wow, I just noticed this video is from five years ago! Has your storage system changed much since then?

I was just looking at my die storage and thinking that I needed a new system as well and this is a grand idea. I just saw this double fridge bin at Tuesday Morning. Guess I’ll have to make another trip!

OMG Kat - that is soooo awesome! From one OCD'er to another....that is BRILLIANT!! I don't have very many dies, but that system would work perfect! Thanks so much for sharing! I have a YourStory laminator/binder. Any idea where to get reasonably priced laminating sheets? I haven't had to replenish my stock yet, but I have a feeling I will now!! LOL...Keep Calm And Scrap On!!

I also use this system for dies and some of my (hundreds) clear stamps sets. Question? Since you dont store your dies and stamp companions together.....What is your system for that? Evernote? How do you find them? How do you store them, so that you know they have a stamp set that matches? I see you have the catagory, so that tells you that there is a stamp set that coordinates, but....? Where? Thank you !

Anna, I'm curious, why did you decide to go through the time to laminate etc. Instead of just using harder plastic dividers? (As I'm writing this I think the answer came to me: because that cardstock paper matches your craft area. Lol. I LOVE the colour of it!).

Hi Kathleen, I ran across your video on your die storage and I am wanting to adopt the same thing with my dies. I do have a question for you if you don't mind taking the time to answer. How many cut sheets did you get out of the one large sheet of vent covers? Did you find a unique way of cutting them to be able to get more out of the large sheets? Also I have the same question about the Georgia-Pacific card stock? Just trying to figure out about how many I need to buy so that I have plenty and don't run out during the process. EXCELLENT video. I also went to your blog, then your evernote notebook. Are you aware that AliExpress (& eBay) sells many "unbranded" Lawn Fawn knock-off "metal cutting dies" for a fraction of the price ($2-$4)? They also have what I recognize as Spellbinders, Sizzix, MFT, a few Tattered Lace dies, etc. Now, I only buy branded dies at Tuesday Morning. I started an evernote book a couple of months ago, & after spending hours entering inventory I was suddenly alerted I couldn't continue until the following month or pay an ungodly subscription fee. So I keep an image file of Paint documents listing what I've named the "unbranded" dies to include general categories (flora, fauna, word, alpha, Frames, Nesting, DIY/Assembly, landscape, etc), the seller, date, Order # (for Ali orders), & date delivered. I put a copy on my Facebook page but need to look into free cloud storage. I put my dies (with a die cut) in various-sized zip bags from Michaels/Amazon/ eBay lined with index cards. Like your old system, this method takes up too much room so I'm looking for a way to store multiple sets on larger magnet cards like yours & “Biblescraps”, who has added decorative stitching & washi tape to separate categories.

I am aware of aliexpress but will not support them because many of the designs are stolen. I use evernote and have for years and have never had to pay until this year. And i paid a small amount (can't even recall what it is) so I'm not sure why you were charged a lot. I would double check that. Evernote works great for me :)

I can't remember what the Evernote fee was, but you had to pay for a year up front. When I signed up, the Evernote page said "sign up for free". I don't know if I missed something, but I felt like it was a bait & switch scheme. About the dies, I'm not sure how the "manufacturing" works. Gina Marie sells many of the same dies as are sold on Ali , so she must buy them pre-designed. She sells them at half the price the big companies do (& earns every penny of it). Lawn Fawn might do the same thing; many of their dies don't designate a designer. The difference between $19 & $3+ for a single die is too hard to resist, especially when companies' production & overhead costs must be extremely low as there is a minimum of resources & processing needed to produce these tiny items. So their mark-up to consumers certainly seems outrageous.

Oh if they were charging you for a year that makes sense. I understand where you are coming from on the aliexpress dies. I"m not judging anyone for buying them, just wont' support them myself now that I know. The reason they can sell them so cheap is that they pay pennies to the dollar to manufacture their dies and those who have them made in the US pay a lot more. The markup from some companies is a bit more than it should be in my opinion, that's why I try to price my dies as affordably as possible without losing money. I also buy some of my dies (and stamps) on Ali. That said, I also buy a lot from Simon Says Stamp, Lawn Fawn, Stampin Up, etc. I have had a hit and miss relationship with Ali's stamps and dies. I do admit that the price point is hard to resist, especially if you have money restraints. I have gotten great dies from Ali but I have also got not so great dies where I end up having to throw the die out after a couple of uses. The same with stamps. I've noticed that some sellers on Ali have the 'exact' same stamp sets as Stampin Up. Being curious I bought a few and compared them to the real Stampin Up product and they were substantially smaller, some to the point where I couldn't use it for the card I was thinking of so I wasted my money.
