Scrapping Tips: Scrapping a Flat Screen TV 

Copper wound transformers, filter coils, not motors. Nice work!

In order to make money doing this, you need to work a bit faster!. There is no value in the thin plastic and the Mercury tubes are both a health hazard and expensive to dispose of. Furthermore this type of screen is now old technology. If dismantling flat screen for fun is your thing then do plasma screens as they yield far more aluminium and copper than LCD and Led screens.

So whats the worth of the work involved ? Is it worth the time to do it? (Doesn't seem to be)

Dude!, there are cordless electric drills that various bits can fit into with magnetic holds. Time is money! Its just painful to watch you manually remove screws. I like my Black and Decker driver, but would after using so, so much, I would pony up for a DeWalt. I also have a set of hex head sockets, both english and metric sizes. That being said, it appears that Samsung is going away from scews altogether and its nearly all clips. I just parted out a 65" model with a cracked screen, so all good internals. Legs sold for $40 +shipping! That, and please screw down a piece of 5/8" or 3/4" plywood to your "workbench" so stuff doesn't drop in between the boards!

Those white copper spool things on the power board easily yield their copper. Remove the middle part and slip it onto a small screw driver, then spool off the wire. Light iron can't be worth your time to fuss with. Me, Cu, brass, stainless, Al, copper bearing motors, low grade insulated wire. My scrap yard doesn't even do steel. You need a large truck for that. I give mine to others.

Was glad to see you picked up a screwdriver first and didn’t even need a hammer. Great video. Not much to these new TVs but I do hang on to all those little fasteners.

Hi, thanks for the videos. I scrapped a very similar TV recently (new to scrapping), what can you do with the actual TV screen. It seems very brittle with sharp edges, at least mine was. Thanks!

Very informative. I have a dead flat screen. I will take your wisdom and run with it. Now that I know a bit of metals inside are worth something, I won't just take the tv to my shooting spot and fill it full of holes. Haha. Oookayyy...maybe after salvaging the guts I will fill it full of holes. Dude, use a screw gun there are super long bits available, even in torx. I fix power tools on the side. I use a small impact driver (Bosch) and the screws in power tools are itsy bitsy. Stop using an old screwdriver! 🙃

Overall, very well done! I used to disassemble tvs in a recycling plant and we used air powered tools and cranes. Watching you with organic screw driver was very amusing. Of course, power tools don't fit everywhere. Liked your demeanor and economic consciousness. Keep it up !! Congrats
