I think that truck is more than worth saving, to the right person. That's obviously an E4OD four speed automatic behind that 5.0L (302) V8. Just the relatively excellent overall condition of the body and frame alone, would make it worth saving.

It's totally worth saving... super solid! The 302 was the easiest on gas... better than the 300 six or the bigger V-8's. That era of Ford truck had a recall for paint peeling. It was most likely repainted at a Ford dealer years ago, under the recall. Swap out the trans with a good used one... no biggie... and a new exhaust system, with a good tune up, would make a awesome truck.
@mromatic17

yeah my 1994 f-150 4x4 5.0 5 speed gets 19mpg on average and over 20 on the freeway! the 302 is one of the best engines ever made!
@gosportjamie
@gosportjamie 6 лет назад
There's no doubt that F150 is worth saving. An XLT Lariat with factory bucket seats and centre console has got to be a pretty rare spec of truck. A good tune-up, a transmission overhaul (at the outside, I'm sure there are plenty of on-line resources for fixing overdrive issues on that, it is a Ford so there's no shortage of people around who've had and sorted that issue) and an exhaust system sort out by a good exhaust shop won't be too expensive and then you're going to have a truck with a lot of life in it and which can be brought back to apple pie order without much difficulty as the red trim seems to be pretty common on those so seat cloth or maybe even seats are going to be easy to find in a junk yard for not much money, and those brick-nose Ford trucks are becoming increasingly sought-after in good shape all the time. Just take a look at John Fox over at The Fox Shop on RU-vid to see how popular and sought-after rust-free vehicles can be and what can be made out of them. The paint on this truck isn't factory, the over-spray shows that, but the two-tone paint is a factory spec so it may just have had paint to deal with the effects of 20 years of sun cooking the original paint which doesn't seem to be all that resilient anyway...

Jay , had a neighbor buy a New Bronco back in the day when I was a kid...his Bronco had a near duplicate two-tone paint scheme with lots of over-spray in the door jams....including the tailgate area,etc...and that sticker-striping was meant to cover-up the not exactly straight paint-lines . He was a perfectionist...ended-up having the bodyshop that worked on his Ferrari/Lorinser SEC...give the New Bronco a just paint-job with zero defects!

Someone should buy that. New exhaust, window motor, tune up, and a driver side seat cover. And keep it out of overdrive (push in the button on the end of the shifter). Good 2 go. BTW, those are factory colors and a factory 2 tone setup. May have been resprayed, but back to original. Dad had one of those. I drove it from FL to CA and back on a road trip. Great trucks.
@robsrandomness7824

I meant possibly re-sprayed as in repainted the same color. Just sayin' that those are indeed factory colors and is a factory tu-tone design. Not all white and the red added later. Highly doubtful.

This is the type of pickup you buy! Buy the parts, do the work yourself. You will have a truck that will run for many years. It will pay you back in the money you save on license tabs, insurance & no payments. I live in Minnesota. I bought a 95 F-150 short box 4x4 rust free in Montana. I brought it home I spent $ 3,000 in parts, tires. This truck pulls my car trailer, boat ,fish house on and off the lake. I have drove it 4 years now only have to spend money on doing regular maintenance I do myself. Get truck! I only own Fords for a reason.

That's a little Gem... A diamond in the rough. My buddy Dirk Halbach brought one here not too long ago a 1992 150 Lariat Extended cab same colors too it was pretty truck always like that dual louver like rear windows Ford really should bring that back. The people that sold Dirks truck to the scrap yard said the motor was bad so he got the truck with a salvage title but it's not for resale he just wanted it because it was so clean. I found out the battery went dead because someone sucked all the acid out of it then I looked at the dip stick there no was oil in the motor what so ever and hole punched in the oil filter which the Junk yard said they didn't do that either. It was sold by some woman going thru a bad divorce. Turns out the battery cable to the starter and 2 primary wires were also cut by THE SHOP SHE TOOK IT TOO nobody else could have severed the wires without having keys to it or being in on it. Dirk bought it for 600 bucks it was Garage kept 77K miles and when we put oil back in it and I repaired the battery cables and primary wires it kicked right off idled like a dream.. I never saw one of these trucks with the 302's do that and not have streams of oil leaks every place.... The truck was so clean inside out it was incredible to see a vintage 1992 truck so clean and new looking...

Check the throttle valve cable grommets. If plastic, they crack and break off the throttle body and cause the transmission to slip. Ford had an updated part made out of metal to prevent this from happening. Should be a TSB for it

She deserves to be rescued. Straight Body, super little bit of Rust. Motor and Tranny needs to be rebuilt. Looking at the blow by on the pipes. She needs her second chance of life folks.

Man what a nice old Ford. You don’t find anything in Missouri that old with a solid frame and body.

I didn't think ford still installed the high beam switch on the floor by these years. My dad's old 78 had that. Way too clean to crush or part out. The cab bottoms behind the doors are the first thing to rust out on these!

Great old trucks. Ford saddled them with a 302, should've been a 351w or straight 6, but most likely emissions had a lot to do with it. A 351w made them a great work truck. The I beams gave it a really tight trim radius and made it easy for the truck to shift weight to the rear wheels.
