This super clean example of a 99 explorer was junked today. Such a waste to see a car in such condition with low miles being sold for scrap. I guess everyone just needs money for christmas or something..... Anybody need a explorer? $1,000!

That is one VERY CLEAN 1999 Ford Explorer. To your point about the radio, as a Ford dealer tech since 2000, simply turn on the radio of any Ford product (still equipped with the factory audio unit of course) and press and hold #3 and #6 pre-set buttons simultaneously and that will put the audio unit through what's called a speaker walk-around test. Just another useless piece of information for those of you interested.

This sickens me, people just scrap a perfect 1999 Ford Explorer XLT, and there's nothing wrong with the car! Most likely some people just eager to make some quick easy cash, this car is in too good a condition to be in a junkyard... I hope someone buys it, I really do.

@@hakeemsd70m you got lucky then, pretty much all of them blow timing chain cassettes at some point. Some of them will run 300k miles with the rattle, others will blow shortly after the rattle begins. It starts with failure of the tensioners which ford recommends replacing every 75k and NO ONE replaced them.
@keithooo123
@keithooo123 4 года назад

@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN
@W0RLDSSMALLESTVI0LIN 4 года назад
@@keithooo123 the tensioners, no, its not that difficult. You are probably thinking of the cassettes, which are inside the engine. The tensioners wearing out is what causes the cassettes to break, which creates the rattling noise. Most of the cassettes are extremely difficult to replace and its best to remove the engine. Engine removal is required to get to the rear bank cassettes. Its an very time consuming job thats extremely difficult to do, so bad that alot of mechanics will refuse to do the job.

Jay Smart I made an error; mine did have the bad timing chain engine but I never had any issues. The only time I noticed it was when I accelerated hard and let off the gas then I would hear the rattle. Other than an alternator and radiator replacment it was oil every 3k (I'm religious with oil changes) brakes and tires. I was proud to own that car!

Someone got a new(er) car for Christmas. I'd keep that one, it really looks like someone cared for it, with the condition I wouldn't have thought it had more than 100k on it, not nearly 200k. Change out that slightly worn driver's seat, which probably isn't going to be too hard considering the number of these there must be in junkyards given they're reputation and you'd have a really smart motor for very little money. It wouldn't surprise me to find a load of service history inside that book pack...

Wow! Can’t believe someone scraped that (???) Ford Explorer- Simply doesn’t happen around here (Lou, KY) everyone around this ‘Suck-Hole’ (KY) expects to get ‘rich’ off of everyone while they attempt to screw ya good if ya know what I mean! - I no longer can drive & yes, I miss it severely! (Don’t take your vision for granted kids)✌️

Let’s take good care of the explorer for 10 years then we’ll scrap it .. don’t mess with the center console cos we gonna scrap it in the future

I was trying to figure out why they scrapped it, then you pointed out the rip in the seat.... lol No idea what people are thinking. They may have tried to trade it in and were offered less than scrap value so just decided to scrap it.

I Bet that was a trade in at a good dealer, and they thought it was too rough to fix up. Wholesalers did not want it, so, off to salvage? Shame but somebody got a good beater.

Put a new radio in and replace the power seat switch and maybe the passenger window motor and it will go for many more miles hopefully
